Drawbacks 

Being impacted by friends and acquaintances in almost all walks of life is a ubiquitous phenomenon among youngsters, but does it carry more demerits than merits as proposed is something that intrigues greatly; barring a few sporadic instances most have reported drawing inspiration from their peers.     

It is generally feared that following the precedents of those around can have severe ramifications  on young mindsets, for they can go astray, and pick up unacceptable habits. A study attempting to discover how teenagers take to smoking, revealed that about thirty  percent admitted that they were persuaded by their classmates or friends, who themselves smoked. Moreover some also tend to become extravagant after observing the lavish lifestyle of their counterparts since they find such play of living quite luring.

Nevertheless, despite the concerns being highlighted about the unwarranted outcome of emulating other carry some substances, incidence of such specimens is infrequent and sporadic. As a matter of fact, umpteen success stories have emerged out of anecdotes  narrated by accomplished individuals from various spheres of life. Successful businessmen, scientists and even sports professionals credit their attainments to the effect of coaxing their classmates and their friends who pushed each other to go an extra mile and excel.

Likewise, using the footstep as benchmarks help not only the correct path, in terms of studying their professions but also find a medium to chase those goals successively. For example, if one in the friend circle becomes a doctor or an engineer, others in that group are likely to pursue similar professions, and use resources utilized by peers.

In hindsight, undeniably, there are  some detrimental repercussions of peer effects, these are extremely negligible, whereas the rewards of this propensity are numerous and effortlessly exceed the former: academic and professional success of many bolsters these claims.
