Nowadays many people are trying to earn more and more to get rich. What are the advantages and disadvantages of being rich?

Since time unknown, people have been chasing the dream of becoming affluent and getting well established in the society. Nevertheless, one must weigh the benefits and pitfalls of such a craving. Both the perspectives will be mentioned hereafter.

To begin with, the wealthy can afford a luxurious life for themselves and fulfill the wishes of their loved ones. Also, they can purchase anything without giving it a second thought. Similarly, one can plan their future and opt for early retirement because of enough wealth they have amassed/generated. Moreover, they can handle any emergency conditions like accidents and diseases by virtue of having an ample amount of funds. Adding to this, they enjoy the support of lawmakers and hold a powerful position among the other elite of society.

However, some commentators believe that deep pockets are associated with humongous stress levels that affect wellbeing. Beside this, there is always the fear of being trapped by the tax department which adds to unnecessary worries. Additionally, they are more prone to crimes like robberies, kidnapping and extortion because of their elite status. Furthermore, they become more arrogant and do not respect their peers and other society members; consequently, losing their respect. Above all, one quality that is common among all the affluent is greed generated with time that endures lifelong as the rich are pushed to work to sustain their prosperous status, making them obsessed with earning more to stay at the pinnacle.

Overall, prosperity has both the upsides and downsides; where one holds the power to buy anything and extend family members the facilities like international trips, higher education and better amenities, they are susceptible to unwarranted stress. Thus, it is necessary to be prudent to handle both the pros and cons of financial affluence.
