Nowadays we can see definite signs of surplus production in almost every industry sector, and this is leading to environmental damage. What are some possible solutions to this situation?

Lately, industries have been resorting to surfeit manufacturing, provoking exploitation of natural resources, and engendering environmental damage. In order to control this alarming circumstance, industry experts and environmentalists have recommended several solutions at the production end.

To combat the challenge, the environmentalists have come up with a proposal wherein the authorities will have to play the role of a regulator: imposing limits on how much a unit can churn out in a given season. To see this through, these experts feel penalizing non-compliance can act as a mechanism that will compel manufacturers to fall in line and abide with the established norms.

Additionally, following a uniform pricing policy throughout the year, regardless of the time and season can  go a long way in seeing the success of attempts to discourage overproduction, for customers will tend to resort to a uniform shopping habits, making accurate predictions possible, and preventing surfeit manufacturing. Likewise, some even fancy halting innovation and proscribing introduction of fresh styles and models to allow exhaustion of already manufactured merchandise stocks. Most brands, especially in fashion and electronics segments, in order to sustain supremacy over rivals launch new models frequently, leaving humongous stocks of old goods.

Similarly, some mandate involvement of businesses in this endeavor by stemming the lack of coordination between sales and production departments that is promoting this evil phenomenon.  Where the former attempts to flood markets with products to gain greater visibility, try to bloat their estimates, pushing the latter to produce more than what can be sold, leaving huge unsold stocks, but synchronizing operations could help resolve  this issue.

Overall, there are myriad ways to surmount this: ranging from installing manufacturing caps, adopting punitive measures and even prohibiting new introductions to stipulating participation by commercial entities through prudent production policies.

In contemporary times, overproduction has been rapidly increasing in every sector which  not only has an adverse effect on the ecosystem but also on the natural resources. It has raised alarm among environmentalists who suggest taking some steps to control this by mitigating this issue from the roots.

To begin with, many experts believe that excessive production can be reduced by enabling coordination between manufacturing and sales departments as they are the prominent source of this issue. They can resolve it by taking a few initiatives. For instance, some personnel associated with the production department will be asked to minimize the unreasonable production until onhold stock is not utilized and the sales department has to emphasise on selling the produced goods first and then look forward for further targets to produce more. Consequently, natural resources will be used appropriately and environmental damage will be dramatically controlled.

Another important way to control this is a consumerist attitude, people have a power which controls the market trends. If  they abstain from use and throw practice and  buy something new every now and then - and dump what has gone out of vogue,  the industry will be forced to curtail the excessive production as they cannot afford to bear losses by holding unnecessarily produced commodities. Beside this, governments can make a law by urgently imposing quotas on surplus production and also ensure that if any one fails to adhere, will be penalised severely, it will push the industrialist to take steps to restricting this wasteful practice.

In hindsight, I strongly opine that the issue of controlling the excessively produced goods can be handled effectively if organisations,  consumers and the state make joint efforts. Endeavors of such dimensions cannot be handled successfully unless all stakeholders become a party to these.

Excess production in manufacturing sector has become the order of the day it may a seem to be sign of economic prosperity to the economists, the environmentalists are least amused, and are instead worried about the ecological disaster this phenomenon is causing they stress on finding workable ways out to get rid of this pressing problem.

The most prominent suggestion comes from within the manufacturing sector where experts recommend a closer coordination between marketing, manufacturing and research and development departments, besides rationalizing distribution channels. The evil of over production stems from over-reporting of sales by marketing departments. If this practice could be stopped, excessive production would automatically be halted. Thus preventing indiscriminate exploitation of natural resources and emissions from fuel used in production process.

Many, also go to the extent of stalling or research and development activities-carried out to in fuse innovation in the existing products, and discontinuing production until the existing stocks are not consumed completely. This would not only keep pollution a bay for some days but also make the society realize the importance of producing only that much which can serve the purpose of humanity.

On top of that, a school of thought goes to the extent of introducing statutory regulation and reforming the habits of the consumers. It is suggested that the governments across the world should resort imposing heavy penalties and punishments for the manufactures who tend to produce more than what they can sell. This should be complimented by convincing the users not to abandon there equipment or dispose of others goods and instead reuse them.

Hence, surplus manufacturing is surely an end-product of consumption oriented society, but this is damaging the health of the planet. Therefore, remedial steps are the need of the hour and should be implemented without delay and without compromise.
