In Britain when someone gets old they often go to live in a home, with other old people. There are Nurses to look after them and sometimes the Government pays for their Care.Who do you think, should pay Government or the Family?
Ielts Essay On Old Age Homes |
This
is paradox that some old people are condemned to homes meant for the aged,
after being abandoned by their families, nonetheless Great Britain is
witnessing a growing trend among the elderly, as they choose to live in places with their own peer group. This evokes a debate across different sections, as to whether
who should actually take the responsibility of the funding these
facilities.
Some people feel that the expenditure
incurred on this should be borne by the Government based on a strong
argument, that only Government has a regular and a constant source of
finances and it also able to create reserves and separate programs that
can facilitiate fundings of such initiatives regularly.
Besides
the constant source of income, these elderly pay taxes on cause of social responsibility for others, while being in their youth, it hereby
becomes imperative for the society as a whole to contribute to their welfare and the state being the tax collector should shoulder the
responsibility of facilitating senior citizens.
Nevertheless, there are some suggesting that bearing the expenditure of these services is solely the onus of the family and children of those in their autumn years; the latter have spent and sacrificed their lives for the
betterment and the upbringing of the former, thereby turning them into deserving receipients of such support.
In conclusion, I would
rather insist that this kind of the social responsibilities can only be
successfully implemented by the regime. Politicians being the authority and stable policy makers can only afford a such a long term
initiative. Even if some NGO works on these lines, It would need a major
assistance from the government.
