Nowadays, more people move away from their friends and families for work. Does this development have more advantages or disadvantages?

These days, people are becoming more and more inclined towards migrating alone to other locations in search of better lifestyle and work opportunities. This phenomenon can prove to be rewarding but it poses its own challenges.

Generally, migrating to another city, or country, in search of better career opportunities, fetches chances to build successful and better paid careers one may be seeking, but unable to access back home, owing to dearth of appropriate opportunities, or intense competition. Consequently, individuals might face restrictions in career progression, and earnings, thereby inhibiting their potential and desires.  For instance, it has been seen that several accomplished professionals, specializing across a cross-section of  skills, admit that such relocation to large cities like New York, or countries like Canada, helped them attain their professional dreams, besides allowing them to earn sumptuously.

Furthermore, higher compensation not only offers stability but it also brings independence to an individual. When someone sends back money home, it brings them immense joy as they tend to  render better facilities to their kin. To illustrate, many communities in Asia and  Africa have earned their prosperity through remittances sent by their earning family members from other cities or countries.

However, the only potential drawback of migration is that individuals might initially feel alienated in an unfamiliar environment, making them prone to homesickness, and temporarily affecting them mentally; nevertheless, it is often observed that such feelings are transient, and eventually fade away with time when one starts to adapt and socialise.

In conclusion, migrating to a different city or country, affords more merits than demerits: it exposes individuals to significant career opportunities, helping augment their overall lifestyles, and the  challenge one may face is being overwhelmed by the longing to be with loved ones, despite being ephemeral.
