Some people think that watching sports
in leisure time is just a waste of time. Do you agree or disagree with this
statement?
Watching sports in free time is a likely option for a
majority, but quite often, this free time activity is looked down upon with great
disdain by detractors of sports. As per this section, this time could be used
more productively though I completely disagree with the notion: this is a great
way to distress.
Watching sports during free time has some drawbacks, as
people tend to live vicarious lives, ape players and pretend what they are not.
Cheering from sidelines, besides being unproductive, has a good potential to
make people impulsive and aggressive, the fall-out of which can be unwanted
unfortunate violence. Watching sports also leads to sacrificing whole day that
could have been used to interact with family and friends.
However, watching sports in free time, is considered as the best
and safest of the options. Watching a prefabricated and predictable story, in
form of movies and soaps, is mundane and sometimes taxing for, the already
drained of energy, people. The sports lovers do not only get a chance to watch
the most exciting reality shows, in form of matches, but also get a chance to
observe and learn about how teams, or players cope-up with the pressure, and
make comebacks. These skills can be of immense help in real life, especially at
workplaces.
This past time is laden with multiple benefits for physical
and mental health. It helps viewers to vent out their pent up feelings of
remorse, anger, aggression and frustration – when a team is underperforming, or
losing – quite safely without any damage.
People also get a chance to experience jubilation while watching a match,
this helps people experience excitement similar to players playing in the game.
Hence, watching sports in free time is better than many
other ways of spending leisure time, and any criticism extended is a mere
expression of those who are jealous of this pastime.
