In modern times, individuals believe that socializing with colleagues after working hours is a good idea, whereas some believe that it is important to keep their work life and social life totally separated. I will analyze both the views and share my plausible opinion.
To begin with, having a strong relationship at work can help develop a sense of coordination and make group discussion easier by helping one familiarize with colleagues, which can help create cooperation with co-workers, and make the work more interesting. Moreover, nowadays, people are spending more time in the office because of the long working hours, so socializing will make them work more comfortably, and in a friendly environment. In addition to these physical advantages, the confidence level of individuals develops, if they will balance both personal and professional life.
However, others are against this practice, and claim that this propensity can cause complications on the professional front as people tend to misuse intimate information by spreading rumors about coworkers, creating problems for the affected people both at professional and personal levels. Moreover, this could lead to groupism and spoil the work environment, hamper productivity. For instance, recently a survey was organised in the information technology sector and it has observed that most of the gossip leaked out because of over sharing at work places and this has turned out to be worse. Moreover, people take advantage of the innocence and use those topics against the employees.
In hindsight, dispute aside, after looking at the disadvantages people take because of being overly friendly the individuals should spend their free time with families and get back to work with free minds and fresh thoughts.
