Always telling the truth is the most important consideration in any relationship between people, to what extent do you agree and disagree?
Truthfulness is generally considered critical for sustaining associations and acquaintances, but some outrightly debunk it. I will analyse this matter critically and share my verdict in upcoming paragraphs.
Undoubtedly, honesty helps build transparency, trust, and strengthens bonds, in every walk of life, especially in business: one prefers dealing with those valuing sticking to tenets of integrity, clarity in business dealings such as availability of material and products, delivery deadlines, quality expectations, and so forth. For example, Ratan Tata, a globally-renowned businessman, was famous for his honest approach, achieved epitome of success quickly, owing to the rules he followed in running his business, ranking him at the top in Automotive industry, as per the Forbes list of 2024.
Nevertheless, those skeptical about the much touted righteous attitude assert that telling a truth can sometimes invite trouble, if it is not required to be revealed at a specific time. For example, when someone is ill, they become a little sensitive. In such scenarios, it is pertinent to obfuscate details or facts that might contribute to exacerbating illness and negative emotions, and making those ailing vulnerable to serious medical conditions such as heart attack, or in some cases even death. Apart from that, sometimes for harmonious relationships, it is suggested that one should obscure certain information, or handle the situation tactfully; spitting true facts can strain relations, often resulting in dire consequences. To corroborate, most legal separations between married couples happen due to both spouses clinging on to this trait, and forgetting that sometimes hiding is better than revealing for marital bliss.
To sum up, although both aspects have their own relevance, I strongly favor a balanced approach: upholding conformity and sometimes concealing facts, so that one can strive towards making bonding stronger, allowing enriching relations.
