It is being increasingly noticed that young learners that, once they join college, tend to lose their interest in studies. This phenomenon stems from various factors, and needs suitable panacea to surmount this problem

In the school days, pupils find themselves facing a daunting task of excelling in their examinations, and consequently, they are predisposed to a humongous pressure from their parents and also from the faculty, forcing them to devote a majority of their time to negotiating academic obligations: learning, negotiating assignments and projects, and so on, but the moment they graduate and enroll into a varsity, they encounter a surprising circumstance where there is a complete absence of such pressure, luring them  to engage in extracurricular activities.

Another reason often fueling disinclination from academic pursuits is the freedom and a laid back environment: there is no dress code to comply with; and absence of rule of stipulated attendance. Additionally, many also start their professional courses side by side, making them forgo classes in their university .There are others opting for a break from their higher studies for a year which distracts them from studies. Furthermore, many take up part time jobs to earn some extra money for their expenses.

However, there are some practical solutions available. Universities must start the workshops to get students updated with new skills, not only this, if the institutions start offering professional courses along with academic ones, students will not need to venture outside the universities to join professional courses, reinforcing their interest in academics.

In hindsight, the detachment from academic routines at university is primarily caused by undue stress faced during, besides other more plausible reasons, nonetheless it is easy to engender inclination among university goers provided prudent policies like initiating trade-specific courses, are embraced.
