People who decide on a career early in their lives and keep to it are more likely to have a satisfying working life than those who change jobs frequently. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

In contemporary times, many start working in their chosen occupation early on, and continue working in the same, for they feel this can bring rich dividends than those switching jobs frequently. The following paragraphs will analyze this notion and reach a plausible conclusion.

To start with, a school of thought believes those choosing their occupation in the initial stages of their working  are more likely to develop expertise in the related areas, and hold a better sense of stability. Adding on, they also have the tendency to build long term rapport in the organization; they are recognised by their colleagues and management. To exemplify, in a recent study conducted by the management department of The Times of Canada, those joining trades, such as  finance and accounts, as quite young and continuing with it life long, foster  specialization that turns them into experts in the related  realm.

However, there are others who believe in hopping employment and even professions since it helps them upgrade their skill set overall, and make their resume versatile. This can help them enrich their expertise in diverse domains, build industry networks, and earn a chance for rapid progression to higher posts. For instance, in a recent interview conducted by The Business Times, The CEO of American Express mentioned that he worked for different departments such as marketing, finance and sales before achieving this position. Likewise, this can fetch economic benefits: one can get better appraisals in terms of overall remuneration, like salaries,  bonuses, and so on.

To conclude, even though embracing an occupation while one is young and continuing working in it can afford a stable and satisfying experience, I feel that, in many cases, job hopping can be a wise decision.
