Recently, teenagers have not been following rules and their parents’ advice. Is this good or bad?

Nowadays, it has been seen that teenaged juveniles are becoming prone to not following the suggestions from their elders; it is impacting their lifestyle in both positive and negative ways. In the forthcoming paragraphs, I will analyze both sides of the coin and share my inclination.

To start with, a school of thought believes that sometimes adolescents following the self instincts and overlooking external interventions can result in positive outcomes and help carve out an independent personality by exploring and learning to make the decisions on their own, turning them into mature personalities. A survey carried out by the Central Board of Education found that, in 2022 more than 70% of teenagers in a classroom were deciding for themselves and handling several tasks independently such as preparing their timetable for daily routine, and so on. It was found that this attitude was more rewarding as the rest of 30% of those dependent on their parents required reminders to perform any academic activity.

However, the cynics believe that this propensity can expose teenage juveniles to a slew of chances of going astray easily since they are in the stage of transformation that will lead them to adulthood, neither they are children, nor they are grown ups, and due to lack of experience and maturity, they could be easily swayed by temptation, often leading them unwarranted circumstances. Youngsters between thirteen and seventeen are increasingly engaging in juvenile crimes  such as shoplifting and vandalism, to name a few. Moreover, they will also miss the chances to inherit the moral and ethical values of their parents.

Overall, I believe that not following the suggestions from the parents can adversely affect the future of teenagers and also lead to troublesome consequences; thus, they should be counseled regularly for guidance.
