It is believed that in most of the organizations older people should don the mantle, while others suggest that younger people should also give this opportunity.

The younger generation is techsavvy, and thus, they can use modern tools to analyze different problems, and find ways to surmount umpteen challenges, make decisions and render well-informed guidance. Lately, it has become a trend in industry to recruit young talent as they are more flexible towards this approach, surpassing primitive ways of dealing with problems and providing prudent remedies to help carry out managerial tasks, saving manpower and time. To corroborate, IBM admitted preferring young talent for the leading positions since they were adroit in handling sophisticated  tools like SAP and ERP to devise strategic policies, and plans to utilize resources and available manpower to run the operation and attain the organizational objectives

On top of that, they provide participative leadership because of which their subordinates are persuaded to contribute to every endeavor led by these individuals. In addition to above, they are more approachable, making them capable of analysing problems facing personnel efficiently, and then providing solutions to overcome impediments, helping augment productivity

However, seniors cannot be discounted from managerial roles; they have been through the thick and thin, and thus, have deeper insights and experience to tackle a variety of situations. For example, in Japan, most of the CEOs are above fifty five; they have the ability to foresee the trends, capitalize on situations by preparing pre-emptive plans, giving them an edge over their young counterparts.

In hindsight, both enjoy a great relevance in these roles in their own virtue: young generations can easily channelize their energy to cope with problems using technology, the older generation can deal with more crucial issues authoritatively.
