In contemporary times, when nuclear families are a norm of the day, many often profoundly argue whether rearing children in a nuclear family is worthwhile, or it is more useful to let them grow in an extended family. 

Raising young ones in an extended family carries numerous benefits, as many social theorists suggest. These kinds of  family settings allow the children to not only know their parents but also familiarize themselves with their grandparents, uncles, aunts, and their cousins. This helps foster cohesive family identity and also lets the young minds get acclimatized with the traditions and cultures that have been passed down the generations. Thus, assisting in perpetuation of customs and rituals. Several studies have shown, where young individuals grow in a joint family are more closely connected to and are enlightened about their roots.

Moreover, joint family arrangement affords better monitoring of the tender minds. Many a time, children need disciplining, and at times moral support which can be ill-afforded by couples living away from their joint family environment. When others seniors are there to observe and counsel, mothers and fathers rarely need to worry about as they go around fulfilling their professional and social obligations.

Nevertheless, many favor non-extended family settings. As per them, children  growing up in nuclear family set-up  stay emotionally connected to  their fathers and mothers. This generally is seen as highly beneficial during ageing, as youngsters appreciate their responsibilities towards their parents and are in a better state to render care for old during the twilight years of the latter.

To conclude, even though the decision of bringing up young ones in a joint family or a nuclear one relies completely on people involved or the circumstance, child rearing can become more effective the former settings.
