Nowadays many young people are drawn
towards dangerous sports. What makes them so attractive? What measures should
be taken to regulate such sports and minimize the risks?
Since long, the thought of undertaking adventurous activity
has excited people, but recently the tryst to seek adventure has somehow got
translated into an increasing number of youth participating in dangerous
sports. This raises a concern among many, who are hunting for possible reasons
for this craving, and also some practical solutions to reduce the risks
involved.
The most plausible reason for the increasing inclination among
young generation towards adventures sports lies in their restlessness,
recklessness and intentions to do something unconventional. The youth, down the
ages, has always represented a change, and they have tried to stay a step ahead
of ancestors. In other words, performing what their parents or grandparents did
is already known and stale, so to satisfy the rush of adrenaline, young people
take part in dangerous sports. Furthermore, the young people wish to stay in
limelight today and be revered by their friends and dears, and nothing can be
as awe-inspiring as an episode narrating feats of enduring the danger in a
sporting activity.
Moreover, it has been a human tendency since ages to seek
new ways to satisfy the cravings for excitement. In the past, people used to
embark on dangerous voyages – that finally led to discovery of distant lands
and unknown corners also. Now as almost every part of globe has been explored,
new venues to satisfy the lust for braving dangerous situations have been
discovered.
The dangers can however, be reduced, if not avoided, by
offering adequate training and equipment to the practitioners of such
activities, and also ensuring that such endeavours are only undertaken under
the supervision of seasoned practitioners.
To conclude, I feel,
by minimizing the risks we can ensure safety, but it is impossible to stop the
participants from taking up dangerous sports.
