Nowadays we can see definite signs of surplus production in almost every industry sector, and this is leading to environmental damage. what are some possible solutions to this situation?

In contemporary times, overproduction has been rapidly increasing in every sector which  not only has an adverse effect on the ecosystem but also on the natural resources. It has raised alarm among environmentalists who suggest taking some steps to control this by mitigating this issue from the roots.

To begin with, many experts believe that excessive production can be reduced by enabling coordination between manufacturing and sales departments as they are the prominent source of this issue. They can resolve it by taking a few initiatives. For instance, some personnel associated with the production department will be asked to minimize the unreasonable production until onhold stock is not utilized and the sales department has to emphasise on selling the produced goods first and then look forward for further targets to produce more. Consequently, natural resources will be used appropriately and environmental damage will be dramatically controlled.

Another important way to control this is a consumerist attitude, people have a power which controls the market trends. If  they abstain from use and throw practice and  buy something new every now and then - and dump what has gone out of vogue,  the industry will be forced to curtail the excessive production as they cannot afford to bear losses by holding unnecessarily produced commodities. Beside this, governments can make a law by urgently imposing quotas on surplus production and also ensure that if any one fails to adhere, will be penalised severely, it will push the industrialist to take steps to restricting this wasteful practice.

In hindsight, I strongly opine that the issue of controlling the excessively produced goods can be handled effectively if organisations,  consumers and the state make joint efforts. Endeavors of such dimensions cannot be handled successfully unless all stakeholders become a party to these.

Young drivers are careless and overconfident, and too many are killed in accidents. To eliminate this problem, we could teach children the skills of safe driving while they are at school. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Young drivers are careless and overconfident, and too many are killed in accidents. To eliminate this problem, we could teach children the skills of safe driving while they are at school. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Nowadays, fatal road mishaps, involving young individuals, are witnessing a surge, so many opine that to eliminate this problem, schools must train youngsters about appropriate driving, but how far this proposal can be deemed acceptable, is a matter that needs a profound scrutiny

A school of thought backs this idea by citing the obligation of schooling: to foster and polish the overall personality of young individuals, and since using roads safely as motorists forms an integral part of the persona of lawful citizens, it is pertinent to inculcate this education in classrooms. Further, schools have an appropriate learning environment for better grooming as learners can effortlessly absorb the new skills with their peers, and also retain it enduringly, as it has been seen in several other areas of learning.

However,  many assert that the basic objective of the formal tuition is affording the strong foundation of academics, and this topic will only cause distraction and disruption: everyone will only want to learn this, instead of other more essential but complicated domains. Moreover, this will precipitate chaos by persuading young minds to  commit misdemeanors, as was observed in the Hisar road accident case in India, wherein the driver was just sixteen years old, who learned some fundamentals about road use while sitting behind the wheel, and he ended up trying dangerous stunts on a bridge to flaunt his abilities in front of his peers, resulting in his death by falling off the 100 ft bridge.

In hindsight, I strongly believe that driving should not be a part of the formal curriculum; it is something that develops with maturity, and can be learned from the certified institutions. Therefore, it would be better for the sake of society to keep this subject out of bounds for juveniles

Modern lifestyles mean that many parents have little time for their children. Many children do not get as much attention from their parents as children did in the past. This is having a negative impact on the children. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Modern lifestyles mean that many parents have little time for their children. Many children do not get as much attention from their parents as children did in the past. This is having a negative impact on the children. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Nowadays, it is undeniable that most of the time of the adults is being spent in their offices and their social circles, leaving their children unattended. They are the most vulnerable, being without care and this has a negative impact on their upbringing as they do not get enough care as required.

The young ones are not getting enough time from their parents as unlike in the past, impacting them adversely and leaving them unaware of the importance of their family traditions and culture. As the latter do not have time, they do not get enough chances of interaction with their cousins and relatives, depriving them of opportunities of familiarizing with relationships and family.

Moreover, another impact of this can be on their mental health. The negligence by mothers and fathers may result in a feeling of loneliness, thereby often causing depression. Also, youngsters may find it hard to cope with their studies as there will be no one to guide them and boost their confidence whenever required. Similarly, as they are alone, they spend time watching movies and playing video games which is not appropriate for their age because of the portrayal of mature content and violence which could influence their behavior.

However, many view this trend as favorable. They consider this helps in personal growth making youngsters independent and responsible. Children learn to make decisions based on their interaction with the outside world and not from second hand experience, or forced decisions of their parents, and also learn how to negotiate tasks and responsibilities independently.

Overall, I concur the outcomes of this phenomenon can be grave; hence, parents should take out enough time from their busy schedules to spend with their wards. They should keep a balance between their work and personal life.

The international community must take immediate action to ensure all countries reduce their usage of fossil fuels. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

The international community must take immediate action to ensure all countries reduce their usage of fossil fuels. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

A general perception is emerging among environmentally conscious people that the international organisation should take steps to curb the consumption of propellants like gasoline and diesel, universally. I partially disagree with this proposal and shall discuss in the following paragraphs.

To start with, a lobby feels that these naturally occurring minerals are soon going to exhaust due to greed and reckless milking, turning the future of upcoming generations bleak as they might not have the privilege to avail these materials. Moreover, their rampant use is causing a colossal spike in the release of carbon dioxide into the air, precipitating detrimental effects on the environment: promoting global warming, and human health by making them vulnerable to respiratory disorders, like  asthma, lung infection, and many more. In Japan, to corroborate, the incidence of these ailments has swelled, owing to surfeit use of fossil fuel-driven vehicles.

Having said that, many believe that this may be impossible, for there are regions where these act as a single source of energy. For example, in Siberia, due to immense cold throughout the year, everyday life hinges on petrol: generating electricity, transportation, and so forth, since other forms of fuel are not available. This pushes them to utilize the only medium accessible at hand. Similarly, through petroleum, many forms of by-products are made: jet fuel, vaseline, fertilizers, and diesel, opening doors to a wide variety of commodities and fulfilling the needs of society at large.

In conclusion, considering the aforementioned views, I believe that there should be a cap on the usage of fossil fuel, but repercussions of such an endeavor should be carefully weighed  before implementing it; many regions have this fuel as a single source to bolster their lives.

Nowadays many young people are drawn towards dangerous sports. What makes them so attractive? What measures should be taken to regulate such sports and minimise the risks?

Nowadays many young people are drawn towards dangerous sports. What makes them so attractive? What measures should be taken to regulate such sports and minimise the risks?

  • What measures should be taken to regulate such sports and minimise the risks?

  • What makes them so attractive?

Nowadays many young people are drawn towards dangerous sports.

Causes

  • The youth of today wants to explore something that has not been done: man has discovered the whole planet

  • It is human propensity to seek adventure: which can only happen if something unorthodox is done.

  • An  inclination to hog the limelight is pulling more and more into such activities

  • The recklessness and the intent to address the adrenaline rush is pushing many into such activities

What measures can mitigate the risks?

  • The state should ensure that such acts are performed under the watchful eyes of trained experts

  • Quality training gear should be mandated

  • Proper training should be imparted  to probable practitioners by qualified trainers

  • Proper safeguards should be adopted and deployed

  • Practitioners should be enlightened about the associated perils.

There is a rising inclination towards adventurous activities like skydiving, rock climbing, and so on, among the youth. This essay will elucidate the attributes that contribute to this tendency, and suggest precautions that should be taken to mitigate jeopardies.

There are several factors that drive this trend: the young generation has always remained curious to experience unprecedented thrills giving them a purpose in life. Therefore, they practice these sports that provide contentment and happiness as has been elicited by a survey conducted in Rishikesh, India, that nearly forty percent of young participants were drawn to these endeavors due to their intent to do something radical, not done by anyone in their preceding generation.

Also, many are influenced by celebrities through movies, advertisements, and so on, persuading them to participate in these undertakings. To exemplify, the renowned actor Hritik Roshan recently climbed to the highest peak in Siachen, and this motivated several young individuals from Himachal Pradesh to emulate to exhibit that they had a similar passion as their idol.

The perils associated with such sporting endeavors can be alleviated by espousing certain prudent steps: the state should conduct quality checks of the gears and the venues where these activities are performed: it will help to erect safeguards against the uncertainties. Additionally, proper lessons should be imparted to the staff, and  practical tests for them should be stipulated. Also, participants must be trained about taking precautions while performing these pursuits. Moreover, the undertaking and facts should be signed and acknowledged by those performing such dangerous acts.

To conclude, undeniably, young people will not abandon the idea of exploring new things, especially those challenging their safety. Thus, governments and concerned authorities should act wisely by adopting judicious policies to reduce the jeopardies connected with these sports.

Some people think that newspapers are the best way to learn about current events. However, others believe that they can learn news better through other media.

Some people think that newspapers are the best way to learn about current events. However, others believe that they can learn news better through other media.

Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Why Newspaper

  1. Authenticated

  2. Comprehensive news

  3. Printed words have the ability to be retained longer

Why other  media

  1. Up to date - minute by minute information

  2. Portability - better than carrying clumsy newspapers

  3. Graphical content - videos and photos - making it easier to grab news without paying attention to the task of reading

Many are still wedded to the idea of accessing newspapers to inform themselves,  but the other section leans in the favor of multiple digital ways to get updates. This essay shall analyze this matter and emanate its inclination towards the former view.

Newspapers have always been considered as the most reliable source of getting daily news. There is still a large part of society that believes that this medium is the most authentic and verified source by virtue of every information being provided is investigated profoundly and without bias since those presenting reports are qualified professionals and duly comply with principles of journalism without compromises, whereas social media and other digital apps are mostly focused on generating TRPs. For example many TV channels telecast news that deliver few productive messages but only generate their channel value.

Additionally, undeniably, the printed word has a greater  impact and when propensity to access it has been ingrained since childhood through schooling,  the majority, especially the older generation, is likely to stick to reading the paper-based material. For example, the young subscribers of the popular newspapers such as New York Times still prefer to buy hard copies; they find accessing these as a better way of gaining knowledge.

However, others think differently and feel that the digital way of learning about incidents is effortless as it provides real time updates and requires less time to gain information. For example, television and the internet fueled web portals and social media provide coverage of events as they are taking place.

In hindsight, both ways have their own significance: where one enjoys an enduring trust, the other tools such a modern technology-driven ones render speed to the process of affording information about occurrences around the world.

Some say that reading newspapers and watching TV news is a waste of time, because it has no direct connection with people’s lives. To what extent do you agree or disagree? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Some say that reading newspapers and watching TV news is a waste of time, because it has no direct connection with people’s lives. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Agree

  • Most media focuses on celebrities, movies, sports, which does not have a relevance

  • Some only present agenda that have limited significance for everyday life

Disagree

  • Announcing government policies,

  • Informing about economic trends

    • Price rise, costs, and benefits

  • business trends

  • Inform employment patterns

  • Happenings in other parts of the world that have a profound impact on business, employment  and well being

  • Enlightening about weather and calamities

  • Caution people about crime and social unrest

Although it is commonly perceived that engaging with newspapers and television for news is wasteful endeavour, I strongly detest it, for there is only one method that can help one stay up-to-date with current affairs, something critical in the modern world.

Those harbouring this belief profess that the contemporary media has taken up the role of acting as the publicity outlet for prosperous business houses and powerful political outfits. They only focus on televising and heralding news about conventions, meetings, and conferences, among others, which fails to provide any useful input to the majority.

Nevertheless, this notion would be of the great consequence if it were true: the events involving business deliberations and political discussions, propagated through television programs and newspapers are keenly/ eagerly/ enthusiastically followed by millions because this can inform them about the potential opportunities for employment and business being created by successful conclusion of such events. To corroborate, giant media publications and media companies extensively covered the convention between the UK government and businesses, in 2021, that marked an end to restrictive policies enacted during pandemic, resulting in employees returning to their offices and businesses opening from the very next day.

Similarly, this information channel has always played a pivotal role in bringing updates about pandemics, calamities, and other jeopardizing conditions, to caution their audiences about probable hazards facing them, in turn preparing them to embrace precautions. For instance, a warning about tsunami aired by BBC in Osaka, in May 2025, saved almost one million lives as residents of coastal areas evacuated quickly.

In hindsight, all forms of media are doing a great service to society by enlightening people about various developments and approaching perils, raising hopes and saving lives in the process, turning this allegation into irrelevant.

Introduction 1: Newspapers and television have become a primary source of informing the general populace about the happenings around the world, but some are critical about this, and suggest that such engagement amounts to squandering time, for this activity has little significance in routine life. However, I fail to concur with this notion in absolute terms since this is the only way to stay up-to-date about the surroundings that can profoundly impact people. Introduction 2: This is a common perception that engaging with newspapers and television for news amounts to squandering of invaluable time, for such engagement is irrelevant for daily life, but this notion can be challenged on several grounds. The following paragraphs shall critically analyse this matter, and share a plausible conclusion. Introduction 3:

As public safety is one of the highest importance, it is often necessary to test on the animals first new products on animals. It is better for a few animals to suffer than for human life to be placed at risk by untested products. To What extent do you agree or disagree?

As public safety is one of the highest importance, it is often necessary to test on the animals first new products on animals. It is better for a few animals to suffer than for human life to be placed at risk by untested products. To What extent do you agree or disagree?

Contemporary times have witnessed groundbreaking discoveries, primarily in medicine and other lifestyle products,  most of which have been first tried on animals. This fact has irked many animal right activities, who treat such a move with indignation, but there is a lobby that lends its support to this experimentation.

A sizable lobby opines that of products on animals is important because the physiology of certain mammals is similar to humans; therefore, it aids scientists to develop various drugs and treatments which are crucial in saving or safeguarding the lives of people from fatal diseases such as HIV, cancer, and deadly tumours; in turn, incumbent for improving the overall quality of life. Moreover, trying out new products on animals is imperative so that they can be checked for any side effects they could jeopardize human safety.

This can be exemplified by quoting the revelations of several researches that state that there is a conspicuous decline in the number of deaths among females due to introduction of animal experimentation in the field of cosmetics, which was earlier very high owing to high ammonia content present in it.

However, critics are up in arms against this practice. They profoundly feel that this is an injustice being meted out to the poor beings like rodents, guinea pigs and monkeys, to invent or innovate. Countless  animals which are subjected to painful procedures either perish during the process, or are condemned to lead a painful life, in captivity, suffering from deformities due clinical trials.

Overall, I opine that despite certain advantages attributed to carrying out the animal trials, it is very unethical and immoral and must be discouraged promptly. There is a need to adopt a humane attitude towards those sharing space with mankind on this planet.

Academic achievement at school or university is the only true measure of a person’s intelligence. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Academic achievement at school or university is the only true measure of a person’s intelligence. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Education plays an important role in personal development and success in life. However, I do not agree with this statement that the intelligence of a person should be judged on the basis of academic accomplishment.

Many outrightly reject this notion by quoting precedents of several  people being successful even without going to school, or dropping out midway. However, their innate skills and ability to take initiatives and  risks propelled them to triumphs, earning them fame and fortune, leaving the highly accomplished way behind. For instance,  Bill Gates and Elon Musk, to name a few. These individuals although not educated as per modern standards, they set an example in front of those highly qualified individuals. These very individuals employed the highly educated  in the establishments they are running as successful businesses.

The fact that the level intellect being independent of any educational feats is often observed in the modern technological realms where genius programmers are found developing applications without having any formal qualification. Facebook, one of the biggest social media platforms, has evidenced this by hiring more than forty percent of people who never went to school or college, by virtue of their prodigal abilities.

Moreover, it is well-known that a large number of students all over the world tend to cheat during their examinations to achieve higher grades and better appraisals than they are capable of. However, a genius may suffer from anxiety just before the examinations, resulting in poor academic performance, so it will be an injustice to assume him not to be intelligent just because of the particular situation.

In conclusion, I believe one cannot be judged on their academic exploits, and those harnessing their skill and capabilities efficiently, can earn success with the help of strong resolve and hard work.

Children playing team sports learn life skills. Do you agree or disagree?

Children playing team sports learn life skills. Do you agree or disagree?

As per a common perception, team sports train juveniles to embrace life skills like discipline, team work, and so forth, while others feel the opposite. However, the former view is more convincing, and I shall delve deeper into the following paragraphs.

To commence with, some behaviourists believe that indulging in team sports encourages children to foster acumen to function in a team, coordinate, team discipline and obedience by engaging in team sports. This can be extremely helpful in future since most of the professional realms heavily rely on collaboration,  rather  than individualistic approach. For instance, James Bradlock, member of UNICEF cites his example about grasping collaborative qualities through football that helped him adapt to modern working conditions, and to operate in sync with others and chase goals jointly, completing relief projects without impediments.

Moreover, a sense of empathy is also developed through this activity as tender minds learn to support each other and push them to enhance their performance. As Dr. Kanak Ambani,  an eminent human behaviorist,  team sports fosters empathetic nature towards their counterparts, thereby preparing them to use  these acumen to assist their colleagues and fellow workers, while chasing group goals.

Additionally, leadership quality is another essential skill inculcated by young minds as they learn to take initiatives in challenging circumstances and  lead from the front,  a skill that assists them to manage departments and  undertakings. As claimed by Siya Kumar, CEO of J.S pharmaceutical company, due to her indulgence in team sports from a younger age, she is bold, and has the capability to run a business.

Overall, indulging in sporting disciplines that entail team participation helps youngsters attain qualities such as empathy, discipline and coordination, among others. This can help them settle more successfully in life as adults.

Publishing detailed information about crimes in newspapers or on television can have dangerous consequences and should therefore be restricted. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Publishing detailed information about crimes in newspapers or on television can have dangerous consequences and should therefore be restricted. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

The great public discourse of contemporary times is aligned with a view whether reporting about antisocial endeavors that has detrimental effects on society, should be controlled, or not. I partially agree with the proposal and shall discuss in the following paragraphs.

To start with, a lobby strongly asserts that showcasing savagery via media can cause fear among individuals, especially youngsters. This is to say, when children witness blood, gore, and so on, they become frightened and fear that they might meet the same end; as a result, they avoid interacting with the outer world, turning timid, feeling threatened, and eventually, lead a life in desolation . To corroborate, a recent study conducted by a group of child behaviorists revealed that juveniles watching programs about unlawful undertakings during their childhood on television, grow up as adults who circumvent communicating with others, and some also feel unsafe within the confines of their own homes when they are alone.

Having said that, such broadcasts should not be curtailed since there could be evidence that might catch the attention of the viewers, or readers, and aid in resolving crimes. In other words, the television could show images of the perpetrators, who could be on the run, or at large, could be identified, and reported to the police. For example, in Japan, during the morning news, details of incidence of law breaking and culprits are transmitted over the television and social media, which aids in early identification of the criminals.

In conclusion, considering the aforementioned views,  I believe although it is virtuous to draw a line about what should be presented, a complete embargo should not be imposed: these help in  mitigating and preventing incidents of deviant nature

In many education systems, subjects such as maths and science are seen as more important than arts subjects such as drama and literature. What are the reasons for this? Is this a positive or a negative development?

In many education systems, subjects such as maths and science are seen as more important than arts subjects such as drama and literature. What are the reasons for this? Is this a positive or a negative development?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

The contemporary formal tuition prioritizes STEM subjects over literature and drama. This notion seems to stem from many factors, which will be discussed in the following paragraphs, and share whether this is a favorable or unfavorable evolution.

A lobby asserts that science is the need of the hour, as the world needs immediate solutions to perilous ailments jeopardising  life expectancy dramatically. Rendering science can bolster research in the most advanced medical methods to overcome this woe. Similarly, space explorations make maths imperative for the successful launching of space shuttles: it requires precise calculations and formulae. For example, a recent survey revealed that the National Space Institute looks for highly skilled candidates in maths since they rely on such traits for accomplishing their space missions.

However, this is a detrimental trend, as per several educationalists,  as science and maths fail to excite everyone, many are likely to feel demotivated and disenchanted from studies. Moreover, if everyone takes up science and maths, there will be a dearth of professionals like teachers, and so on. To corroborate, Japan has witnessed a significant drop in the numbers of educators since many schools are focused on science. As a result, there are less teachers to teach in the classrooms. Moreover, this is likely to impact the creation of innovation, for it is only the arts that can augment resourceful and afford a broader perspective to the young generation, which eventually uses it to ponder profoundly and discover solutions to challenges facing them

In conclusion, although demand for medical solutions and skilled mathematicians are the primary reasons for giving precedence to STEM, this presents a bleak future as disengagement from education and lack of resourcefulness is an imminent impact, turning it into a phenomenon laden with pitfalls.

Some people prefer to do the same type of work all their lives, while others enjoy changing the work they do. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Some people prefer to do the same type of work all their lives, while others enjoy changing the work they do. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

There has been an eternal debate about altering routines, or not: while some prefer to integrate modifications, others dread this. This essay will discuss both sides and share a plausible opinion.

To start with, a lobby asserts that indulging into a similar routine of work alleviates mistakes. This is to say, when one follows a similar pattern day in, day out, they tend to make fewer errors, and hence, make themselves confident.  Such habitual working encourages one to hone their specific skillset, fetching them adroitness in whatever they do, and turning them into seasoned individuals, whereas embracing changes  might expose them to failure and  incessant struggles. This pattern is generally witnessed among the aging workforce, for a majority feels that continuing with something they have been practising over the years can earn them finesse, turning them into specialists, instead of pushing them to slog to grab new skills and face setbacks.

Having said that, many feel that doing different work every day brings thrill and excitement that goes missing while pursuing mundane tasks in offices. Moreover, doing something differently is also considered to be a key factor in earning  success in the dynamic world, bringing them closer to betterment and helping them chart a course to desired attainments. One can ascend the ladder of growth by trying out jobs that fit their lifestyle, ambitions and career prospects. For example, in Japan, many keep on looking to change their professions to find where they would like to stand in life.

In conclusion, considering the aforementioned views, in my opinion, even  though both perspectives hold substance, while the older individuals prioritizing sticking to old routines, and  younger seek enhancements,  the latter view is more feasible for those seeking achievements.

Parents should be held legally responsible for their children’s acts. What is your opinion? Support it with examples from your experience.

Parents should be held legally responsible for their children’s acts. What is your opinion? Support it with examples from your experience.

The debate about whether people should face penalties for the unsocial conduct of their wards, is quite heated. I believe this approach is unfair and unrealistic. Although families are central in shaping the character of youngsters, they cannot be expected to exercise control over their conduct, for the latter must bear the consequences of their own actions.

As young people mature, their behaviour is influenced by numerous external forces, including friends, social media, and the school environment. Even at homes despite being rendered a strong guidance and support, young ones can still make harmful or illegal choices. For instance, if they choose to cheat, lie, or engage in scuffles, it reflects more on their own judgment than on their upbringing. Thus, it is not right to hold fathers and mothers liable for actions they did not directly cause.

Moreover,  putting legal pressure for such matters could prove to be counterproductive. Many already struggle with financial, or emotional, stress while trying to raise their young ones properly, and holding lawfully obligated for every mistake the latter commit can discourage, rather than supporting them, exacerbating complications, which could cause chaos for already distraught families.

Having said that, some do support this move, despite this view lacking in substance, and profess such a policy will precipitate a quick impact, for the fear of reprimand, fines  and levies would motivate mothers and fathers to act, and educate their offspring about righteous ways, and embracing socially acceptable behavior.

To conclude, although families must be held accountable for the well being of their little ones, they should not be blamed for every wrong decision their child makes. Young minds need to take the onus and understand the consequences of their actions, rather than depending on their parents to take the call.

In many countries the consumption of fast food has increased dramatically in recent years. What has caused this increase? What effect might it have on individuals and society?

In many countries the consumption of fast food has increased dramatically in recent years. What has caused this increase? What effect might it have on individuals and society?

Reasons

  • Hectic schedules leave little time for cooking at home

  • Changing family settings - from joint to nuclear

  • Traveling and tourism is also fueling this

  • This has become a mark of modern lifestyle and sophistication

  • Aggressive marketing and advertisements

    • Attractive content

    • Use of celebrities / influential

  • More disposable income

  • The ingredients of such edible goods are addictive which act as superstimuli

Impact

Ramification/ drawbacks/ bad impact/repercussion

Individuals

  • Direct health is impacted

    • Mental well being is impacted due to ingredients

    • Nutritional deficit

  • Can pose financial constraints

    • Everyday obsession is making people spend mindlessly

 Society

  • Affecting the public health, and thereby cumulative productivity

  • Posing a pressure on public health spendings

  • Causing environmental harm; promoting industrial farming and exploitation resources and animals

  • Causing traditional culinary skills to disappear .

The surge in obsession with ultra-processed foods has become a pressing concern, making it imperative to explore reasons fueling this phenomenon, and also its impact at individual and social level.

The most prominent source of this fast increment inclination for convenience meals is the modern ways of life that comprises hectic professional schedules and engrossing social commitments. These leave people with little time to cook at home or visit eateries, and wait for orders to arrive, persuading them to opt for quick alternatives such as burgers, pizza, pasta, and so forth. To exemplify, as per a report by The Urban Food Magazine, New York, nearly eighty percent of urbanites in western hemisphere have started relying on this nourishment owing to their engagement in jobs and social circles, and kitchens have been long forgotten.

Similarly, the manufacturers of these products blitz/ surround/ bombard consumers with the tempting graphic content of junk food in ads that feature celebrities and influencers, on every possible medium. To corroborate, fried chicken, tacos, and hotdogs, to name a few, are highly publicized delicacies of KFC, which register tremendous annual sales.

However, this penchant is costing people their mental and physical wellbeing; a growing number are becoming vulnerable to obesity, type-2 diabetes, cardiac complications and depression, among others, causing deterioration in quality of life. Additionally, the growing ratio of unhealthy population- a victim of this faulty food habit- is taking a toll on economic productivity, and public spending on healthcare and health infrastructure.

In hindsight, contemporary society is pushed into embracing quick-service food because of the preoccupation with employment and social occasions, and trebled by attractive advertising, but this can seriously jeopardize public health and national budgets. It is, thus, essential to discourage over indulgence with these meals for public good.
