As countries develop and people’s standard of living improves, environmental damage naturally increases and cannot be completely avoided. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

In the contemporary era, many are inclined towards better living standards, which has myriad implications on nature and the global environment. However, I fail to subscribe to this notion because advanced technology and awareness can play a significant role in protecting the earth.

To commence with, improvement in living standards has incremented needs in all aspects, such as food production, urban infrastructural development, and setting up industries and projects to meet all demands. This has increased the demand of rural and urban land to accommodate housings, factories, ports, food industries, and so forth, thereby resulting in deforestation, releasing carbon, creating pollution not only in air, but water, and land, affecting the overall environment adversely. For instance, many developing cities like Delhi, are facing humongous air pollution due to a surge in the number of vehicles on roads and increased demand for industrialisation.

However, these environmental damages can be controlled by various state-of-the-art methods and practices, government intervention plays a crucial role here, strict regulations towards recycling and reuse holds great promises for safeguarding the environment from reckless abuse of natural resources. This will allow enhancements in the quality of life without impacting the environment. Additionally, usage of solar and wind power, sustainable building infrastructures and materials will reduce the demand of natural resources, as well as render all necessary comforts and commodities necessary for human consumption. For example, governments of Asian countries are promoting solar power for their residential buildings to alleviate the production of electricity and encouraging environmental awareness.

To conclude, better living standards can be achieved by awareness among the people and policy makers, sustainable concepts, stricter guidelines for manufacturing industries for pollution mitigation, these introductions methods will definitely control the damage to the environment.
