Children are facing more pressures nowadays from academic, social and commercial perspectives. What are the causes of these pressures and what measures should be taken to reduce these pressures?
In a fast paced world, change in the external environment has posed some serious concerns towards children. They can be often seen struggling, doing hard work to gain knowledge and competitive edge over others. As a result, most of them are overburdened with responsibilities and stress which must need to be addressed and worked upon.
Nowadays, one of the most common distressing issue contributing to the ever rising pressure on children is the lack of institutional opportunities. It can be widely observed that more than ever, children have to compete with each other to hold the privilege of having higher education and sometimes need to migrate to different places.
Moreover, family expectations has also pushed child into pressurising situations wherein they are expected to gain knowledge, try to get success as early as possible or be the best among the next door children. In addition, commercials also appeals to children and influence their mental ability to a great extent, e.g. they see the latest models of cell phones and other items with their peers and want to buy them. When they are unable to do so, they get stressed and feel discomfort.
Easing the mounting pressure on juveniles is possible if formal tuition must encourage healthy competition and offer necessary courses, such that children should feel safe and secure about their future and do not have to migrate. Furthermore, parents should provide adequate space to their children to grow naturally rather than comparing with others and pressurising them to study. Also, they must promote sportsmanship spirit such that they respect their peers.
In conclusion, children must be shielded from the mounting pressure exercised from academic, social and other institutions. An integrated strategy between the parent, and institutions should be in place in order to provide them with a stable and stress free environment.
