Many people argue that restaurants should be required to disclose the nutritional information of the dishes they serve.  Do the advantages of this outweigh the disadvantages? 

Food lovers, nowadays, demand for the nutritional catalogue of the delicacies being served in restaurants. This aspect has both the benefits and drawbacks associated with it, but whether the former exceed the latter is a matter worthy of critical analysis.  

To begin with, displaying the nutritional content on the food servings will help all categories decide on the correct proportions needed from a wide variety of delicacies. The belief that the consumption of non-homemade food by pregnant women and children introduces them to serious health issues will be eliminated, by embracing this concept. Furthermore, this will enable establishments to present themselves as caring for their clientele, augmenting their business. Additionally, many food-oriented research will be conducted to provide correct proportionate weights and its nutrients; and consumers rights will be empowered to raise questions when the nutrients are not matched with quantity and price for the food.  

In contrast, such a proposal, if implemented, will stretch waiting times for serving food to customers waiting at the table, increasing their eagerness towards their order. This will also mandate hotels to recruit additional human resources with qualification and experience in various fields like, nutrition and chemical composition of food. This expenditure will be included in food bills and force consumers to pay indirectly. Moreover, such a policy can only be accomplished only by the premium hotels as other budget hotels cannot afford high investment to support this system. Such imbalance will cause economic disruption as the developing countries mostly depend on the income of mid-range hotels.

To conclude, although this analysis discovered several drawbacks of this proposal, I strongly agree with the viewpoint that pros exceed shortfalls. The suspected shortcomings can be surmounted by adopting prudent policies.
