Long distance flight consumes the amount of fuel that a car uses for many years and pollutes the air. Some people think that we should discourage non-essential flights, such as tourists travel, rather than limit the use of cars. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

The ubiquity of air travel, especially one covering vast distances, has found itself in the eye of storm, and allegedly cog in the wheel of the environment imbroglio, besides causing wastage of fuel, thereby persuading  environmentalists to curb unnecessary use of this facility, instead of proscribing cars. However, this suggestion lacks foresight, and cannot be considered plausible.

Advocates of such policy assume that an airborne aircraft tends to burn surfeit propellant, and releases emissions profusely, causing deterioration in the quality of air, so curtailing use of this medium of travelling to distance locales would mitigate pollution by alleviating discharge of effluents and greenhouse gases,  easing the situation greatly.

Nevertheless, this postulation sounds preposterous; it  lacks  any concrete evidence to substantiate the fears about aircraft operating between distant locations being the primary culprit for the deterioration in the quality of air squandering of invaluable non-renewable resource since most of these jets fly at extremely high altitudes, between 28,000 and 40,000 feet, where they use the propellent frugally, something comparable to a personal four wheeler, so the tall claims and accusations about environmental decay being caused by these  flying machines fall flat.

Similarly, when it comes to comparing the capacity used by both, while cars can only carry about eight people per trip, modern airliners, like Boeing 777, carry over three hundred passengers, and  that over extremely vast distances, a feat beyond the former. Additionally, none travels unnecessarily, and  tourist activity is a critical economic activity: a behemoth industry generating employment for millions and business  worth billions.

Therefore, any suggestions made about halting dispensable flying for the good of the planet  should be completely overlooked, and long flight  should continue. The  panacea lies in discovering better and  greener technologies and  not impeding economic activities.

Yes

  • To be accepted by locals more closely “When in Rome, do as Roman do”, rendering them a chance to look at the host ways of life more closely

  • THis can also prevent them from offending local aspirations

  • Protection from becoming victims of crimes

No

  • Against the globalized  ethos: those visiting are there to experience diversity and not abandon their own beliefs.

  • Harboring hostile attitudes may hamper the reputation of the country and keep visitors away: affecting the tourism badly, and earnings in foreign exchange

  • Affecting the relationships between societies

Many suggest that those undertaking journeys to diverse regions of the globe must embrace the ways of the life of the host society. This proposal is quite prudent, and promises rich experiences to those visiting alien surroundings

To begin with, making adjustments in the attitude to complement the native lifestyles of the destination can help  visitors prevent themselves from becoming the subject of wrath(anger) of the locals, and instead being accepted more readily by the latter; they feel that their customs have been acknowledged. This can precipitate(result in creating ) a conducive environment, wherein one can explore differences and also uniqueness of the culture being visited, and create nostalgic memories, thereby fulfilling the fundamental purpose of travelling. Several travelogues written by avid backpackers (keen travellers ) clearly highlight the relevance of this aspects as most were well-received by people of countries they went to simply because they followed local traditions and even etiquettes.

On top of that, following this strategy can be of great avail to the ones visiting other parts of the world by virtue of safeguarding them from criminal activities and unwarranted situations. It has been often observed that foreign travellers tend to become easy victims of petty crimes, or overcharging.  However, familiarising oneself with ways endemic to the destination nation such as wearing the local attire, learning and using the local dialect, and so forth, allows mingling with natives effortlessly, and being treated equally. A growing number report that when they behaved the same way, a national would do, illegal elements stayed away and the shopkeepers treated them with respect and with equality.

In hindsight, it can be safely asserted that when in Rome, do as Romans do,so that one can enjoy their travel, experience the customs and traditions of host societies more closely.

Intro 1:- In times, when more and more are undertaking journeys to diverse regions of the globe their conduct has come under a critical scanner, and many suggest that they should embrace the ways of life of the host society. Although some challenge this practice, I believe that this is the most prudent way of experiencing an alien surrounding. Intro 2 :- Of late, a suggestion has surfaced that those undertaking journeys to diverse regions of the globe must embrace the ways of life of the host society.I concur with this proposal, and shall elucidate reasons to validate(support/bolster/augment) my stand/stance in the following paragraphs. Today more people are traveling than ever before. Why is this the case? What are the benefits of traveling for the traveler?

Today more people are traveling than ever before. Why is this the case? What are the benefits of traveling for the traveler?

In contemporary times, traveling has become ubiquitous. There are several reasons behind this phenomenon. This essay shall discuss some of these as well as various benefits associated with it.

The world is fast becoming highly globalized, offering more exposure to foreign cultures. People have become aware of far-off destinations as they consume media from other countries, thereby influencing their perceptions and coaxing them to visit  those destinations. Moreover, many can afford journeying, by virtue of higher disposable incomes, pursuing many to undertake voyages to exotic locations to experience once in a lifetime adventure, and affording them the privilege  to flaunt in front of their peers.

Also, cheaper airfares that have made flying economically viable for middle-income strata are also fueling this phenomenon; previously one had to pay out of their nose while undertaking such an endeavor.  Additionally, youngsters are jumping onto this bandwagon to experience worldly ways before they embark on their further academic or professional pursuits.

This evolution has helped fetch a prominent benefit: it is helping in broadening horizons of those engaging in such endeavors, letting them comprehend the nuances of different cultures and customs. Owing to this, they have become more tolerant and appreciative of the diversity in the society. It also aids in instilling a sense of civic duties among those who have returned from abroad. For instance, in a survey conducted by the Hindustan times, those visiting other countries reported keen awareness about keeping their surroundings clean, and did not indulge in rampant littering as was observed among the rest of the group.

Overall, the newly evolved tendency of globe-trotting is not only an enjoyable experience but also an enriching one and a greater number of people have started exploring the world around them than in any other epoch.

Today more and more tourists are visiting places where conditions are difficult, such as the Sahara desert or the Antarctic? What are the benefits and disadvantages for tourists who visit such places?

Today more and more tourists are visiting places where conditions are difficult, such as the Sahara desert or the Antarctic? What are the benefits and disadvantages for tourists who visit such places?

Rising inclination among those wedded to the idea of exploring untrodden paths to gain unprecedented excitement out of leisure trips is taking them to  untamed and pristine locations, they are even prepared  to face the hostile environment. This, however, has both the pros and cons for such individuals.

Exploring unknown and remote realms of the planet help the travellers satisfy their lust for adventure; address their adrenaline rush; and also fetch unorthodox experience. These places, with their unpredictable conditions present a challenge- not usually experienced in conventional tourist locations- which upon overcoming fuels a sense of achievement and satisfaction, thereby quenching the thirst for doing something unique that has not been tried by others. Many can also drive an enriching experience of braving the inhospitable climate and surroundings and thus earning immortal memories.

Similarly, another major benefit that visitors to far-flung areas can obtain is the first hand experience of the unspoiled and immaculate nature in all its glory such encounters make them enlightened about the environment and its relevance for the planet. Numerous accounts shared by those who have undertaken journeys to such locations elucidate the fact that on returning back home, most have become more responsible towards nature.

However, those visiting uninhabitable conditions and areas are exposed to several hazards, as many suggest. Being away from civilization makes them vulnerable to unexpected twists and turns, which in extreme conditions could even become life threatening. For instance, falling sick, or meeting an accident could result in serious consequences due to absence of appropriate medical help.

Overall, embarking upon journeys to harsh environments and corners offer exciting opportunities to the Backpackers though the experiences can turn sour if one encounters unannounced incidents. Hence, one must be prudent about choosing such places before travelling to them.

Some people believe that the best way to spend a holiday in a foreign country is to go out to meet people, instead of staying in the hotel most of the time. What is your opinion? Give reasons and include relevant examples from your own experience.

Some people believe that the best way to spend a holiday in a foreign country is to go out to meet people, instead of staying in the hotel most of the time. What is your opinion? Give reasons and include relevant examples from your own experience.

With the exponential rise in globalization, a slew of people have started visiting different countries. There is a lobby that believes to make an overseas trip worthwhile, travellers should explore the alien society rather than staying confined within a hotel room. This essay will justify the rationale behind this perception.

Abandoning the comfort of hotel rooms and exploring alien locales, helps create interaction with the inhabitants of the destination nation and brush aside the tribal attitudes, leaving a lasting impression of affection towards hosts, by virtue of which, they are able to foster harmonious relationships with the locals, thereby mitigating the disparities. Furthermore, this intermingling with the natives affords travellers an opportunity to escape from a feeling of being isolated in the alien societies, and get familiar with the surroundings, tourist attractions, renowned eateries, markets, and so on.

Moreover, the sole purpose of a trip for the tourists, which is to explore new things will go in vain if they contain themselves inside their hotel rooms. Exploring the world outside the hotels will allow people to fetch enriching first hand experience and a deeper insight into the lifestyles of the natives of the country being visited, by letting explore a rich profusion of cultures and traditions.

To corroborate, various travellers surveys that assessed the attitudes of visitors on foreign trips for leisure reported that most respondents derived immense pleasure when they interacted with the locals of a society without external interventions. This helped them realize the true objective behind undertaking a journey to a formerly unfamiliar location.

On top of that, taking a tour of the alien surroundings and encountering unfamiliar faces and attitudes can greatly assist in satisfying the craving for adventure, an innate human propensity. Since such exploration will lead to unpredictable, though pleasant outcomes, one can derive unprecedented enjoyment which can never be had if they choose to stay indoors.

Overall,  while on an excursion overseas, one should relinquish comfortable hotel rooms to earn acquaintance with the locals. This would be of great afford for them, extending opportunities to experience diversity.

Air travel is cheap these days, allowing ordinary people to travel further. Some people say that airfare should be increased because this leads to environmental problems. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Ielts Essay - Cheap Air Travel

Despite, air travel becoming affordable due to cheap price of tickets it is also drawing a lot of flak on account of being most polluting medium of transportation. This is prompted some to suggest that air tariffs should be raised in order to bring down the pollution.

Affordable airlines tarrifs have truly changed the face of the world.  The benefits are too obvious: low cost of travelling by air has helped foster a sense of equality among the masses – by virtue of people from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds being able to use airlines to travel to various far-off destinations. Today, it is easy to find people frequenting airports to travel for expanding their businesses and seeking employment in really distant and formerly unapproachable locations.

Similarly, reduced air tariffs have stimulated an unprecedented growth in tourism and travel industry, and created opportunities for a harmonious environment. Now, people from various walks of life can plan journeys to destinations, for leisure and vacations, of their choice, regardless of their incomes. This travelling across to various distant destinations has created opportunities for intermingling with natives of those locations, and thus develop a sense of brotherhood.

However, the environmentalists attribute most of the problems related to deteriorating environment to an increase in the number of aircraft flying. A rise in number of planes taking to skies has led to a spike in use fossil fuel, thereby increasing gas emissions. Moreover, this has also led to increase in size of airports, which is of course done by clearing green cover.

Henceforth,  although aircraft are a major source of pollution, raising ticket prices would not help, and instead would prove counter productive. The need is to find greener alternatives to fossil fuels since solution lies in accelerating development rather stopping it.

Nowadays airlines provide more benefits to the rich, often achieving this by reducing areas used by the economy class to provide more comfort to the 1st class passengers. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement? Give your own opinion.

Ielts Essay - Business class in Airlines
Air travel is in vogue today and more and more travelers choose flying, it is simultaneously being observed that airlines are tempted to provide more comfort to business class fliers at the cost of economy class space, even though others think quite differently.

It seems quite natural for airlines to offer better services to fliers in business class since it fetches multiple benefits, like raised revenues and decreased costs. The passengers buying tickets in a business class pay exorbitant charges, that help airlines in boosting their revenues, and improve the per seat fare ratio. Furthermore, as high fares also mean lesser number of passengers travelling on any flight lesser flight crew members are needed per flight to cater to fliers. Some people even argue that this can also help in the bringing down the fuel consumption of the aircraft since less number of passengers would mean lesser take-off weight.

Apart from that, in the current era of low cost carriers, there is a newly emerging trend of craving among the passengers to opt for an airline that offers premium services, especially among the elite class and the people boarding extremely long distance flights. This has prompted the airlines to build up their brand image among the fliers wanting comforts, even if offered at premium.

However, as per some, in the times when commercial aviation business is passing through a very lean phase, and when almost all the airlines are struggling to survive since even the elite class passenger are becoming thrifty, offering more convenience to Y class at the cost of J class seems to be a very unlikely option.

Hence, I am not convinced that airlines provide more space to business class travelers by reducing space in economy class.

Ielts Essay - Foreign Trips How to Spend?
Travelling overseas is an exciting, but it has been quite often observed that people tend to spend time indoors confined to their rooms, or at most the within the premises they are staying. This, as per some, is not fruitful at all, while others find it useful and present their own arguments.

Spending exorbitant amount of money on travelling abroad would be hardly of any use if the people decide stay indoors. Leaving the comfort of the hotels and expending a bit of energy can give a chance to truly rejuvenate in a completely unfamiliar environment. Even though negotiating alien surroundings and bumping into unknown faces has certain level of unpredictability, it is no less exciting to encounter something not a part of mundane routine. Exposure to new surroundings and people triggers the explorer instincts and often end up providing pleasant experiences.

Moreover, spending extensive time outdoors, while travelling to an alien destination, also tends to provide an incomparable opportunity of experiencing heterogeneous civilizations. This also gives visitors a chance to be inquisitive; dig deep and discover different aspects of culture, language, lifestyles, cuisine, etc., of the country being visited. This can surely help getting rid of wrong notions about certain cultures and develop a broader perspective.

However, some people tend to be thrifty nowadays and for them the charm of going abroad is limited to reaching the hotel of an alien city. They believe globalization has helped erode the charisma of exploring foreign cities; similar clothing of inhabitants, buildings and shopping complexes of modular designs; same kind of cars and a familiar traffic conditions is not exciting.

To conclude, I believe, confining one-self indoors while touring another country would be a waste of opportunity to escape the routine and monotone.

Ielts Essay - Travelling
Affordable travelling has made it possible for travelers from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds to tread diverse and distant locations across the world. This phenomenon has been hailed by many as a positive trend even though it does also have a darker side to it.

The possibility of more and more people affording to visit overseas to distant location has opened up a whole new horizon for humanity. Travelling opens up minds and gives an opportunity to travelers to not only experience the different cultures but also assimilate them with their own. This has paved way for creating an unparalleled understanding among the natives of various countries. The travelers travel across as unofficial ambassadors of their own countries, and get a chance to interact with the locals. This intermingling paves way for a better understanding and brushing aside tribal attitudes and biases that people otherwise harbor.

Moreover, an increase in number of international travelers has helped tourism flourish and develop into a full-fledged industry which is generating huge revenues and fueling economies besides, creating employment for the locals at various levels. This has also enabled the governments of the countries being visited to fund restoration and maintenance of the locations and monuments that were otherwise in debilitated state due to absence of adequate money for maintenance.

In contrast, extensive travelling has also contributed to an unprecedented rise in pollution levels with more and more airlines flying frequently across the globe. To add to that, this trend is also leading to distortion of local economies where the people are shunning their traditional occupations and taking up seasonal employment linked to travel which exposes them to seasonal income fluctuations.

To sum up, I strongly believe affordable travel is a boon for humanity and its benefits far outweigh its drawbacks. THus, this can termed as a favorable evolution.

Air travel is cheap these days, allowing ordinary people to travel further. Some people say that airfare should be increased because this leads to environmental problems and reduce air pollution. Do you think that raising airfares would help reduce air pollution? In what extent do you agree or disagree.

Technological development has made travelling by air affordable, encouraging the use of this medium. However, frequent flying means burning more and more fossil fuel, and generating more pollution, raising an alarm among environmentalists, persuading them to suggest raising the air-tariff to curtail this situation, while some hold a contrary  view.

Some experts feel that raising the air travel fare could help reduce pollution, as increased air ticket fare would make travelling by air unaffordable for the masses, because the expenditure incurred on air tickets would be beyond the reach of many. Reduced crowds would  force the airlines to scale down operations significantly, which would in-turn, lead to significant drop in the rate of release of pollutants into the environment.

However, some feel that this move would prove ineffective, because  most use this medium to travel to distant destinations that cannot be reached comfortably and safely. Raising air travel tariff would, although affect the travelers financially, they would not abandon travelling by air. Besides this, this mode has become a habit for many. To corroborate, in countries like the USA, a majority prefers flying rather than boarding a train or a Greyhound bus; they have got used to this routine.

Similarly, low air fares - in a way, has empowered everyone, regardless of  their socioeconomic backgrounds, engendering equality - have enabled even those who could not imagine flying in the past over long distances to fulfill their needs: meet their loved one, undertake leisure travel, gain education, treatment, or access employment opportunities, among others.

In conclusion, I feel that raising air fares cannot help mitigate environmental challenges, but these allow even common people to meet their needs. The need of the hour is to develop such technologies which help in reducing the release of pollutants into air.

Ielts Essay - Should Visitors Adopt local customs

Today, when the world is fast transforming into a a global village, there is a strange agenda doing rounds among the moral Police, which feels that foreigners should follow local customs of the place they visit, while others regard this as a bias and think that the cultural diversity should be respected by the hosts.

With the World becoming a smaller place, intermingling and interaction among the people is on the rise. The visitors visit a foreign destination for leisure, cultural exchange and Business, and to experience Traditions and heritage of host nations. They cannot be expected to adopt the beliefs and ways of life of the natives and discard their own values for the sake of visiting. Such a cultural bias always poses a hostile view, which in turn, adversely affects the Visitor’s inflow. Even the immigrating people are free to continue with their traditions and cannot be forced to follow the local ways.

Besides this, in age of globalization, none can afford isolation and impress the Ghetto attitude, as this exposes the fanaticism of the native society, which adversely affect the communication between people. Moreover it is a fundamental human right to practice own legal traditions. The onus of ensuring this right lies on the Government and the community.

However, in some parts of the orthodox world, especially in the middle-east, where the western ways of life are totally incompatible, the western mannerism is sometimes too disturbing and way out of the imagination of the local populace, e.g. revealing clothes, kissing in public turns out to be insulting, which should be duly respected by the people visiting that part of world.

Overall, I personally feel that it is imperative that cultural diversity of the travelers be respected and duly safeguarded by the host country. Therefore, I concur with this notion.

Some people think that travel helps gaining knowledge, but others think that TV and internet play an important role in gaining knowledge. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Ielts Essay _ Travel or Internet?

With internet and television gaining prominence as mediums of carrying and accessing information, many people have started adapting these media as a viable alternative to traveling for gaining knowledge to different locations but there is a sizeable section which feels that there is no substitute to actual travel to enhance the knowledge.

1
As life gets busier and more complex some have completely adapted themselves to assessing internet and watching television to enhance their knowhow base about happenings and developments in adjoining neighborhoods and across the globe. They feel that this can save them substantial money and time and they can also get comprehensive information about the subject being pursued. These people use various web portals and apps to gain access to the inputs and in fact acquire  knowledge about the precise locations of happenings with several advanced apps like Google earth.

On other hand, there is large section of thinkers who feel that the conventional way of enhancing the inputs and exposure to the outer world: physical travel can never be superseded by the virtual mediums. As per them, come what may actual travel helps experience and see the real dimensions and essence of the happenings and subject being pursued, something that can never be attained using virtual media.

Moreover, in order to gain first hand and unbiased information about the subject of the pursual it is important for the people to actually be there in middle of the happenings as the information flow in case of the internet and television actually travels through many junctions and its impartial clarity is always questionable.

In conclusion, I feel that even though internet and television have successfully replaced many mediums of gaining inputs but travelling will remain unchallenged source of enhancing knowledge.
