The great public discourse of contemporary times is aligned with a view that watching television could have a negative influence on young minds, while others believe that this could be beneficial. It is, however, quite prudent to encourage engagement with this medium, but there should be some limits.

A lobby propounds that juveniles become vulnerable to umpteen ailments due to such engagement: eye fatigue, back pain and so on, by virtue of looking at the screens, irreversibly affecting their physical wellness, and precipitate serious and enduring repercussions that extend well into adulthood. To corroborate, in Japan, many youngsters report suffering from incessant back pain due to poor posture while watching TV. Moreover, this electronic device is addictive, forcing one to stay glued to the content being broadcasted prolonging engagement; consequently, making them unproductive and hampering their cognitive development

Nevertheless, a group strongly asserts that all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Watching television could have positive effects on tender minds since  it could act as a medium to vent out their stress, help them relax and rejuvenate by earning a  break from their mundane overburdened school work. This aids in holistic development of minds where both work and recreation can be balanced, especially in times when outdoor endeavors are increasingly becoming rare for young ones.

Furthermore, the TV programs can bolster knowledge of youngsters. There are several channels showcasing informative topics, which could aid in broadening horizons: documentaries, news, quizzes, and many more. For example, a recent survey revealed umpteen young individuals watch The Discovery channel to expand their knowledge, enhancing their general awareness about a plethora of topics.

In conclusion, considering the aforementioned views, I believe that excess of everything is bad, the same goes for the television too. As this invention could cause addiction and diseases, and hence it should be used within limits.

There is no doubt that watching television is seen as an indispensable part of the lives of many. Although many believe it is harmful for children, others oppose this notion, and feel it can affect positively. This essay shall critically scrutinise this matter and draw a plausible conclusion.

To embark upon the discussion, a school of thought professes watching TV plays an essential role in the development of young minds; they learn a great deal and expand their horizons from watching educational  programmes, such as sports and channels like discovery, to name a few. This can help not only them gain knowledge about the planet and universe but also aid in developing knowledge and interest in sports. On top of that, it provides them with facts and philosophy of aspects of life; they showcase shows related to history that entertain and educate them as well. Besides this, it helps them improve their language skills; children tend to grasp new vocabulary from television.

Having said that, the critics throw up their arms in horror, and suggest that this device has unfavorable impacts, and youngsters should not view it. Spending  too much time watching TV can weaken their eyesight. To corroborate, a survey conducted by University of New York revealed since the launch of TV, 95 percent of children complain of weak eyesights, and must sport spectacles. Not only that, they become addicted and lazy; they do not feel the need to step outside and indulge in outdoor activities, ending up confining themselves in their rooms.

To conclude, disputes aside, I feel even though juveniles can develop interests in different fields by watching TV, they might quarantine themselves and become lazy and addicted, that could have dire consequences for their health, and future.
