The leaders of most organizations tend to be older people. However, some argue that younger people make better bosses.

The leaders of most organizations tend to be older people. However, some argue that younger people make better bosses.

To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Do younger people make better boses?

Yes

  • They are better equipped with the knowledge of their surroundings, by virtue of being educated in an environment that is influenced by modern concepts

  • They are energetic and can set precedents easily for their subordinates  and sometimes are not authoritative

  • They are tech savvy and can use modern technology to make decisions

NO

  • Leadership qualities, like creating strategies and alternatives plans,  only are augmented with seasoning: those who have been through the thick and thin can only plan effectively and lead their team

  • Their attitude sans Experience that builds temperament and an attitude that teaches to manage resources well - every worker

  • Exposure also provides with a pragmatic vision, allowing near accurate predictions, which they lack

  • Are not unbiased

The modern school of thought believes that individuals in their younger years are better suited to occupy leadership positions than their older counterparts. In my opinion, this perception can be deemed as appropriate in certain cases.

Those  leaning in the favor of this arrangement found their argument on the fact that young bosses are energetic, and participate in every organizational endeavor from the front rather than simply passing orders from their cubicles. This aspect helps keep the workforce motivated as they feel that their seniors are sharing the burden instead of simply shifting it to the juniors, helping derive optimum outputs. There are abundant specimens(examples) of such setups, especially in construction, shipping and marketing wherein managers selected must be below a certain age, so that they can play a participative role and persuade their subordinates to emulate(copy).

On top of that, the modern generation is quite tech savvy and capable of using state-of-the-art concepts and tools to assess the situation, discover and implement solutions, and evaluate the performance of every component and resource under their control, effectively, fetching them the ability to manage operations more efficiently and decisively.

Nevertheless, even though the former claims are valid, taking ownership is a highly complicated task that can only be achieved by those having seasoning, pragmatic vision, and patience by their side, something that the youth lack. This is the only reason why commanding positions in military, expensive research and development undertakings, and gigantic corporations, have people in their middle ages since they have the right temperament to guide the whole organization.

In hindsight, managerial positions in contemporary times require energy, knowledge of technology together with the right approach. The first two factors need youthful exuberance while the third can only be handled effectively by the experienced.
