Nowadays more and more people want to live by themselves. What are the reasons? Is it a positive or negative trend?
In concurrent times, a growing number of individuals are keen on living independently that can be attributed to several causes. Even though this phenomenon affords some benefits, it is also associated with pitfalls. In the following paragraphs I will elaborate the motivation behind this evolution along with pros and cons.
To start with, the generation gap is the primary cause of this change as it has a potential to create conflicts between the parents and youngsters. It has been found in studies that parents want their children to follow their instructions, but the latter want to chase their own dreams and experience the world as per their aspirations. Thus, they choose to shun a life that invites interference from others and opt for a lifestyle they can control.
Living independently predisposes one to developing a broader mindset. Moreover, undeniably, those leading a cloistered life tend to be well-organized in numerous facets of life like managing household chores; preparing the meals for themselves; and controlling their financial affairs. Similarly, one can find mental peace in this situation as no one will be there to complain about the routines.
However, this arrangement is fraught with several detriments. Absence of appropriate guidance from near and dear ones, primarily parents, can encourage one to commit mistakes and blunders. On top of that, this lifestyle can make people unsocial, by making them used to living in isolation. It has been found in various parts of the world that most of the cases of depression were found among the youngsters living alone.
To conclude, I strongly feel that this is an unfavorable evolution. even though differences in opinions can sometimes be impediments, one should live with their parents and families for better guidance and invaluable experience.
