These days more teenagers and young people are committing crime. What is the cause? How should they be punished for this?

Recent times are witnessing an increment in unlawful endeavors, especially by youngsters. There is a brewing discussion about its root, and the respective method to retribution. This essay shall delve deeper into both issues and draw a plausible conclusion.

To embark on this discussion, recent statistics depict a surge in criminal indulgence by juveniles and social behaviorists cite umpteen reasons for this phenomenon: the handiness of drugs, weapons, and easy money is the vicious triad often blamed for young one going ashtray, and they resort to committing crimes once they are bereft of resources; besides this it is desperation and lack of guidance that motivate many to beg, borrow and steal.

Additionally, many propound the proliferation of unemployment among youth as another basis of nefarious acts since jobs are scarce and skyrocketing prices of everything bring no benefit for them being law-abiding citizens. These jobless must fend for themselves, and to fulfill their basic needs, they prefer shortcuts. A study by the New York state Department of Justice revealed that 80 percent of jobless young people are involved in some or the other kinds of deviant ways.

Several criminologists propose a holistic approach that embraces punitive methods to penalize young perpetrators(law breakers) that are also rehabilitative in nature. As per them, young offenders should be provided with opportunities for education, skill development, and counseling during their incarceration to facilitate their reintegration into the mainstream and persuade them to lead a safe life as law-abiding citizens.

In conclusion, the upsurge in anti-social activities involving juveniles can be attributed to a combination of socioeconomic factors, lack of positive influences, and societal pressures. To effectively combat this issue, proactive measures such as early intervention programs and reformative punishment strategies are crucial.
