In the current era, a common perception  rules the fascination of people that private means of transit offer incomparable benefits which modes of mass transit is never matched. But is this really the case, is something that needs a deep analysis.

Undeniably, the benefits afforded by private mobility modes are inimitable, the most prominent being unsurpassable convenience and freedom. One intending to undertake a journey does not need to go to a bus or a railway station to start a trip, and can instead initiate it from their doorstep. Not only this, they can directly arrive at their destination, saving them invaluable time and efforts. Apart from this, one is also emancipated/liberated of the obligation of following a timetable along with bearing the delays caused by scheduled stops enroute.

Similarly, many also enumerate a major attribute that makes individual modes the most favoured method of commuting, the safety. Private four wheelers and two wheelers are considered to be a safe bet when travelling with women, children and elderly. This mode provides protection against any untoward incident that could jeopardize the safety of travellers. Moreover, in wee hours, only this mode can provide a reliable means of commuting.

Nevertheless, despite certain weaknesses, the mass transit system offers a healthy alternative, in terms of affordability and environmentally friendly. This medium can be approached by all, regardless of their economic backgrounds; thus, rendering mobility to society. Also, since fewer units are required to move more and more commuters, which eliminates traffic snarls and, thereby, mitigating  pollution.

In hindsight, I strongly feel that even though private conveyance does enjoy an edge over the public modes of transit in certain areas, the latter is more acceptable, by virtue of its crucial characteristics which dwarfs its failing

An eternal public discourse  seems to be doing round among various quarters regarding the choice of transit, between owned and public. Both the partisan factions cite benefits and pitfalls of both,  but it is to be seen if the advantages of these  modes outshine failings of the other, or not.

When it comes to travelling, many prefer their own means over the public ones, citing several benefits of these. This  has fetched flak from supporters of mass transit who in turn highlight the advantages of these modes.

Whether the benefits of commuting by own means outshine the pitfalls of using public means, is an  intriguing question which has fetched mixed reactions. It is necessary to delve deeper into this issue to determine the facts.

The noise due to incessant honking of horns, as well as hustle-bustle, caused by the crowd in the public transport turn the journey of passengers into an extremely stressful and exhausting experience, thereby leading to severe headaches. Nevertheless, the personal means of the transit system renders an opportunity to people to enjoy lighter moments with their nears and dears without any disturbance simultaneously helping in making memories together.

Similarly, in case of urgencies people are required to wait for the public vehicles which leads to the wastage of time and makes it difficult for the travellers to reach the destination on time while round the clock availability of personal conveyance at their disposal is quite conducive in such situations. Moreover, in the contemporary era, a plethora of crimes has witnessed a spike, which has made travellers quite apprehensive, often pushing them to contemplate before commuting in public transport, particularly during off-peak hours; however, private vehicles render safety to individuals travelling at any point of time.

However, the mass transit system is quite economical, and the maintenance of such vehicles is not a matter of concern for the travellers, whereas private conveyance fails to offer these advantages to its owner. Furthermore, these vehicles aid in alleviating social disparities by eliminating the bias from the society by rendering similar services to all, irrespective of their social status.

To reiterate, the positive aspects of the personal transport system entirely eclipse the negative aspects of public means owing to the safety, convenience and several other benefits rendered by the former means of transit.

Ielts Essay - Transport Private or Public

With mobility topping the priorities of average household, more and more people are inclined to possessing a personal transport in form of a two or a four wheelers. This has generated a sizeable turnover for automobile companies which are out to encash the perceptions of benefits of people over the public transportation mediums.

The biggest advantage often cited by travelers who prefer using personal transport instead of public medium is unprecedented mobility. People have all the flexibility of time and convenience at their disposal and they are able to move around freely without having to rely on the time table prone schedule of buses and trains and also without facing the mood swings and awkward behavior of cab drivers. Their own personal transportation means makes them master of their own will and they can go anywhere as per their wishes.

Moreover, people preferring private medium of transportation also means reducing public expenditure of the governments. The government is relieved of a major social initiative of providing subsidized public amenities of transport to people and it can use the funds in other more critical and essential areas. The expansion of private modes by the people also enhances opportunities for raising money by means of levies and taxes on private transport.

On the contrary, many enumerate some serious drawbacks of  increasing preference for use of personal means of transportation has led to creation of traffic jams and snarls. Society today face a more severe problem of rising pollution due to the extensive use of fossil fuel by these individual mobility modes.

In my opinion an increasing preference for personalized use of transport is leading to creation of multiple problems. These demerits surely dwarf the advantages that a car or motorcycle could generate for the masses.
