Popular Hobbies and interests change over time and are more a reflection of trends and fashion than an indication of what individuals really want to do in their spare time. To what extent do you agree with this statement? Give reasons for your answer.

Popular Hobbies and interests change over time and are more a reflection of trends and fashion than an indication of what individuals really want to do in their spare time.
To what extent do you agree with this statement? Give reasons for your answer.

Contemporary times have been witnessing significant changes in favorite pastimes that rather indicate influences such as current vogue, wherein one follows celebrities  and emulates them. I disagree with the statement, and feel that most engage in freetime activities they like the most.

Those believing that leisure time undertakings are impacted by concurrent forces, profess that some, especially youngsters, are propelled by the innate human  propensity to emulate popular public figures. They browse social media applications and observe celebrities endorsing certain undertakings, promoted as pastime, luring their audience to jump into the bandwagon. For instance, most of the adventure sports such as white water rafting, scuba diving, and so on, as elite free time haunts, and the fashionable youngsters tend to toe the line, and embrace these as their engagements. The growing number of  participants in dangerous sports in various corners of the globe clearly highlight this.

However, it would be inaccurate to claim that freetime undertakings are underpinned by concurrent forces: barring a few fashionable and wealthy, most are driven by their long-standing interests, personal talents, or intense motivations. Notably, a majority are passionate about painting, playing musical instruments, or hiking, prefer to continue with these endeavors to draw a sense of satisfaction, and break the mundane. Moreover, those using modern means to practice their favorite recreational undertakings do it since they can use these to fulfill their desire without compromising their essential duties. To corroborate, many play games on playstations today instead of traditional boards since they lack time to devote to such tasks, and meet others, due to their hectic schedules.

To conclude, I believe that except a few, most are inclined to engage in hobbies that complement their desires, and are not swayed by external influences to alter their area of interest.

It is argued that getting married before finishing school or getting a job is not a good choice. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
or,
It is a foolish idea to get married before finishing the study and settling down. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Agree

Disagree

  • Early companionship can help each other grow and support

  • One does not have to worry about gaining professional success to settle in life

  • If family support is there

  • This may help in raising family at appropriate time, before women face pregnancy-related complications

As per the common perception of contemporary times, entering into marriage before finishing the education is an unwise move, for it is likely to impede professional and personal growth. I largely concur with this notion since one must be through with their academic obligations to ensure long-term stability.

Marrying ahead of the culmination of studies and gaining employment can make one vulnerable to disruptions in attempts to successfully accomplish educational and professional objectives. This can distract individuals from pursuing college or university whole-heartedly since one, especially women, is likely to be overwhelmed by familial obligations - negotiating household chores, or caring for children, leaving them with little time to focus on  engaging effectively with academic pursuits. Consequently, they are likely to be deprived of getting jobs that promise monetary and professional progress. For instance, as per Daily Mirror, a majority of successful professionals admit that despite being in a relationship, they delayed fulfillment(consummation) promise to wed before obtaining relevant degrees and suitable employment.

Similarly, although some might say that married couples can support each other emotionally, this is a misplaced notion/belief/supposition; one needs to be mentally mature and have emotional resilience to attend success in marital life. This can be achieved only after the completion of academic innings and settling in gainful employment because this can afford necessary exposure and adequate monetary resources to support family, and overrule any feeling of regret. To corroborate, as per ONS, Great Britain, couples settling in marriage after gaining adequate qualifications and good jobs experience  negligible divorce rates

In hindsight, I vehemently opine that committing to marital relationships post-culmination of education and obtaining suitable jobs is a prudent choice: this allows one to ensure their academic, occupational and familial success in the long run.

In the future, nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

In the future, nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Agree

  • The way people are becoming busier, it is expected that they will have no time to go to a shop, or wait for their books to be delivered, and will switch to soft versions

  • No one will be interested in paying to buy printed versions  when they can access everything online

  • No one will love to carry heavy books and tedious oversized newspapers when they can read everything on their compact devices

  • A majority will become environmentally conscious and switch eco-friendly modes

Disagree

  • Many will still remain passionate readers of printed versions

  • When every sphere of life will be driven by technology, many will consider accessing these conventional means as a way to break the mundane

  • Many will try to avoid using virtual means to remain away from health issues like weakening eyesights

  • Many will not be so tech savvy

  • There will still many areas that will be out of bounds for power, technology and network and one will still have to depend on these traditional means

Introduction 1 :-

Ever since virtual technology entered the domain of imparting knowledge about various subjects and current events, many have started using it as their main source of staying up-to-date, giving rise to a speculation that the printed text will soon become a thing of the past, but this doomsday prediction may not completely hold true.

Introduction 2:-

The way more and more are shifting towards virtual mediums, and shunning paper-based text, to access knowledge, and updates about current events, engendering  speculations that the latter will soon become a thing of the past, but I feel this prediction may not be completely true.

The  soft versions of books, and newspapers will gain favours from an increasing numbers of readers owing to unprecedented convenience these offer: one does not need to wait for paper based material to be published, or arrived at the doorstep, for one can get the latest inputs through e-papers, articles,  portals, and e-journals, to name a few, as soon as , they are uploaded. Similarly, the future generation will have little time to compile, and consult multiple resources due to limitations of space, and affordability; they will be able to store huge data in their portable handheld devices. These factors will turn conventional means obsolete.

Moreover, the rising enlightenment about environment protection will surely push many to go for paperless tools as this will discourage deforestation, and help the planet. Eminent environmentalist Dr. Prabal Sharma has confirmed this after assessing the views of over 2 million people, especially youngsters, world over who admit favouring this medium due to its eco-friendly nature

Nevertheless, the conventional mediums, despite losing followers, will continue to exist, by virtue of acting as a healthy distraction for the billions forced to engage with technology in every sphere of their life: ranging from professional work to entertainment. Likewise, few alternatives can offer similar relaxation as paper-based versions, and many will continue with this conviction.

Therefore, both the new and the old methods of transferring information will continue to co-exist, and the latter will be used by an ever increasing number of humans to escape the mundane during leisure.

Ielts Essay - Vertical or Horizontal Cities?
As urban town planners struggle to discover ways to resolve issues facing modern cities - in terms of accommodating population and sustenance of environment, the society stands divided in two partisan groups: ones supporting life in cities with horizontal development, and others vouching for urban areas that have grown vertically.

Most urbanites prefer residence and employment in metros that have a plenty of high-rise buildings. Such locations are quite compact and self-sufficient in almost all aspects: they offer much shorter commuting times between homes, offices and places of leisure, that are often located within a close vicinity of each other. This leaves people with ample time to allocate to each part of their lives, professional and personal. Moreover, such settings also offer a sense of security, as due to being compact, locals are familiar with areas and each other.

Similarly, vertical cities are known to be environmentally friendly. More and more populace - bitten by environment protection bug, is choosing such areas over others; locations having lesser multi-storey buildings predispose deforestation. Furthermore, most of high-rises are also designed with an aim of conserving and, in fact, generating own energy, by use of non-conventional methods and fuels, like solar power, etc.

However, conservative lobby still favors horizontal urban settings: they feel, horizontal arrangement offers a good quality of life: the pressure of population is far lesser which aids in better utility services; having green front and back yards offers superior comfort due to availability of abundant sunlight and fresh air; surroundings and skyline are a very pleasing sight, unlike the street canyons in the concrete jungles of high-rises.

In a nutshell, both the vertically and horizontally developed urban metropolis have their own benefits and shortcomings; hence judging which is a better place to live is impossible.

Ielts Essay - Streaming Students
Nowadays, as academic excellence is gaining prominence, people have started exploring ways to achieve it. Expert educationalists have come up with suggestions of educating pupils with outstanding capabilities separately, and also offering specialized training, while others voice their concerns over such a practice.

Grouping students on the basis of their intellect, can be of a great help to all students. The most prominent of the advantages will be: the gap in performance of outstanding and average, or below average students is eliminated; and all pupils get to study in an environment that is harmonious and stress free. Practice of streaming does also help in providing kids a level playing field where they compete with others who have similar capabilities.

Similarly, most of the bright young learners will reap rich benefits in this kind of  a setting, in form of an uninterrupted attention of teachers. It has been observed that in a classroom arrangement, the teachers tend to prioritize weaker pupils, which often results in slow and repetitive work. If the pupils are segregated on the basis of their learning abilities, teachers can focus completely on them. Moreover, such an arrangement can create opportunities for offering specialized courses as per inclination of young ones, owing to their inquisitive and quick learning skills.

However, some strongly point out at the failing of such an arrangement since young learners are denied a chance to interact with pupils of varied capabilities, the biggest losers being the average students; thus making them lose opportunities to enrich their experience and knowledge. This setting can offset the very objective and advantages of a harmonious educational system that proposes equality and homogeneity.

Henceforth, I feel, kids should be taught together in mixed ability classes instead of classifying them on basis of their intelligence.

Many people believe that women make better parents than men and that is why they have the greater role in raising children in most societies. Others claim that men are just as good as women at parenting. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Ielts Essay - Who's a Good Parent Men or Women?

When it comes to deciding about who has the potential to be better at parenting, women, as per some conservationists, seem to be miles ahead of their men counterparts, but recent changes in the social roles have forced the social experts to look at this issue once again, with a new perspective.

Modern concept of parenting challenges the supremacy of women, in terms of rearing the children. Fathers, although traditionally have been known to don the roles of social coaches, helping to forge social relations, and emotional guides, teaching the children to deal with emotions – even scary sometimes, they have started performing even those duties, like changing diapers, with an equal finesse.

However, conventional definitions of roles of men and women, in a family, have existed ever since humans evolved on this planet, as hunters and food gatherers. Men were, more or less, concerned with looking for food, while women, donning the roles of rearing children. This role set has continued down the centuries, and perhaps also found its mention in many religious scriptures across the world. Many orthodox societies also define it as a law of nature, where women have been designated to take care of children.

Moreover, various psychological explanations also illustrate why women enjoy an upper hand, in the realm of parenting, over men. They are better equipped with setoff emotions and control mechanism that make them stand apart. Females use a mix of emotions, aggression and strategies to educate, play, monitor and control juveniles. Youngsters quite often find it easier to connect with their mothers since the latter happen to be the first teachers who communicate with kids through linguistics and affection.

In the nutshell, even though both the perspectives hold great substance in their own virtue, I feel that both genders have similar expertise when it comes to rearing offpsring, especially in the modern times.

Ielts Essay - Cruelity on Animal
Off late as the animal lovers have been raising their pitch against use of animals being used as test beds for medicines and cosmetics, various sections of the society have been at poles. Some feel this is testing on animals is sheer cruelty, while others think that there is nothing wrong in this.

Activists vouching for animal rights feel that testing impact of medicines and other substances is unethical since this involves subjecting poor animals to the trauma of sickness and disease. It is quite cruel to put lives of animals in danger for the sake of humans.

However, testing on animals has been going on since a long time, and the animals used for experiments are not on the endangered list, but ones that perish or are killed, each year, by use of rat poison, rat traps, etc. Several million humans owe their lives to the successful lab simulations on the animals. The effectiveness and safety of use of such formulations were actually proven by these very tests.

Similarly, scores of medicines and surgical procedures have been perfected with the help of lab testing on the rats and mice. Although nowadays scientists are happy carrying out tests on simulated environment of computers, it is impossible to test use and effectiveness of pacemakers, reattaching severed limbs and procedures like kidney and heart transplants on virtual environment. All of these processes were actually tested and perfected in clinical trials. Without using animals for testing formulations or procedures for effectiveness and safety, the medical field would come to a standstill and jeopardize lives of millions of patients waiting desperately for some respite from their medical conditions.

To conclude, I feel that there is nothing wrong in carrying out experiments  on animals for sake of saving humans lives.

Some cities restrict how stylish and unique can houses and offices be that people construct. Do you think this approach is acceptable?

Ielts Essay on Creative Constructions

Modern living entails living in clusters, towns and urbanized locales – that experience unexpectedly high population pressure, making it imperative for city planners to apply modular urban planning concepts strictly, and quell freedom in designing and planning of homes and offices. However, such an arrangement is unexpectedly harsh and unacceptable

Those supporting this policy assert that unrestricted designing and building can precipitate some really tricky, and hard to resolve complications; as inhabitants, in an attempt to add more beauty to their individual structures – either houses or offices, make neighborhoods look ugly; a majority often tend to cover even the area, otherwise meant to be earmarked as open spaces, resulting in a nightmare for the urban town planning.

Nevertheless, affording liberty, in terms of distinct facades and layouts of residential and commercial units can allow creativity to bloom. Independence provided allows individuals to use their imaginations and aspirations, bringing out some rare and admirable masterpieces. Moreover, this can also help in fostering innovation, as one can incorporate newer concepts that permeate using the space rationally, and also use of environmentally friendly methods.

Moreover, as many surveys suggest, deploying liberal policies in this realm can aid in proliferating greater positive sentiments in comparison to strictly controlled designs, for such provisions offer urbanites a chance to reflect their distinct personal and professional objectives, and endeavors; thus allowing them to use their resources to fulfill their dreams; and experience satisfaction, by using the space as per their wish

To cap it all, this trend has umpteen benefits that overwhelm the pitfalls; thus individuals should be allowed to use their creativity in planning and building residential units and offices. After all, one invests their savings and also often loans money to design their living spaces as per their expectations.

Nowadays leisure industry products and modern gadgets are widely used by young people. The use of these products reduces the young generation’s creativity. Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Give your own opinion.

Modern Gadgets and Creativity - Ielts Essay
Use of modern technology has always fetched both accolades and brickbats, as supporters and critics have their arguments to prove their points. Many feel that the advent of latest hi-tech leisure equipment being produced by various companies has impeded creativeness among the younger generation.

Availability of modern equipment has encouraged young people, especially the students to abandon their exploratory skills, and rely on the modern facilities being extended by IT. No more do the young people use their instincts and logic – in exploring material to resolve issues and problems – to complete the tasks, but instead they simply use handy gizmos to  do most of exploratory work. For instance, it is being observed that whenever the students get an assignment, they simply browse the internet; access web portals; and copy paste whatever they come across. Visiting libraries; reading books; and conceptualizing an original work have become things of the past.  Furthermore, the young generation, due to being able to access various services from the comfort of various indoor settings, shuns active social life. They seldom go out for shopping and meeting others – that used to help in picking important tips about social behavior and hone observation skills.

However, the other school of thought does not concur with this notion. As per them, modern technology has instead afforded the much required launch pad to the growing ups to explore ways of picking up, refining and implementing their creative skills.  Now, the young learners are better equipped to expose the world to their abiilties. To corroborate, one using computer-based music creators, do not need one to focus on fine tuning their manual instruments, but can focus on improving their music notes and create masterpieces easily.

Overall, disputes aside, although many do support this notion, humans, especially yooungsters have learnt to adapt to the new ways and deploy them to bolster their resourcefulness. Thus, I fail to acede to this statement.

Ielts Essay - Multiple Careers

When the life is transforming fast, and professional and personal ambitions of the people are aiming for a high, people have started thinking about taking up multiple careers to satisfy their inquisitive attitude. This, however, also implies that people would need to pursue education throughout their lives.

The cost of the living has risen manifolds, and even in situations where both spouses, if people are married, are working, they are seldom able to earn money to suffice their requirements. The situation sometimes becomes even more grim for the people living single, as they do not have anybody to provide them financial back-up in case of emergencies. This has forced many people to plan and take up many careers at one time, and education being the key to gaining skills for harnessing benefits from diverse trades, individuals pursue education continuously.

In addition to this, having ability to work in multiple trades at the same time has also become a sort of trend today; and the availability of the resources, aided by modern technology, has further inspired the people to think about taking up multiple jobs, as many are able use IT resources to their advantage, e.g. one of my friends who is a lecturer in Delhi University also works part time for many agencies requiring online content, and to gain proficiency in this trade, he did a special SEO development course.

However, most people are content with a single job and are strongly against taking up employment in several locations at the same time. As per them, pursuing multiple jobs makes them lose their focus, and sometimes can have dire consequences.

In the nutshell, I feel that the idea of multiple careers is fast gaining popularity, so education would continue lifelong.

Ielts Essay - Truth n relationships

There has been an eternal debate about the validity of certain factors in longe lasting human relationships as many people feel that the longevity of the relationships can only  be ensured with truth, while some other refute this and quote several strong reasons to support their views.

Truthfulness has always been preached as a basic human trait since ages by various scholars. The interaction between the people, that is not based on truth, is always ambiguous and seldom last, as it is believed that like the sun cannot be  camouflaged by the clouds for a long period of time, the truth appears in its full and true form. This has the potential of creating trouble later for the people and causing bad blood among them.

In addition to that, untruth often means being dishonest, and permeates misleading others and many religious scriptures consider it to be a sin which is unpardonable. The people who base their relations on lies can never achieve peace in their relationships, and to hide a lie, they must utter more lies thus walking deeper into sins, and this can lead to a situation where the people – in relationships – may start feeling the pangs of harboring lies and the relationships may become sore.

However, it is firmly believed that truth is a not always the basic ingredient of solid relationships as truth – being facts and sometime a bitter pill to swallow – can lead to unwarranted situations and consequences, for instance, if someone in a relationship with an average looking person, due to deep affection, does not appreciate that person for his or her beauty, it would lead to disenchantment and disappointment.

In hindsight, I personally feel although truthfulness is an important feature of relations, it not an mandatory aspect for sustaining ties and relationships.

Ielts Essay - Teaching Sports to children

The health of youngsters is becoming matter of grave concern today as the growing up kids are shunning life involving physical activity and adopting sedentary lifestyle. To ease up the worsening situation, many experts have started suggesting that it would be a good idea to train youngsters in sports in schools; and they have their own arguments to quote in support of this.

Different sports, in comparison to virtual computer games, have numerous benefits to offer because while practicing sports, the kids are not only able to experience the real excitement but also are able to expend their physical energy. Involving themselves in physical activity acts as a refresher, as it ensures rejuvenation of not only the body but also on the mind – that helps in ensuring a mental and physical wellbeing – which off course can never be achieved while playing virtual games in a closed room.

Besides this, when kids go out an practice sports on open grounds or real time arenas, they naturally pick some of the most important traits – that they may require in their later lives – that involve  developing cognitive skills and learning about strategy development in coordination with other members of the team. In a way, the sports teach the children about the learning to create synchronization between themselves and others, for example practicing sports help the growing up kids ones in learning about making     adjustments and compromises and preventing violent and aggressive behavior wherever and whenever required.

On the top of that, winning and losing if it happens on the field, teaches children about rejoicing and resenting together, which as per the child psychologists, is very important since children learn about social behavior.

In the nutshell, training kids about sports can prove to be highly beneficial for them.

Ielts Essay - Should Youth follow Traditions

Ever since humans settled in form of communities, they have followed customs – endemic to regions where they evolved - and have perpetuated like sermons, and sometimes, no alteration is deemed acceptable, but should the contemporary generation be forced to embrace those, or should be given liberty to choose their way, is a matter worthy of analysis.

In the age of globalization, when disparate ethnicities world over are coming closer and diluting their individual identities, concept of diverse customs – that often fuel bias and tribal attitudes – have taken a beating. the concurrent focus is on engendering a homogeneity and harmony among distinct races of the world, madating there is a need to establish a society that follows universally acceptable perspectives. The progressive thought proposes that in this scenario, the youth should be allowed to choose whatever way they live.

Moreover, young individuals have been exposed to conditions that are largely different from the ones that existed in the past. The evevolving environment and the emerging world order need the younger generation to be creative; adaptive; and able to find its destiny with a new perspective, and the old traditions are not in any way able to cater to aspirations.

However, customs have remained an integral part of human life; and they illustrate the priceless wisdom garnered by ancestors over the ages. These traditions contain invaluable knowledge about how the civilizations developed and emerged from darker ages. Detaching from these beliefs would eventually prove disastrous for humanity as a whole; and youth being future of any society, carry the responsibility of carrying forward these traditions.

Overall, I personally feel that even though the youth should be given some room to decide on how to want to lead their lives, they must also be enlightened about the relevance of their past, so as to perpetuate their ways of life.

Ielts Essay - Computer games and children
The rising popularity of computer games among the young ones has raised alarm among many child psychologists and behaviorists;  they feel that this trend would have long lasting adverse impact on the mental and physical health though there are certain sections who feel otherwise.

Virtual games are often quoted to be the biggest show spoilers when it comes to fostering good habits among juveniles. These online and offline activities are addictive and push the children to adopt a sedentary lifestyle; the kids remain glued to their machines for hours together and ignore all other important things, especially physical activities, which as per some, can have serious consequences on their health and well-being, for instance youngsters, after wasting countless hours on these games are left with little energy to focus on sports and other calorie burning engagements which often makes them obese and lazy.

Moreover, these also lead them to confine themselves to their computer tables, and thus, lead a life devoid of any social contact. This can have severe ramifications for the development of young minds; they tend to miss critical moments and hints that would eventually help them in learning about social behavior and interaction. Similarly, certain games with violent content provioke aggressive behavior.

Nevertheless, these modern entertainment mediums are believed to be loaded with several benefits and are considered to be more productive than impediments; as many games are designed to target strategy and logic development in children. Young individuals can entertain themselves while learning a lot about organizing; strategy development and logical thinking.

To sum up, although computer-driven games do have some unfavorable impact on young minds, they also have umpteen pros which should not be ignored. However, monitoring of time tender minds spend on this activity is highly recommended.

Ielts Essay - CCTV

Increasing concern for public safety has forced authorities and law enforcement agencies to take a range of drastic steps, like installing CCTVs to ensure better security management of various locations open to public access, like shops, libraries, stations, shops and other public spaces. These measures have fetched both accolades and brickbats from various sections of society.

Close circuit television has come in a great respite; as installing these modern gadgets has helped in better monitoring of sensitive public domains prone to criminal incidents. Law enforcement agencies find it easy to apprehend perpetrators of illegal activities – on the basis of the clues made available by these hi-tech instruments; and also make preemptive efforts in curtailing such happenings – by creating a fear among anti-social elements of being caught red-handed during such acts – capable of jeopardizing public safety, for example, recent surveys suggest that several cases of theft and eve teasing have been either prevented or busted due to these machines.

Moreover, this modern introduction has instilled a sense of security among the common people, especially people dealing in valuable commodities, like gold; and those good that are prone to pilferage and theft. They are able to keep a close watch on the visitors to their shops and locations; and are able to react fast and call for police assistance.

However, CCTV concept has some serious flaws and common people find themselves cornered, for they feel being monitored all the time; and consider is as an encroachment of their fundamental rights. Several instances of misuse have also been cited, where causal female shoppers were covertly filmed inside the trying rooms.

To sum up, privacy of individual though important, but can never outweigh public safety, so CCTV is critical in today’s perspective. Squabbles apart, use of these gadgets is thus  imperative, so all objections should be ignored.

In some countries, people are allowed to keep arms, while some people feel that private citizens should not be allowed to keep arms and ammunition as it can threaten the society and pose serious problems for public safety.

Ielts Essay - Gun control or No?
Humans have always had a direct or indirect relation with arms and ammunition for a long time. But, in the modern times, many experts have started suggesting that the civilized society do not need these anymore, while some others staunchly resent this and treat the privilege of keeping weapons at par with other fundamental rights.

Possession of arms and ammunition by common citizens can pose a serious threat to public safety, especially in urban areas – where people live on the edge of outbursts due to hectic schedules. People keeping weapons are susceptible to unruly behavior, and quite often they rather tend to point guns at each other even in instances of irrelevant arguments, for example, in case of road rage in urban areas, people resort to threatening each other in which events often takes nasty turn due to use of weapons resulting in serious injuries and sometimes even death.

Moreover, the law enforcement agencies find it really hard to keep a track of these combat gadgets. Their task of managing public safety becomes even more difficult in times of certain public events, like demonstrations, elections, public rallies or events of   public importance; as there is always a risk of anti-social elements creating unrest with help of these instruments.

However, some lobbyists cite several instances, where possession of weapons has helped the residents of an area to bolster their security and ensure their safety. As per this view, law enforcement agencies cannot be present everywhere all the time; and many a times people using these instruments in self-defense have been able to keep criminals and other anti-social elements at bay.

In conclusion, I personally feel that allowing a common citizen possession of weapons is a controversial issue and should be more seriously dealt with, and discreetly allow keeping these devices.

Ielts essay - Should rich nations help poor nations
The progress of any country is gauged on three scales; health, education and trade, and these areas are the ones, where the developing countries are found lacking necessary resources and critical expertise. This has encouraged some eminent economists to suggest that elite nations must assist the poor countries in getting over these hurdles.

The assistance rendered to the poorer countries by the rich nations would lead to an upheaval of poverty stricken people – living in sub-human conditions – of the developing and underdeveloped countries. The aid extended in form or money and expertise could play a pivotal role in the inducing massive improvements in currently non-existent health services, poor educational facilities and lack of employment opportunities. This would in turn help in reducing the disparity at the global level and truly nurture the spirit of brotherhood and harmony between various countries.

Furthermore, although some may consider indirect benefits as irrelevant, international assistance would surely help the world community in curbing certain crimes, like human trafficking and high seas piracy – these crimes generally originate from underdeveloped countries. The economic benefits accruing from such initiatives could be of a greater magnitude – both for rich and poor countries; as one hand, the inhabitants would be able to improve their professional and vocational skills, on the other, the developed world could reap advantages of accessing adequately educated and healthy workforce.

However, this kind of international aid schemes have many a times proved futile and deepened the crisis further in many poor nations; as the funds granted for development are often channelized into wrong hands; and end up filling the coffers of corrupt politicians and opportunists.

To conclude, I feel that rich countries helping economically backward nations, is a practical solution for reducing the gap between the rich and the poor.
