Some people think parents should read or tell stories to their children, others say it is not important and can be replaced by watching TV and movies instead. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
With changing times the concept of parenting is also undergoing a rapid transformation. Nowadays, many have started using alternative
mediums to entertain their wards; they do not think anymore that
telling them stories holds any relevance because the latter have
access to other mediums of entertainment including movies and television
programs, but there are those who feel that traditional story narration is irreplaceable.
With the new media being available to entertain children
with cartoon movies and other more informative programs and documentaries, many
parents feel that the traditional story telling has lost its relevance because modern
media always has fresh plots and new stories to narrate which attract and
influence young ones more than those repetitive and age old narratives which
were once a routine in the parent child interaction.
Moreover, the old fables and stories which have been passed down the generations always have a positive impact on the mindset of children because each of these fables, legends and allegories carry references from the lives of great people who have lived in past and have pepetuated tales of bravery and great deeds to the next generations: all these depictions are educational and influence tender minds positively.
In conclusion, I feel that substituting the conventional practice of story telling with
state-of-the-art means of narration is never possible and it will be carried down the generations
forever. Its influence will endure infinitely despite advancements in technology.
