Giving lectures in auditoriums to large numbers of students is an old way of teaching. With the technology available today there is no justification for it, and everything should be done online. To what extent do you agree or disagree? Give your own opinion.

Giving lectures in auditoriums to large numbers of students is an old way of teaching. With the technology available today there is no justification for it, and everything should be done online. To what extent do you agree or disagree? Give your own opinion.

In this era of technology, all spheres of life have changed dramatically. With the emergence of it, the traditional mode of teaching has taken a back seat while online classes have become a buzzword in recent years, and I agree with this idea and believe that the merits of online teaching outstrip the ancient way of teaching; thus, the latter should be shelved.

The idea of imparting knowledge by making optimal use of technology would benefit the institutions intensely. The cost of building infrastructure, hiring staff for its maintenance and many more will save a phenomenal amount of money which can be utilised for further advancements and facilities. From this perspective, online education would be of great advantage and have a better impact.

Similarly, this will be favourable for students as well. The online mode can help them in saving the most precious commodity: the time, which is usually wasted in commuting. The time saved can be used more productively by investing it in studying. Moreover, this will also allow saving money otherwise expended on travelling to and from educational institutions; and buying books, and uniform, and so on. Concurrently, this has also aided educational establishments to widen their outreach among the learners.

On top of that with its vast reach, online methods of teaching have helped drive in another major benefit. Students can have access to education even from remote areas, they only require an internet connection to study. Because of this flexibility and convenience, online lectures are becoming very popular among people.

To reiterate, in recent years, a considerable rise in popularity of online teaching has overwhelmed society. Due to its efficacy, convenience and cost-effectiveness, as well, the traditional mode of classroom teaching can be substituted.

The traditional way of teaching aids in maximizing productivity of the students. In classrooms, learners get a more serious and formal environment which helps them to concentrate better on their studies. Moreover, this instils a sense of discipline since they are always under observation of their tutors, due to which they remain focussed all the time. With this perspective, the conventional method affords greater advantages and has a better impact.

In addition to the above, face to face conversation leads to better comprehension. Classroom teaching allows students to interact with lecturers in person when there is clarification required and it is extremely convenient to understand when people are physically present at one place. Such methods help establish a bond between teachers and students, alleviating the hesitation in the students. Therefore, the traditional mode of teaching is irreplaceable.

To reiterate, recent years have seen a considerable rise in online teaching since technology has practically taken over lives. However, the traditional mode of imparting knowledge cannot be substituted due to its efficacy and productivity as well. Hence, I fail to concur with the statement.
