Nowadays many people want to buy famous brands of clothes, cars and other items. What are the reasons for this? Do you think it is a positive or negative development?

In concurrent times, a lobby opines that a majority of consumers like to have rich lifestyles by using branded clothes, investing into luxury cars, and many more to maintain their social status. In this essay, I will elucidate some causes for the same and provide the justified opinion about why it is an unfavorable evolution.

To embark upon, a school of thought propounds that with the increase in disposable income, the tastes and preferences have also changed by virtue of which many want to invest into big brands to upgrade their social status: it helps in boosting their confidence as they look affluent. Nowadays, as a plethora of brands - targeting a varied income strata - are easily available all across the world and they provide items at affordable prices, it gives people a vast variety to choose from, and they like to spend on the quality products as these are more durable.

Nevertheless, this trend is increasing the gap between the affluent and the destitutes as one can easily identify the difference by just looking at a person, and numerous people are wary of this, and thus avoid going to the social gatherings.


Also, this is augmenting the peer pressure, pushing many young children to force their parents to provide them with luxury items, or resorting to indulging in unlawful activities to attain their goals. A recent survey revealed that juvenile crime has increased and the reason for that is youngsters seeking money to satisfy their craving to buy expensive things. 

Overall, famous brands have improved the lifestyle of people drastically; however, one cannot ignore the drawback it has on the society which is pressuring parents and they have to sacrifice their own needs to fulfil demand of their wards.
