Happiness is considered important in life.
Why is it difficult to define?
What factors are important in achieving happiness?
Many have their own perceptions: based on their cultural or socioeconomic background, familial environment, when it comes to defining this term
For some it is wealth, for others it is professional feats
Some are happy when they see others suffering
There are some who want smiles on faces of their loved ones
There are those who find happiness in helping others
Some even seek eternity
Important factors
It is a state of mind
Enough resources to lead a comfortable life
Closeness in relationships
A stable social environment
A sense of fulfillment with whatever available
Happiness is one eternal goal that everyone has incessantly pursued, but as always found it challenging when it comes to elucidating it; since its experience hinges on individual prerogative. However, certain factors like physical and mental wellbeing, underpin this state of mind.
The definition of contentment is quite elusive (amorphous); this feeling is highly subjective matter, and different individuals interpret as per their own aspirations. Whereas some consider materialistic possessions as a source of enjoyment that allow them to lead a comfortable life, others find satisfaction in chasing and attaining professional feats. Furthermore, there are those who feel euphoric when they are socially active and visible, and are acknowledged by their peers, acquaintances, and so forth.
Conversely, there are people with completely disparate perspectives about gaining a sense of elation when they are surrounded by their loved ones. To corroborate, several eminent human behaviourists, from MIT, have conducted studies, and ascertained that this element makes a difference even for the affluent. Moreover, many experience enjoyment by helping the deprived and down-trodden, and being a contributor to the upliftment of society.
Nevertheless, although several aspects decide the level of fulfillment with life, physical and mental wellbeing that allows an autonomous lifestyle; a sense of purpose; a conducive social environment; healthy relationships; financial security, a valid concern in a majority of impoverished societies; and a positive attitude, among others, are certain ubiquitous components that help one feel jubilant and over the moon.
In hindsight, notwithstanding the variations in individual perceptions that bank upon money and socially active life, and so on, one can ensure their emotional wellbeing through robust health and relationships, living in friendly and safe surroundings and certainty about availability of sufficient monetary resources up to a certain extent, can afford a fulfilling life.
