Corpulence among juveniles is a pressing concern in the contemporary world, and is caused by a slew of reasons: unsound lifestyles choices. However, it is affecting youngsters at mental and physical level, making it imperative to discover prudent remedies to help eradicate this predicament.

The primary driver of this complication is faulty food habits, often promoted by parents who themselves indulge in consuming gluten and calorie-rich junk food and resorting to irregular consumption of food. Additionally, a sedentary lifestyle, a ubiquitous feature of the family environment, is adding insult to injury because youngsters are rarely seen exerting themselves physically, making them accumulate calories, and hence fat, turning them obese.

This physical condition is making little ones vulnerable to poor physiological and mental health. While excessive weight at young age impedes efficient metabolic function, leading to complications like diabetes and cardiac issues, it also impacts their self-esteem and confidence, by virtue of them becoming a butt of jokes among their peers. Several studies conducted on such young individuals highlight an alarming fact that obesity makes young minds slow learners and isolated, besides predisposing them to ailments generally affecting adults.

Surmounting this challenge is possible provided mothers and fathers take the onus of this critical task: they should abandon unhealthy food, and ensure that they share at least one meal with their wards. This will encourage the latter to switch to healthy meals. Moreover, if grown-ups devote some time to exercise and outdoor sports, their progeny will follow their footsteps, and develop a robust health that sans corpulence.

In hindsight, consumption of fatty food coupled with lack of physical activity is turning children obese, and jeopardizing their wellness. Therefore, families must don the mantle by embracing prudent practices: including healthy food and exercise their daily regimes.
