Full-time university students spend a lot of time studying, however they should perform other activities too. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

In concurrent times, full-time university students are often occupied with extensive academic responsibilities. While studying is certainly their primary focus, I believe that engaging in other activities is equally important for their overall development, so pupils should not limit themselves solely to academic work.

To start with, involvement in non-academic activities contribute significantly to mental and emotional well-being. University life can be highly stressful due to frequent assignments, imposing deadlines, and examinations. However, participating in co-curricular  activities, such as sports, arts and design, and music can enlighten one to embark on the path of learning about discipline, planning, and enhancing emotional intelligence, which perhaps help in future endeavors, and, indeed, engendering an option to escape from the mundane structural engagements. To corroborate, a study conducted by the department of education in Amity University, reported that around 60 percent of pupils partaking in endeavors out of formal syllabus, reported inculcating better overall personalities, apart from excelling in academics.

Moreover, activities outside the classroom offer students opportunities to develop essential interpersonal and practical skills, something that can be fostered through socialization. For instance, joining clubs exposes them to teamwork, leadership and communication. These skills play an important role in shaping their persona, and are considered valuable by employers. In many cases, experiences gained from such activities are as impactful as academic achievements in preparing students for future challenges. Furthermore, many argue physical undertakings help metabolize stress hormones accumulated while studying intensively, and assist in rejuvenating the mind and body,  aiding one in focusing more intensively on studies.

In conclusion, although academics remain central to university life, full-time students should also be involved in other activities, as these contribute to their overall growth and development, and help them sustain pressure effortlessly.

Young people are often influenced in their behaviours and situations by others in the same age. This is called peer pressure. Do the disadvantages of this issue outweigh the advantages of it?

Young people are often influenced in their behaviours and situations by others in the same age. This is called peer pressure. Do the disadvantages of this issue outweigh the advantages of it?

Peer pressure frequently shapes the behavior, lifestyle, and choices of young individuals. While this phenomenon could sometimes yield positive results, I contend that the drawbacks of this influence significantly surpass its benefits.

To start with, the sway held by peers could sometimes motivate young minds to adopt constructive habits. When students observe their friends studying regularly, participating in sports, or engaging in creative activities, they may feel encouraged to do the same. This form of healthy competition could help them improve academically and socially. Moreover, being part of a supportive friend group can strengthen communication skills, and offer emotional comfort during stressful periods of formative years. Youngsters frequently feel more understood by friends than their own grown-up family members, making peer connections valuable in certain situations.

However, despite these benefits, the detrimental effects of social pressure tend to be far more serious and long-lasting. One major pitfall is that young individuals may engage in risky behaviours merely to gain acceptance. For instance, a few adolescents start smoking, drinking, or skipping classes because they fear being excluded from their social circle. Such actions can lead to health issues, poor academic performance, and long-term regret. Additionally, constant pressure to fit in may lead young people to suppress their own opinions and individuality. Instead of making independent decisions, they mimic others, which hinders personal growth. Peer pressure can also create emotional strain; the fear of judgement, or rejection often results in anxiety, low confidence, and a distorted sense of self-worth.

In conclusion, although peer influence can occasionally encourage positive behaviour, the potential harm it causes such as affecting decision-making, mental health, and causing  identity crisis is far greater. Therefore, the disadvantages of peer pressure significantly exceed its advantages.

Many young people nowadays are imitating celebrities in sports and movies. In your opinion, is this good or bad? Support your point of view with reasons and examples from your own experience.

Many young people nowadays are imitating celebrities in sports and movies. In your opinion, is this good or bad? Support your point of view with reasons and examples from your own experience.

The contemporary young generation is highly influenced by the limelight and stardom of famous personalities, and are tempted to ape them. This essay will analyze whether this propensity is beneficial, or detrimental.

In the era dominated by social media, people especially, the growing minds get easily influenced by the life loaded with stardom of the renowned sports and movie personalities, start considering them their mentors thereby, losing the sense of individuality in the race of longing to look alike, causing disruptions in perceptions and thoughts of curious growing minds.

Moreover, many believe that the life portrayed by the eminent personalities is not a true reflection of their real self, rather a part and parcel of their vocation in the pursuit to earn money, and imitating their lifestyle distracts the youngsters from pursuing their objectives, and making them go astray, and lose their sense of direction.

Furthermore, the advent of globalization and e-commerce has extended a rich profusion of multi-national merchandise available at the doorstep, coaxing them to turn spendthrift, intensifying the pitfalls of the proclevity of emulating noted public figures. It has been observed by various studies by eminent human behaviorists that the young in an attempt to mimic their idols, catapult themselves into a buying spree, pushing themselves into financial crisis. The perquisites rendered by the companies: buy now and pay later, precipitating mushrooming of credit card bills, and EMIs, and thus, overburdening the young people in the early stage of life.

To reiterate, I strongly feel that the vogue of following footsteps of distinguished characters, among the youth, is a detrimental evolution since this practice compels them to become extravagant, and deplete their savings, deviate from attaining their personal and professional pursuits, and provoking them to lose their individual persona.

In many countries schools have severe problems with student behavior. What do you think are the causes of this? What solutions can you suggest?

In many countries schools have severe problems with student behavior. What do you think are the causes of this? What solutions can you suggest?

In recent times, it has been witnessed that pupils behave inappropriately at schools. Many have raised the concern on this notion. This essay shall examine reasons behind this phenomenon and suggest plausible remedies.

Unruly conduct of students emerges due to negligence and lack of parental supervision: as parents are too busy with work, leading to less attention and to monitor or guide their progeny, in which the focus of young individuals eventually shifting to advancement of modern technology, such as mobile devices, and computers, to name a few, where they are exposed to violent, or inappropriate content,  which ultimately affects their mindset.

Furthermore, many individuals stating tutors are also equally responsible for this trend since learners spend most of their day in schools - meaning it is the duty of the educators to enlighten them about righteous behavior, but by virtue of limited rights to punish, or embrace strict measures they are unable to do so. Moreover, the educational institutes are designed in a manner to focus on academic endeavors, educating about neglecting values and ethics.

To surmount these challenges, experts profess that counseling and mentorship programs would be quite productive in quelling disorderly attitudes of school goers: the faculty and parents should persuade youngsters to participate in psychological assessment, and track down their behavior and render guidance accordingly. Additionally, schools should implement strict policies: clear rules, rewards for good behavior, and disciplinary action against for not abiding rules. Additionally,  regulating online activity, considering the fact that it is inevitable in the modern era, but through regular monitoring, they can minimize the impact.

In hindsight, behavioral problems arise mainly from poor parental guidance, social influence, and weak discipline systems. Combined efforts from both fathers and mothers, and tutors can help overcome this complication.

Young drivers are careless and overconfident, and too many are killed in accidents. To eliminate this problem, we could teach children the skills of safe driving while they are at school. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Young drivers are careless and overconfident, and too many are killed in accidents. To eliminate this problem, we could teach children the skills of safe driving while they are at school. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Nowadays, fatal road mishaps, involving young individuals, are witnessing a surge, so many opine that to eliminate this problem, schools must train youngsters about appropriate driving, but how far this proposal can be deemed acceptable, is a matter that needs a profound scrutiny

A school of thought backs this idea by citing the obligation of schooling: to foster and polish the overall personality of young individuals, and since using roads safely as motorists forms an integral part of the persona of lawful citizens, it is pertinent to inculcate this education in classrooms. Further, schools have an appropriate learning environment for better grooming as learners can effortlessly absorb the new skills with their peers, and also retain it enduringly, as it has been seen in several other areas of learning.

However,  many assert that the basic objective of the formal tuition is affording the strong foundation of academics, and this topic will only cause distraction and disruption: everyone will only want to learn this, instead of other more essential but complicated domains. Moreover, this will precipitate chaos by persuading young minds to  commit misdemeanors, as was observed in the Hisar road accident case in India, wherein the driver was just sixteen years old, who learned some fundamentals about road use while sitting behind the wheel, and he ended up trying dangerous stunts on a bridge to flaunt his abilities in front of his peers, resulting in his death by falling off the 100 ft bridge.

In hindsight, I strongly believe that driving should not be a part of the formal curriculum; it is something that develops with maturity, and can be learned from the certified institutions. Therefore, it would be better for the sake of society to keep this subject out of bounds for juveniles.

Young people are often influenced in their behaviours and situations by others in the same age. This is called peer pressure. Do the disadvantages of this issue outweigh the advantages of it?

Several young minds are seen becoming inclined to emulate their peers. This essay will discuss the merits and demerits of this phenomenon and conclude whether the pros outshine the pitfalls.

The primary benefit of this propensity is that one, especially underachievers, can get inspired from the attainments of fellow students and learn from them. This is to say, struggling pupils can embrace improvements in their studies by following the footsteps of  studious classmates, and enhance their scores. Moreover, they can inculcate healthy habits by taking cues from people from the same age group, effortlessly: undeniably, friends and acquaintances have a deeper impact than families on behavior. For example, a study conducted by WHO concluded that several youngsters were persuaded to exercise regularly, avoid drugs, and so forth by being persuaded by their friends and colearners.

However, this behavior is laden with serious pitfalls too. Youngsters can absorb deviant behaviour of others and indulge into criminal activities: mugging, theft, carjacking and many more, making them go astray. Furthermore, the impact of peer conduct often fosters stubbornness and greed, where individuals pressurize their mothers and fathers to buy them all the luxuries that their friends possess, so that they  can fit into the group of peers, even if they cannot afford them. For example, a recent survey conducted by a group of psychologists revealed that many parents are struggling to fulfil the unwarranted demands of their wards since they want all the amenities that their classmates have. Thus, this proclivity can turn into a bane if allowed to develop without monitoring.

To conclude, the shortcomings surely exceed benefits since youth find it attractive to indulge into illegal endeavours as their peers do, and pressurize families to buy them expensive items as their friends have, turning them adamant.

Many people think young people should follow traditions. Others argue that young people should be free to be individuals. Discuss both views.

Many people think young people should follow traditions. Others argue that young people should be free to be individuals. Discuss both views.

Undeniably, there has always been a fierce debate among varied sections regarding the young generation observing traditional values. While some profess that this should be done at any cost, others dissent. I shall critically analyze this matter and elucidate my views in the following paragraphs.

Some profess, native ways of life play a pivotal role in promoting  essential local rituals, encouraging people to stay connected to their roots, comprehend the rationale behind those, and preserve the knowledge amassed by ancestors.  For instance, celebrating the festival of lights, and colours in India, involving following different ways of worshiping gods  and goddesses, is a way of informing oneself about the relevance of these occasions: the festival of lights marks the transition of climate and  also teach about victory of good over the evil, and festival of colors indicate beginning of the harvest season.

Likewise,  embracing customs endemic to a society has a profound impact on behavior, and also persuades youngsters to follow the precedents of their ancestors to sustain values, besides  perpetuating these to the next generation. For instance, as per Indian customs, being respectful to elders, and touching their feet every morning, teaches youngsters about humanity and politeness, and carry them forward.

Nevertheless, in the contemporary era, some disregard this, and assert that living life without restrictions is the privilege of the young. Their main focus should be on adapting to the fast evolving world, instead of being tied down by orthodox traditions, to earn success. Thus,  it should be their prerogative to follow their culture, or not.

To recapitulate, I vehemently agree with the former view, encouraging the youth to stay connected with their home-grown rituals, is the only way to guarantee survival of a community, which otherwise might lose its sense of existence.

In some countries, it is believed that crime among young people is increasing. What do you think are the reasons for this trend? What types of punishment or approaches are most suitable for young offenders?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Reasons

  • Economic factors: lack of jobs and impoverishment

  • Social factor: peer pressure and advent of social media, and the situation is exacerbated by lack of proper counseling

  • Lack of parental monitorings and guidance

Suitable punitive measures

  • Engaging the young perpetrators in restoring the damage caused to places or assets

  • Reformation and redemption through rehabilitation

  • Educational support

  • Community initiatives should be run to involve youngsters in constructive activities

  • Warnings and retention

This surging incidence of unlawful endeavors involving young individuals has become a pressing concern across the world, making it imperative to delve into attributes driving this phenomenon, and discovering probable remedies to stem this trend.

The most prominent factor driving this tendency is a deterioration in familial, and social values and circumstances which has made the young generation lose its sense of direction, and stop distinguishing between right or wrong. Perpetrators, as young as those in their teens, regardless of their socioeconomic backgrounds, are reportedly found engaging in activities such as mugging, robbing,  vandalizing public property, and so forth, in all urban centres on the globe, as has been reported by the Washington post.

Likewise,  another factor underpinning the propensity to break laws amongst youngsters is abject poverty, and accompanying unemployment, forcing young people to resort to deviant ways to earn livelihood and survive. To corroborate, as per WHO, nearly ninety percent of pickpocketing and snatching in cities like London and New York, to name a few, can be ascribed to the jobless poor youth, unable to earn lawfully.

This social malady can be cured effectively provided families, community, and lawmakers join hands, to afford counseling, alternative skills training, and community services and activities, to the delinquent young. Moreover, selective punitive measures such as detention in correction facilities that san hardened criminals can also help curtail this development. For example, Singapore Police has successfully reformed numerous young offenders by sending them to rehabilitation schools and offering them occupational training.

To conclude, most young unlawful elements embrace anti-social ways of life owing to absence of appropriate enlightenment about righteousness, resources for survival and jobs. However, concerted efforts by every responsible component of society can help mitigate this complication, and reform the youth.

Young people committing crimes should be treated the same as adults by the authorities. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Young people committing crimes should be treated the same as adults by the authorities. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Nowadays,  unlawful acts involving juveniles are witnessing a spike; however, these perpetrators walk scott free unlike the grown up. This has persuaded a proposal that they should be awarded similar penalties like their older counterparts, whereas many dissent. I shall critically scrutinise this matter, and draw a plausible conclusion.

A school of thought professes that an infringement should be penalized uniformly, regardless of the age, for this can send a clear message to all the youngsters, preventing them potentially from engaging in criminal/antisocial  activities. Similarly, in cases of violent  illegal acts, such as murder, or assault, the severity should be the  primary criteria and not the  age of the offender. To corroborate, a study by the University College of Dublin, revealed that felonies undertaken by those under eighteen have surged due to lack of sufficient law, so a universal system of punishments has been proposed in Ireland to help quell such incidents. Moreover,  holding them accountable will promote fairness, and also prevent youngsters from being used as a tool to commit unlawful acts.

Nevertheless, the critics throw up their arms in horror, and suggest that youngsters should not be subjected to such punitive measures. Their brains are still developing, limiting their ability to make correct decisions. Since they lack maturity, they might be unable to handle the trauma, eventually affecting  their mental health drastically, exposing them to issues like depression and anxiety, and instead encouraging them to indulge in dangerous unlawful endeavors.

To conclude, disputes aside, I think that instances of law breaking should be meted out similar treatment to all antisocial elements, regardless of their age; youngsters partaking in offences should not be spared. It might sound cruel, but mitigating incidence of law breaking by minors is only possible with such severe steps.

Some people think that young people should be ambitious. Others believe that it is fine to not to have big aims in life. Discuss both these views and give your opinion.

Some people think that young people should be ambitious. Others believe that it is fine to not to have big aims in life. Discuss both these views and give your opinion.

Having defined goals is the key to feel encouraged towards the future. Some believe it is the prime step to be independent and responsible, while others feel it is not important to work on this on priority.  I align myself with the latter view, and shall elucidate my stand in the following paragraphs.

To start with, those who are wedded to the idea of defining aims while they are young, feel that this affords a purpose in life, and fills them up with enthusiasm to realize their dreams. Setting goals makes them feel motivated. It is truly said by a great businessman, Mr. Junaid Khan, that defining aims is the first step towards attaining independence, which renders one an immense sense of responsibility since they must chase those desires at their own device. Besides this, as per him, this inspires one to never give up and keep moving with a focused mind, to experience victory.

On the face of it, others believe that having big goals is not that critical a task: this section is profoundly convinced with the idea of living in the present, and not worrying about the things and days to come. They feel that life is unpredictable and circumstance keeps changing so one should go with the flow. For example famous actress in India, Deepika Padukons daughter of the famous athlete, Prakash Padukone did not aim to become an actress, but it was her coincidental discovery by a director that fetched her fame in the film industry: she admits that she never planned any of her future forays.

In conclusion, even though both the perceptions are well-reasoned, I opine that one should harbor certain aspirations, and invest efforts into realizing those; it makes their lives more purposeful and satisfying.
