Children playing team sports learn life skills. Do you agree or disagree?
There is a lobby that believes children acquire a plethora of life skills such as social and moral values by playing together in a group; however, the opponents consider this practice to be counterproductive. This essay will justify the rationale behind the former perception by conducting a critical analysis.
Many have hailed the idea of juveniles playing in a group. Their perspectives are founded on the fact that in team sports, the growing minds receive an opportunity to learn about forging/fostering social bonds, establishing coordination with other players, thereby cultivating communication and social skills, which later help them to turn extrovert and muster confidence to initiate conversation while approaching others. Moreover, surmounting challenges together help them learn about moral values, empathy, kindness, and sharing, among others, making them more adaptable to operate efficiently in conjunction with others, in personal and professional realms later, as adults.
Furthermore, attaining triumph in a team game involves tremendous joint efforts, and at times, supporting less performing team mates, making young minds realize the value of taking joint responsibility for negotiating designated tasks, and some have been observed to gain the ability to take ownership and lead from the front.
However, some parents outrightly reject this notion. They believe playing together in the team fails to train their wards about critical acumen they may need in future, except overindulgence with their peers outside the field. As per them, tender minds need explicit instructions, provided by academic work, and not subtle hints rendered by group sports, to actually learn something useful.
To reiterate, I strongly feel that team sports turn the growing minds into confident and responsible individuals capable of overcoming difficulties with ease in personal and vocational situations and make them adept in social skills with superior moral values.
