In recent years, there has been a growing interest in the relationship between equality and personal achievements. Some people believe that individuals can achieve more in egalitarian societies. Others believe that high level of personal achievements is possible only if individuals are free to succeed or fail, according to their individual merits. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Ielts Essay Achievements in various social settings

There is a great debate nowadays over whether the attainments of people are better in social settings that promote equality, or in a set-up where the people are exposed to the risk of set-backs, however, personally feel that people who are capable, can excel in both kinds of social arrangements.

It is a general belief that people who are exposed to the likelihood of failing, excel in any task they undertake.  Such people, when standing face to face with a debacle, tend to be creative, and use every possible method to overcome challenges. This helps bring out the best out of individuals who relentlessly pursue success and infuse innovation; thereby setting benchmarks and becoming role models for the rest of the society. History has been a witness that people, like Abraham Lincoln who took initiative on their own and without any support of any kind succeeded in bringing around revolutions.

It is generally believed that people tend to attain better in a social setting that promotes equality among classes. Such an arrangement guarantees appropriate support to all citizens, regardless of their socioeconomic backgrounds. The assistance rendered by the state in form of opportunities, funding and logistics helps ease up the worries of the people and afford them time to focus on critical areas of work and field of interest. When there are opportunities galore for everyone and free of any discrimination, people have the freedom and the time to determine their strength areas and natural inclination, where they can focus without inhibitions. This makes them excel in their pursuits.

To conclude, after assessing both the points of views, it can be clearly said that achievements are achievements and cannot be compared, and people can excel in both kinds of social settings.

When children start school teachers have a bigger influence on their academic and social developmen
Ielts Essay Parents Children  and Teachers

When kids step out of their homes and join schooling, they start interacting with the outer world that helps foster vivid spheres of their personalities, in diverse realms – including academic and social. But, is this development has more bearing of teachers or parents is often profoundly debated.

Teachers play a role of social coaches, as many may say, and hence, they have a greater role in developing outer social persona or young learners: the teachers act a bridge between the kids and others and coach them about how to communicate with the external world. It is said that when children leave the secure environment of their homes for the very first time, they are insecure and unsure. The teachers provide a reassuring support by tutoring how to interact with peers, seniors and faculty; thereby preparing students for meaningful social interaction.

Moreover, tutors don the mantle of mentorship to satisfy the curiosity and the enlighten the young inquisitive minds by opening the doors to the knowledge. The first stories alphabets, and the tables taught with the help of rhymes overwhelm the young ones and leaves a permanent mark on their psyche. They are bedazzled by such surprising revelations: something they might not have expected back home where they got a familiar environment.

However, impact of a father and mother on the social and academic attitude and aptitude of their offspring is nearly unchallenged. Kids tend to follow precedents and footsteps of their moms and dads: they blindly believe in whatever their parents tell them since they have an unswerving faith in the words and acts of their parents.

To conclude, after discussing both the views, I do not agree with the notion of teachers influencing children more than parents, instead I feel that both have a substantial impact of personalities of young ones.

Ielts Essays Ideas from Workers
Getting proposals from workers seems to be becoming a vogue in the corporate culture; many cite several benefits of this method fostering innovation within an organization thought there are others who treat this technique with indignation.

Seeking suggestions from employees and workers can be highly beneficial in all areas of business: 'Creativity knows no bounds': an establishment that allows its workers to openly share their ideas with each other and higher rungs, always fares better, as it is able to wring out exceptionally outstanding advice – to combat problems; and attain better outcomes – from their internal resources. Workers do not only have an experience of ground realities but are also well-informed about the future prospects and areas that can be improved.

Similarly, commercial and non-commercial concerns letting their workers – at every level – share their imaginative views, can reap rich benefits in form of motivated workforce and their exceptional and outstanding performance. When a company invites suggestions from employees, regardless of their position in the organization, it makes them feel belonged to, hence stimulating the employees to give their best to their work.

However, the practice of sourcing ideas from the workforce is not bereft of dark shades, as many detractors opine. Allowing workers to suggest can often lead to chaos, in terms time taken for sourcing and implementing advice. Quite often, as it has been observed, management get inundated with blitz of diverse suggestions which can take long to filter and choose the best and most practical idea; thereby delaying strategically important decisions.

Therefore, despite employees advising surely being a good practice, it may not be as useful, in all realms of business, as one may desire: henceforth extreme caution should be exercised while choosing where to let workforce shell out an idea or two.

Some say that music is as important as other subjects in schools
Ielts Essay Music And Education
Music has always been lauded for carrying therapeutic value. This has prompted some to suggest that this should be accorded an equal importance with other subjects in schooling, especially during the preschool years though there are others who dissent over this issue. I, however, completely concur with the proposal and feel music can be of a great help to the young learners.

Studying Music at schools along with other subjects offers sumptuous benefits: practicing this subject does not only  help students de-stress but also let them foster unswerving focus. Music acts as a welcome break from the stressful academic pursuits, and lets pupils relax and rejuvenate, a primary reason that keeps students engaged and makes attending school an attractive activity. Moreover, when young learners play music, they get better at detecting meaningful sounds: thus helping them foster higher than average auditory attention, thereby enhancing ability to concentrate better.

Besides this, music is believed to be a pivotal element in stimulating creativity. If taught right from a young age, music helps children to be more imaginative as they learn to identify different notes of music. This broadens their understanding and helps them think innovatively. Music is believed to be a good medium to light up various areas of brain that equips students with higher than average intellect.

However, this idea does not go down well with everybody, since many consider this subject to be an unnecessary burden and distraction. Young learners tend to over-indulge in learning about music, and ignore other more important learning which in long learn can have an adverse impact on the academic outcomes.

To conclude, after closely assessing the viewpoints of both schools of thoughts, I find that music is surely an innovative way of stimulating learning among pupils.

Most countries develop their economies to improve living standards
Ielts Essay on Development and Social Values

Pursuit of prosperity has raised an alarm among the conservatives for they fear that this is leading to disappearance of important social values, however, the progressive lobby tends to overlook these fears and considers the benefits of this phenomenon more important than preserving the social values.

To start with, when economies achieve prosperity, they are able to afford a good quality of life to the inhabitants of the countries. This leads to an overall well-being, both in terms of physical and psychological: people, aided and supported by every imaginable facility, are able to lead a happy life. This as a result also inclines them to spirituality, thereby raising their awareness towards social conduct.

To add to that, unless economic prosperity is achieved, no country can ensure continuation of social structures: people have to shift out, either to other parts of the country, or to other parts of the world, in order to earn a livelihood, where they naturally are disconnected from their social set-ups, and thus their values. But, if an economy is affluent, it does not require inhabitants to move away and part with their social circles, thereby keeping them in touch with their age-old beliefs.

However, the fears of the seeking affluence seem to be deep-rooted, as when the families are chasing prosperity, they tend to indulge in professional pursuits which forces them to devote more and more time to  their profession: thus making them live in social isolation. The hardest hit are the kids who never get a chance to know their cousins and relatives, making them oblivious of socialization.

Thus, after assessing all the associated merits and demerits, I find this trend to be laden with more benefits, hence development enjoys an upper hand over the concerns of social values.

Many people think regions affect successful persons
Ielts Essay - Success and Regions
In the age of contradictions and controversies, many are discussing even the affect of a region and surroundings on the success of an individual. Some are quite positive about impact of regional backgrounds on success: others, however, ridicule this theory.

Regions and surroundings do enjoy an overwhelming effect on the triumphs and failures of people: the supportive policies of societies and governments radiate confidence and inspire inhabitants to apply themselves whole-heartedly to realms of their natural inclination and churn out successful undertakings – in all domains ranging from sports and arts to science and technology. This fact can be exemplified by the success garnered by inventors and businessmen in Europe and the USA, due to the support rendered by the state – people in these cases simply excelled in their fields as they had freedom to try anything legal.

Moreover, it has been experienced that the regions that enjoy  peaceful social atmosphere tend to generate talents and skills that bring around success: the focus of the society as a whole in this case in completely on progress rather than settling matters of little consequence and squabbles. For instance a war-torn society or the one affected by social discord will never be able to give their citizens a chance to think beyond those narrower issues.

However, many feel it is the precedents set up by certain people act as an inspiration for many to go for success. An individual, with his resounding success, establishes benchmarks for others to follow and prove their capabilities and intelligence. This slowly, as is said, permeates into the psyche of the dwellers, and thus becomes a part of culture perpetuated by the generations.

Hence, I personally feel, both region and an accomplished personality have their impact on the people when it comes to garnering success.

Ielts Essay Sports Fuels friendships or Rivalry
Competitive sports has managed to create a niche for itself, especially on grounds of opening doors to interaction of diverse cultures and beliefs: a platform that renders opportunities for two-way friendly communication though there are contradictory views and fears about frictions, resulting out of this kind of competition.

Competitive sports helps create a miracle: when team contingents travel to the host cities, they are followed by their keen fans who mingle with the natives of the country being visited. This intermingling creates a conducive atmosphere for a direct interaction of cultures and people get an opportunity to appreciate each other and develop a mutual understanding: thus weeding out long held complaints and bitterness between two nations.

On the top of that, sports that involve competition also help people to vent out their national affiliations in a very peaceful manner without causing any harm. The teams involved in the game battle it out in a sports arena without using any violent means, and the fans cheer and hoot their favorites, and rivals respectively in a very cordial environment inside a stadium. After the game is over, both the players and fans greet each other decently: thus creating a harmonious environment.

However, this kind of sports competition fuels misunderstandings among different countries. This owes to political class countries peddling narratives to suit their objectives: leaders rouse public emotions on the name of patriotism, often termed as jingoism  – interpreting victories over rivals as  invasions, and insulting people of rival nations. This is bound to evoke a hostile response and result in restricting harmonious interaction.

To conclude, I personally feel, the fears expressed by the detractors lack any substance; competitive sports is already creating an atmosphere  for a dialogue between civilizations.

more gas stations being built as opposed to diesel ones in rural areas
Ielts Essay - Gas Vs Diesel Station

Of late, a new trend is being noticed: more and more filling-stations are selling gas instead of diesel in rural areas. This, as per many, is bound to be beneficial for rural areas, but this does not miss vehement public derision from those who consider this decision to be loaded with drawbacks.

Prioritizing  sale of gas aims at dissuading rural inhabitants from using diesel – notorious for causing most air pollution and related hazards – and improving quality of air in the regional areas: the results of this switchover are already being reflected in the form the reduced sulphur, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide levels in the surroundings, making the air more  breathable  and healthier. There has  been a marked decline in incidence of respiratory disorders of severe multitude  among the ruralites. Moreover, the soil has been also spared of contaminants  which was, in the past, a big concern that was not only impacting the fertility of land but also contaminating water bodies, by virtue of chemicals entering these due to water run-off.

However, as the detractors suggest, this is bound to create chaos in village life: most equipment, used in various tasks and jobs, ranging from agriculture to household, run on this heavy fossil fuel. If the this fuel becomes hard to source, either most of the villagers will have to travel miles to buy, or, those cannot afford it, will have to give up their work. Even if, people shift their usage to gas, they would have to make heavy investments on buying equipment and tools that use gas; thus taxing rural economy.

Hence, I personally feel, although this decision carries both benefits and drawbacks, it is still quite a good decision, as health is of a paramount concern. Thus, such arrangement is a welcome change.

In some countries, it is illegal for employers to reject the people are applying for job because of his/her age
Do you think it is a positive or negative development?

In some countries it is illegal for employers to reject the people

Favorable

  • Now the elderly, or young people do not have to struggle to earn a livelihood and support their life

  • Where senior citizens will not face mental hardships, the young will not have to take to crime

  • The aged will not feel abandoned, and the young will be able to gain requisite experience and a chance to develop their skills

Detrimental

  • Companies will be forced to select even those who are unfit or less skilled for a specific job

  • Create unemployment among more talented people and deprive society of chances to harness the real talent

  • This might organizations financially as the overaged people might require extensive medical support, while inexperienced young people might cause accidents and damage to equipment

Discriminating and rejecting applicants for employment on the basis their age has been declared as unlawful in many countries. This is fiercely and profoundly debated between the critics and advocates who consider it to be counter-productive and constructive respectively though I consider it to be favorable, depending on the conditions.

Undoubtedly, this decision will prove to beneficial in the long-run: it will save many, especially the most vulnerable group of senior citizens, the frequent victims of such discrimination, from plummeting into financial crisis. Elderly are always exposed to acute scarcity of financial resources, and most do not have anyone else to lean on, so they seek livelihood to cope with their everyday expenses. In such as case,  if they face rejection, they will not only suffer financially but also mentally.

Moreover, this could also help society derive several direct and indirect benefits. This will surely bring down public expenditure and keep tax-hikes at bay: the governments will not need to render unemployment support and pensions to help those jobless, having been turned down due to their age; and the tax-payers will also be not burdened with extra taxes – needed to support such people.

However, this policy has a darker side too. Hiring workers is the purview of businesses: they select or refuse applications on the basis of their job-specific requirements – that may involve considering, hazards, stress, intensity and hard-work associated with the work; and being deprived this privilege will put operations of companies at risk and also raise their expenditure; thus making their functioning unprofitable leading to closure in extreme cases – generating unemployment.

In hindsight, the policy of making filtering job aspirants on the basis of age legally unacceptable is even though a positive evolution, it must be applied prudently and discreetly to harness appropriate outcomes.

The difference in age between parents and their children has increased compared to the past
Ielts Essay Age Gap between Parents And Children

Social theorists are today, intrigued by the new trend that is seeing people having children much later than they had in the past. Nevertheless, this has both strengths and shortfalls though I find this phenomenon to be laden with more shortfalls than strengths.

It is not too hard to enumerate failings of this trend: kids tend to miss golden opportunities to get involved in various activities with their parents – which tends to make them less and less confident and more and more lonely. As mothers and fathers grow old, they lose ability to cope up with the demands of their sons and daughters, of participating in activities, especially that require physical efforts such as playing some kind of sports, or  activities, like helping with home-works. This creates a void in the mental and physical growth of the young ones.

Moreover, this is leading to frictions due to generation gap: the bigger the age-difference, wider the wedge of aspirations and expectations between the generations, and greater the likelihood of clashes. With the things changing fast, the technology, the social set-up and even the working-methods are witnessing radical transformations, and by the time the kids turn into adults, parents are already a thing of by-gone era, as some may suggest. This creates difference in almost everything, thus making them incompatible to each other.

However, this phenomena does have a brighter side too, the parents who have kids later in life tend to offer financial stability to their families, as most of them have already established themselves in their careers and are near the pinnacle, which helps them earn handsome money; thus a promising future to the kids.

To cap it, this is quite clear that drawbacks of this trend eclipse its benefits; hence it may prove to be detrimental  in long run.

Many parents (mostly women) decide to stay home and take care of the family members instead of going out for work
Ielts Essay Parenting and compensation

With family systems undergoing a sea-change  and nuclear families coming into existence, it is being observed that either the father or the mother chooses to forego professional pursuit to look-after their kids. This has resulted in demand that such people should be compensated despite some presenting a strong aversion to this proposal.

People deserve to be compensated for their sacrifice: such foregoing of a professional pursuit has helped the society in. Supporters of such benefits retort, unemployment is a burning issue, and governments are struggling to alleviate joblessness; such a decision always comes in as a boon in disguise: if these people had chosen to work, they would have occupied a place on which some other people are working – thus providing employment to at least one member of a family; thereby reducing income disparities in the society.

Moreover, such remuneration would be a true tribute to those choosing to take the initiative to ensure a healthy future of society, at the cost of their careers. In the materialistic world, it is rare to find people prepared to forego promising professional pursuits for the sake of the future of their children and thus the society, and such compensation could prove to be at least a consolation.

However, critics to this proposal consider it to be ludicrous. As per them, If such people remain out of job and lose money somewhere, they also save some; they do not need any external help to assist them, and this decision is their own and not forced upon them. Furthermore, such a decision would tax the state financially and would lead to many unwarranted consequences, like hike in taxes, etc.

To conclude,  I concur with this proposal, and find such a compensation to be worthwhile and surely productive.

Nowadays many people prefer to use their own cars to commute rather than buses and trains
Ielts Essay  Private Or Public Transport
Of late, many have started resorting to using their own vehicles instead of public transport. This, inclination despite creating many problems, as per some, can be attributed to certain plausible reasons. But, state can take some really innovative steps to bring around a change in this trend.

The most prominent of the reasons of why most prefer using private conveyance over public transport is the absence of efficient networks;  lack of reach, due to which, people, especially in urban areas often have to wait long to access transport; battle it out in the crowded buses and trains; or, end up either needing change on the routes, or using multiple modes in a single trip. This makes cars a more attractive option: ones travelling by their own four-wheelers get a door-to-door service, and  enjoy a convenience of time.

Moreover, possession of cars and travelling using them, today, has presumably become a status symbol of sorts, and many find travelling  by public means to be quite disparaging, they  do not want to be seen struggling in a crowded bus of a train  – this perception is more prominently visible in the poor countries. This perspective is strengthened by lack of availability of appropriate public commuting systems options that  could serve an elite clientele.

However, the trend of abandoning public modes in favor of private mediums, can be halted provided the governments, across the world, take up prudent steps: establishing effective and efficient public commuting system to cater to a cross-section of society as per their requirements; using inducements to commuters to promote use of public mode of movement, etc.

To conclude, I personally feel, despite lure of private commuting deepening among people, the trend can  be stemmed if certain judicious steps are taken.

Many people believe that reducing speed limit is the best option for road safety improvement
Ielts Essay Speed Limits
Over-speeding is a modern evil fuelled by adventurous spirits of humans which can sometimes, result in unwarranted outcomes, often fatal injuries. This makes it imperative, as per many, to curb speed though this practice has its own benefits and of course, some drawbacks. I am quite convinced about using speed control mechanism: there is no other alternative to ensure road safety.

It is commonly felt, reigning in speeding drivers is the only solution to make roads safer, or else drivers would never be able to overcome the temptation of pushing gas pedals of their vehicles further down. If this law is implemented strictly, people will, instead of finding excuses to drive faster and displaying their fearless attitudes, will adjust to the conditions and adopt safe driving habits.

Installing speed limits on roads, highways and streets, can prove to be highly productive a step: it would make drivers drive responsibly and safely, thus, reducing number of accidents, and thus injuries and causalities. It has been observed quite often that when driving at high speeds, people have little time to respond effectively to any situation since their reflexes cannot function as fast as the speed of their vehicles. This jeopardizes safety of not only the occupants of erring automobiles but also of others around.

However, critics of the speed limit arrangement often cite certain shortfalls of slowing down the vehicles. This, as per them may lead in rise in levels of air and noise pollution: vehicles moving at a slow speed tend to consume too much fuel, and their engines also tend to generate more noise, due to higher rounds per minute.

To summarize, applying speed control norms can help a great deal in ensuring that people remain safe while plying on the roads; hence it is advantageous.

In the modern world it is possible to shop
Ielts Essay Internet
Like every coin has two sides, use of internet in almost every walk of life also has its pros and cons. Even though people may call it a positive  a phenomena, I feel this has brought in an array of  adverse consequences on humans and their society.

Use of internet for carrying out work, like communicating, shopping and working  has ushered in an era of great convenience. Now, people do not need to leave their comfort zones, and face pollution and crowds: they can save time which otherwise would be wasted in travelling to offices, shopping areas and meeting nears and dears. Use of internet to carry out various professional and personal functions has also aided in expanding their horizons – people are working, shopping and establishing relationships in areas that were beyond their imagination formerly.

However, this trend has also brought along certain serious drawbacks along, there is an increased risk of frauds and lack of privacy. People and their private data is no more their confidential, as public domain is privy to even the most intimate details of professional domains and personal lives, which makes individuals vulnerable to online data thefts and trickery.

I personally feel that despite  certain partisans promoting this trend as a path breaking innovation, use of internet in almost every walk of life had led to social isolation and stress. Nowadays, most individuals find themselves leading a lonely life: they may although be in touch with thousands professionally and personally, and may be doing a lot of work conveniently, they are still lacking social intimacy, which humans generally crave for, and this is having its unwarranted impact on humans.

Henceforth, it can be said that by and large humans are at a receiving end because of this new introduction.

In many countries the proportion of older people is steadily increasing
Ielts Essay Aged population proportion
In recent years as the technology fuelled medical care has facilitated longevity, many countries across the globe are witnessing a demographic shift leaning in favor of elderly people. This has intrigued several social scientists, as they set out to unravel the associated benefits and drawbacks of such a trend.

It will be not be very hard to enumerate the brighter side of this phenomenon: an increasing proportion of aged people in the society means more and more people with enhanced and seasoned expertise. Such people have spent a life working in their realms and are well-entrenched with the knowledge of their realms. These people even after retiring from their jobs have been contributing to the society by not only working for much less money but also passing down their knowhow to the younger generation.

Notwithstanding the meager benefits accrued by the society, a higher ratio of elderly population has become a nightmare of sorts for the economies, a cause of fiscal strain - even the rich nations are feeling the brunt, since the governments of such countries must allocate higher financial outlay for health care and old-age support services of the senior citizens; thus causing a steep rise in the public spending. It predisposes higher tax burdens on the young tax payers.

Moreover, higher proportion of elderly individuals in a society means a certain slow down of the economy in the long run. The skills pools of such countries face a structured deficit of trained and able bodied manpower that eventually casts an evil shadow on the economic progress; thereby putting the very future of a country in a grave danger.

Hence, I personally feel, higher percentage of aged individuals in the society is undoubtedly a sign of problems to be encountered in future. Ways should be found to arrest the trend of fast dwindling ratio of younger population, or this may threaten the future of the society, as well as the economies.

Child labor is a major concern all over the world
Ielts Essay CHild Labor
Involving children in some kind of paid work, especially in impoverished nations, has become a menace for humanity since this malady threatens the very future of human race. Many social theorists are trying to find reasons behind this highly deplorable phenomena though in their view, this can be eradicated.

This social stigma, in a way, especially in poor countries – where it is a prominent feature, can be attributed to the poor financial background of the families. Most are forced to push their wards into taking up employment at a tender age: they cannot afford the latter even a square meal a day, leave apart other luxuries and comforts. Youngsters are considered to be additional earning hands who can help bring in more money; thus making life a bit more secure.

Moreover, initiation and  continuation of child labor also finds its cause in the rampant illiteracy among parents. In most of the cases, it has been observed that mothers and father are oblivious of the ill-effects on health, both mental and physical,  and social behavior, of  forcing children into taking up employment. Such ignorance is proving to be disastrous for many societies; parents do not find it shameful an act to involve their kids in employment.

However, even though it is not easy to get rid of this shameful activity, measures can be taken to minimize it. To make it work, participation of both the government and the society is critical. Making available minimum subsistence resources; educating masses; and establishing stringent laws, that may involve penalties and imprisonment in extreme cases, to curb this social shame.

Hence, despite child labor being a big evil afflicting humanity, this can be wiped  out completely by adopting some serious steps. if steps are not taken quickly, society will suffer in the long run.

Nowadays international tourism is the biggest industry in the world
Ielts Essay - Tourism Boon or Bane
Travelling for leisure to other countries is fast becoming a fad among rich and poor alike, however, this has also resulted in a bitter argument, as many feel that this activity instead of helping forge bonds among people, is fuelling discord. I personally feel, the allegation of relations turning sour due to tourist activities is a mere accusation.

Visitors travelling to overseas locations are source of friction among two civilizations many a times since these travelers while visiting an alien location carry their own mannerisms and lifestyles; and often forget to respect local aspirations either gullibly or intentionally, inviting irk of natives in the process; and thus creating mistrust for each other. The situation, often termed as a crisis, worsens, bringing around violent responses from locals sometimes, when the young generation, of the nation being travelled to, gets influenced by the foreigners

Moreover, travelers are often termed as a menace: a cause of displeasure among the hosts which makes them wary of foreign visitors. The tourists tend to litter around without caring for the sanctity of the places they visit. Many consider this activity to be a source of pollution and raised carbon emissions, the cost of which must be compensated by the locals later. This makes natives feel jealous of the tourists.

Nevertheless, the tourism enthusiasts feel that the tourist activity is helping build bonds and bring diverse civilizations closer. This activity facilitates a prolific exchange of views and aspirations, cultural values of people from disparate backgrounds and political affiliations. Tourism helps people experience different cultures and lifestyles, which, in turn, helps broaden mindsets and create harmony.

Hence, disputs aside, it can be safely asserted that tourism is not an evil, as proposed by detractors, but a constructive activity helps brush tribal attitudes aside.

Nowadays more and more people want to live by themselves. What are the reasons? Is it a positive or negative trend?

Nowadays more and more people want to live by themselves
Ielts Essay - LIving Alone
Fast changing times have fuelled drastic transformations in the aspirations of people: many have started leading a solitary life. This tendency, as per some social experts, has some major benefits, as well as some drawbacks. I personally find this kind of lifestyle to be a negative development.

Inclination  to live by oneself can be attributed to the generation gap. It is felt that when the expectations of two generations do not complement each other, there is a clash of opinions, predisposing families to discord. The new generation does not seem to be interested in surrendering to the will of their elders, or the compromising with them, neither do the parents appear to be flexible enough, which often results in young people moving away from their families, living  on their own.

The trend of leading a life by oneself is often appreciated as a favorable development: cloistered living makes one more responsible, independent and non-complaining. Such people become capable of handling their affairs, ranging from taking decisions about their personal and professional lives to handling complex financial matters. Such people tend to be rational in their approach and often become seasoned adults who seldom complain anyone for their problems and plight.

However, this shift in lifestyles has its own darker side too. It is being observed that such arrangement tend to turn one into solitary and unsocial creatures who are bereft of ability to confide with their acquaintances: they lack the ability to forge relations. It would not be a surprise if such individuals turn apathetical towards the society, and circumvent a settled life with family.

Hence, even though the reasons driving such propensity are obvuous, it will be quite appropriate to state here that leading a lonely life under the garb of independence has nothing beneficial associate with it.

Ielts Essay - In many countries plastic bags are the main source of rubbish causing pollution in oceans and on land Agree or Disagree Essay

In many countries plastic bags are the main source of rubbish causing pollution in oceans and on land; therefore they should be banned. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

As focus on protecting  environment intensifies, talks of imposing a ban on the plastic bags seems to be gaining momentum. But is banning these bags really correct? It is a matter worth deep delving into.

Keen green lobbyists cite various reasons for curbing use of carry-bags made of polyurethane: they are truly a menace for the environment. Being bio non-degradable, it is really hard to get rid of plastic bags. As estimates suggest, the way humans are dumping plastic bags, the day is not far when planet earth  will get choked. This has also become a cause of exacerbating even mild natural phenomena into major disasters, like incessant rains turning into floods, because of the choked drains -  that are blocked by plastic.

Moreover, these bags have quickly penetrated various spheres of environment, especially the land and water. The debris of plastic bags either are turning fertile land into barren areas - since they impede transfer of nutrients back to soil, if bags made out of plastic are abandoned on the land, or are being consumed by marine life which ultimately ends up killing it. In case fish survive long enough to caught by humans, the plastic residue is transferred to human body with sea food; thus threatening the human health too.

However, there are those who feel that banning bags of plastic is not the right solution. Plastic bags are a better way to protect natural resources – they are synthesized using artificial material, and use much less energy to produce. It is felt that poor plastic bags are victims of misconceptions and misuse – it is humans to blame for this and not humble bags.

To conclude, I personally feel, curtailing plastic bags use is the only choice: this is the only way to flush out this serious hazard.
