Problem

  • Burden for the society: medical expenses

  • Government will pay pension

A fierce debate has ensued regarding the rapid increment in the population of those in their twilight years. Some posit that it is beneficial for the society, whereas some dissent to this view. I would analyze this matter profoundly, and deliver a plausible verdict in the forthcoming paragraphs.

To embark on the discussion, the increasing populace of older individuals will prove to be a blessing, they will assist mothers and fathers in the better upbringing of their wards; grandparents can impart extensive knowledge regarding traditional beliefs, and essential traits: honesty, kindness, respect, problem solving and many more through their life experiences, that might not be possible in the absence of these individuals because the parents are occupied with their professional obligations and are unable to invest tremendous time in their upbringing, consequently, allowing them to absorb these paramount skills aiding in making them rational citizens.

On the flip side, the skeptics assert that those in their golden years precipitates umpteen challenges for the nation, even though the older populace is imbibed with colossal seasonings, motley these individuals suffer from diverse medical issues: type2 diabetes, and high or low blood pressure, among others, one has to pay through their nose for meeting their medical expenses and establishing retirement homes for rendering appropriate care, resulting in burdening the government. To corroborate, a survey carried out by Miss Ceilia proves that in India, the lawmakers are allocating 80% of funds in the development of several life-care homes, depriving them from investing in other critical issues: poverty for the betterment of society.

In hindsight, although both the opinions hold true in their own virtue, the elderly individuals adversely affect the development of the country, requiring umpteen medical facilities and the construction of retirement homes.
