In the contemporary era, the advent of technology is ubiquitous, and senior citizens are the ones who are unable to become friendly with the new introductions. I shall render the plausible reasons driving augmenting this inability, and provide the methodology to make them technology literate.

The primary factor influencing the hesitation is the functionality of these gadgets, those in the twilight years are used to equipment that was slow and  had limited  features, unlike in their modern counterparts,  which are loaded with multiple features, and hardwired to work quickly. This engenders a fear among elderly; they feel using these characteristics might make them vulnerable to several problems, especially financial frauds, so they tend to be over cautious, delaying their interaction with these  devices. A survey conducted by the University of Harvard, reported that nearly 80% of individuals getting scammed were ones in their sixties, as  easy prey for scamsters.

Fostering a penchant among the old populace can be an immaculate endeavor if families intervene. Children and grandchildren should demonstrate practical uses of these devices, and motivate their older family members to engage with them regularly. Furthermore, modern gadgets should include features such as voice commands to enhance usability, particularly for those in the later stages of life. For example, they should be exposed to features like video calling and  using devices for entertainment. As per a study conducted by Professor Surya, University of Manitoba, such steps have always made those in their autumn years keener to embrace technology more positively.

To reiterate, despite challenges such as complex technologies, age-related limitations, and preconceived notions about modern devices posing impediments, younger family members and manufacturers can assist the elderly in realizing that they can become proficient with technology even in their golden years.
