While some say that the role of tutors should be confined to only delivering the syllabus, and exclude the task of acting as motivators, I strongly detest this, and find this suggestion lacking in substance.
Those advocating this policy feel that a faculty must only commit themselves to planning and disseminating lessons; this will help them to structure their classroom sessions better, and ensure timely delivery of all the topics included in the study plan without distraction, and leaving them with ample time for revision, and testing pupils, allowing assessment of abilities more objectively, polishing scholastic acumen, of learners, critically needed to progress professionally.
However, if this system were to deployed, the fundamental purpose - that transcends the mere imparting of the bookish knowledge - of schooling would be defeated; it is the sole medium of ensuring all round development of the persona of learners that goes beyond the scholastic dexterity, and also guarantees inculcating a positive approach towards life through fostering and promoting change in behavior, and perceptions towards surroundings, and educators are the primary agents of this process.
Similarly, teaching professionals are the only source in the outer world that can help students discover their latent talent, and inspire them to develop capabilities to pursue their goals in various domains: academics, personal, social and professional. To illustrate, several successful personalities, such as Ellon Musk and APJ Abdul Kalam Azad credit their achievements to their teachers who besides tutoring them, also took up the roles of mentors, helping them chart a certain course in life.
In hindsight, the role of those engaged in teaching cannot be limited to simply preparing their audience academically, for they have access to the capabilities of students, and thus can persuade the latter, using this knowledge, successfully.
