Why follow culture

  • To stay connected to their roots

  • They will appreciate various aspect of the ways of life endemic to their community

  • They are the flag bearers, who will perpetuate their beliefs

Why liberty

  • They should be able to adapt according to their surroundings

  • Constant evolution is a human propensity

Although  the debate about coaxing the young generation to observe their native ways of life, or extending them liberty to make their own choice, has endured since time unknown, it has gained more traction in contemporary times due to globalization, making it imperative to critically analyse this matter.

Conservatives  are  quite akin/profoundly wedded idea that young individuals should closely adhere to the customs that have been followed since eons by their ancestors and even their immediate predecessors; this will connect them with their roots,  and also understand/comprehend the rationale behind those practices, in the form of food, clothing, and so on. For instance, the attire donned/sported by natives of countries like India is made up of cottons and is loose, to allow one to survive comfortably in hot and arid and sometimes humid weather. Following this pattern can help the next generation to stay away from unhealthy habits and also material. The key takeaway of this tendency is that the traditions will be perpetuated automatically without any special intervention.

Nevertheless, the modern school of thought favours affording autonomy to the upcoming generation to use their prerogative to decide their future course of action: to stick to their indigenous beliefs, or embrace fresh aspirations. Youngsters today are exposed to the fast transforming global paradigm, and thus, must adapt to the evolving system, but if they are forced to obey their traditions strictly, they might never be able to compete with the dynamic world. Letting them decide on their own will help them absorb knowledge of prudent practices and shun unacceptable rituals and customs.

In hindsight, I opine that the youth should adopt a balanced approach, wherein they should follow some of their traditions but also explore the developing perceptions around them and integrate the most suitable ones.

Introduction 1:

The great public discourse of contemporary time is aligned with the issue whether the young generation should be made to observe their native ways of life, or should they be extended liberty to make their own choice.

The following paragraphs shall delve deeper into this matter, and share a plausible verdict/conclusion.

Introduction 2:

Some profess that the younger generation should observe their native ways of life, while others propose that it should be extended liberty to make their own choice. I feel that even though it is important for them to stay connected to their routes, they should be leveraged some freedom too.

Introduction 3:

Some people think that cultural traditions may be destroyed when they are used as money-making attractions aimed at tourists. Others believe it is the only way to save these traditions. Discuss on both sides and give your opinion.
