Some people say that now we can see films on our phones or tablets there is no need to go to the cinema. Other say that to be fully enjoyed, films need to be seen in a cinema. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Technology-driven miniaturization has made entertainment, especially watching movies, portable, and many are drawn to it; can it really dent the reputation of movie theaters, is a million dollar question. However, I doubt that this can happen; the latter offers unique experiences that cannot be replicated on small screens.

Apprehensions  about cinema halls losing favor are gaining impetus from the steeply soaring numbers being tempted by the unprecedented convenience and economy offered by portable modes of engaging with films. One does not need to adhere to the schedule of shows, wait for a formal release, or travel to designated venues, but they can instead explore content complementing their choice - regardless of their location, even while traveling - and play and replay the scenes they find fascinating. Moreover,  hand-held devices allow big savings in terms of money, otherwise spent on procuring expensive show-tickets. These factors make it almost certain, as per some, that these conventional mediums, once frequented by huge crowds,  may become history.

However, despite the doomsday predictions about cinema halls vanishing, these are likely to endure and  retain their charm:  they have quickly adapted themselves to counter the impact of technology, and started integrating features - like surround sound, and 3-D and 4-D effects, among others,  to afford unmatched experience - and keeping their clients enticed. Similarly, visiting cinema halls is a social ritual for many, a means of affording a chance to escape the mundane, socialize, and view  motion pictures in an environment that sans distractions.

In hindsight, undeniably, although the digital footprint in entertainment, by affording unprecedented flexibility, is bound to expand, it hardly threatens movie halls, for the latter have their own distinct allure: unparalleled watching experience, and pleasure, and these both means will coexist, rather than compete with each other.
