Does television remove our loneliness or not?

Many people believe that television helps remove our loneliness

Television has revolutionized the realm of personalized entertainment, and is often deemed as a productive companion in solitude, but does this notion hold substance is a matter worth delving deeper into.

Undeniably, this modern device has helped those living on their own tremendously by filling up their moments, and surroundings, of seclusion with affable sounds of music, laughter, emotional portrayals - amusing content, sports programs and music concerts; inputs about current happenings through news, and so on, letting them experience the warmth of joy, empathy, energy; and alternatively, sorrows, wherein one is exposed to such sentiments through the portrayals of anguish, grief and distress through characters in movies, soap operas.

Moreover, modern lifestyles entail an overwhelming engagement with professional obligations, this technological aid comes in as a respite for those returning home physically and mentally drained, with little energy and enthusiasm remaining for going and  interacting  with others in their social circles: it allows one to entertain themselves within the confines of their comfort zones and forgo the arduous task of dressing up and stepping out of home to socialize.

Nonetheless, by virtue of humans being gregarious creatures, many dread  inhabiting such lifestyles; this machine has become a medium of addiction and social isolation rather than offering companionship when someone is alone. Watching TV engages  viewers, so profoundly,  with the content that they are left bewildered, turning them oblivious of   their surroundings, in the process, discouraging interaction even with those around them, fueling a sense of aloofness and detachment, making them feel despondent and abandoned.

In hindsight, excess of everything is bad; in the same way, using television as a way to fulfill the need of being among loved ones does help; however, this can turn into an obsession if excessively used. Thus, prudence is recommended.
