The growth of online shopping will one day lead to all shops in towns and cities closing. Do you agree or disagree?

Of late,  there has been a debate raging on the matter that whether the present fashion of online buying will supersede shops, which might close due to masses opting for ecommerce portals. the rationale  behind both views is discussed  below

The fast proliferating trend is inclined towards the fact that  shopping in person  will be history and the new normal will be buying online since they are one stop shops and afford  the availability of  almost everything, and the way things are evolving, it seems that people will be more profoundly engaged in their work, leaving them with little time for undertaking shopping trips. Thus, they will favor unrestricted access, browsing as per convenience that does not have timeline  boundaries, evading the  challenges like traffic  and pollution, and saving on the  cost of travelling. Furthermore, with the rising number of eportals that will afford privileges like comparison with millions of  available  products  without human intervention will be too tempting to overlook, pushing shoppers to abandon their trips to markets.

However, there is sizable lobby that holds reservations  against this notion, they perceive that even in face of stiff competition the shops will endure and never succumb to this onslaught of websites offering a plethora of merchandise, as there will be still many goods that can purchased after having a good look and feel of it such as precious jewellery, or other expensive material, and irrespective of lucrative offers, many will still resort to  visiting shops.

Besides this, going to shopping centers will continue to gratify several since for them such an endeavor will be an exciting opportunity to escape mundane. Another imminent factor adding to its benefits are that shops provide personal touch to services and credit which is impossible in case of online purchasing, thereby taking an important space in society, and ensuring their survival.

Overall, even though it is irrefutable that there are numerous  benefits of internet-based shopping which cannot be ignored, I do not subscribe that the benefits of the shops will let them fade away: their charm shall endure and continue to entice many.
