The contemporary generation of parents tends to purchase too many playthings for their wards. While this may have certain benefits, it is likely to create numerous complications. In this essay, I shall examine both pros and cons, and render a plausible conclusion.

One significant benefit of affording more than required play equipment is that this can keep little ones engaged throughout the day when they are alone at home, by virtue of their mothers and fathers being engaged in meeting, professional, social and familial obligations. This practice, as per its advocates, comes in quite handy, in times, when youngsters are forced to confine themselves indoors in absence of their elders, and their care cannot be entrusted to others. They can circumvent hazards, and also feelings of loneliness.

Nonetheless, despite offering perceived safety, this is a concerning trend: it is likely to have severe ramifications. The most prominent drawback is that children may develop a materialistic attitude, and fail to appreciate the value of their possessions. When they receive new play equipment, they may quickly lose interest in older one, and always expect more gifts from their parents. For example, many children abandon newly purchased toys within a few days because they become accustomed to having many alternatives available. Above all, this can be detrimental for young minds, hampering their concentration levels. With numerous toys around them, they often switch from one to another play equipment without spending enough time, or  engaging meaningfully with any single activity.

In hindsight, although a wide variety of playthings may keep children out of harm’s way, this is bound to prove counterproductive: distorting behaviour and shortening attention spans of tender minds. Therefore, families should maintain a balance and provide toys thoughtfully rather than inundating their  progeny with too many options.

In the contemporary era, parents tend to purchase a large number of toys for their children to keep them engaged and busy. This essay will discuss the merits and demerits of this notion.

To begin with, parents buying plenty of toys for their children because of their busy lifestyles carries a perceived benefit: these playing gadgets compensate for the absence of the elders during the day, due to their hectic work schedules, keeping the latter busy and engaged, and not feeling abandoned. While this may help the child temporarily escape the boredom, it cannot replace the emotional support and attention required from parents.

Furthermore, although toys can play an important role in the overall development of youngsters, having plenty of them can spoil them. When tender minds are surrounded by surfeit playthings, they tend to become less appreciative and more demanding, which can later become a behavioural pattern. In addition, this can lead to isolation, turning them introverted.

Similarly, this arrangement can also lead to self-centred behaviour and diminish the habit of sharing from a very young age. Down the line, these traits can engender major problems for them in adulthood: they are likely to grow up as apathetic individuals, incapable of contributing to social causes and the environment. Above all, they may inculcate the habit of taking things for granted, and as adults, they, as per eminent child behaviorists, find themselves struggling with managing their monetary affairs.

In conclusion, although providing children with a large number of toys may keep them occupied and support the development of creative and analytical skills, it can majorly precipitate unfavorable consequences. Excessive reliance on toys may reduce physical activity and social interaction, and often persuading juveniles to seek emotional comfort in toys rather than their parents.

In the contemporary era, a slew of parents bestow on their wards a wide array of toys and games. This essay shall discuss the merits as well as drawbacks of this new phenomenon.

Nowadays, parents are intensively indulging in their professional endeavours by virtue of which they fail to devote time and to keep a round the clock vigil on their little ones. By extending a variety of toys, they substitute their time which helps their wards to escape the feeling of being isolated and also to keep them engaged in the toys rather than craving for time and attention from their mothers and fathers. Furthermore, they do not always look for the support of someone to amuse themselves.

However, this practice pushes them to play individually rather than encouraging them to engage in groups which acts as an inhibition for them in imbibing a rich profusion of social as well as moral values such as sharing, caring, communicating, developing social networks, cooperation, and so on, owing to which they fail to turn into rationale adults in the life later on. Consequently, some of them become introverts when they turn into teenagers, and due to the lack of confidence, they find it difficult to muster courage while approaching others. Moreover, this act hampers the mental growth of children since the availability of a plethora of playthings inhibits stimulation of creativity as well as imagination.

To reiterate, despite some positive aspects of rendering a plethora of toys to the young ones, its negative aspects completely eclipse the merits since it impedes their holistic development due to which they have to encounter several challenges in the years to come.

Ielts Essay - Toys But How Many???
Even though playing with toys form an inseparable of part of daily activities of childhood since this plays a pivotal role in the mental and physical development of children, how many toys are deemed suitable is matter of intense debate.

Making large number of toys available to the youngsters  has its own drawbacks since sheer volume and types of gadgets disorient, overwhelm and clutter tender minds, and interfere with thinking process. As a result, they are unable to derive satisfaction from this important activity. The fact is elucidated by the findings of various studies and experiments, tender minds find it oneorous to focus on any single toy and that prevents them from involving themselves effectively with those playthings. Consequently, they also tend to miss not only really important hints required to nurture and support creativity but also are bereft of opportunities that could be used to socialize with the family members and siblings.

Moreover, this practice makes juveniles grow up as self centered, arrogant and careless. They are rarely able to grasp critical hints about cooperating with others, especially with their own siblings. It has also been found that juveniles are not able to take care of their belongings, when in excess, but their craving and expectations for more and more toys keeps rising.

However, many justify this propensity by citing various unsubstantiated reasons such as, nowadays, families are becoming nuclear, that are many a time devoid of grandparents, and sometimes even brothers and sisters. Presence of many play devices helps lift loneliness that young individuals experience. Above all, this equipment compensate for the absence of parents during working hours.

To conclude, I believe laying surfeit toys at the disposal of young minds, is laden with umpteen drawbacks - this can make them too possessive at best, and hence, this practice should be avoided.
