An ever growing number of people have, all of
a sudden, become quite enthusiastic about faking their age; and masquerading as
someone younger than they actually are – age is just a number for such
individuals. Several factors fuel this inclination; however, this trend has both
a brighter and a darker side to it.
Craving to look younger, than one actually
is, stems from the personal and social need to look presentable, and fit; and
thus socially active. Looking youthful can help ensure that a person remains
attractive and approachable, primarily for the opposite sex. In the current
era, when outward appearance – skin deep – clearly outweighs inner qualities,
people have become inclined to sustaining their physical charm.
Numerous experts thank the lust to retain
youthful looks: this has helped individuals lead an inspired life – that has
persuaded them to abandon sedentary lifestyles, that were soaked in gluttony,
and take up some kind of healthy routines, both physical and dietary. This, as
per many surveys, has helped improve the quality of life substantially, and
made people physically and mentally healthy, and of course happier; they find
their lives to be in control.
Having said that, it would be too naïve to
ignore the severe pitfalls this craving has produced that have driven people
crazy, so much so, that many, in an attempt to compete with each other, do not
mind subjecting their bodies to expensive and harsh cosmetic surgeries – that
can often backfire and permanently lead to physical deformation. In extreme
cases, a treatment gone wrong can turn into a life-threatening situation.
In a nutshell, although retaining young looks
is very much in vogue, and has several positives, the drawbacks of this
inclination must be seriously considered. However, I am more inclined to consider
negative outcomes of this newly emerging trend.
