Many researchers show that overeating can have negative effects and people believe that advertising of certain foods should be banned, in the same way that some countries banned advertising cigarettes. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this ?

There has been a topical debate between researchers and consumers, as at one end it is said that promotion of certain food should be prohibited just like is the case with cigarettes because the former also causes ill-health, whereas at the other end, some do oppose this notion and register their dismay.

Advertising of certain food items must be curtailed completely, as the consumption of such products cause severe health hazards, not only to the adults but to the youngsters as well. Display of such edible products on print or electronic media forces buyers to consume such products. Due to which, they stop having their healthy diet and become the prey of artificial taste and flavor. Thus, deteriorating their level of nutrition, eventually weakening their immunity; consequently,  society must invest colossal sums in safeguarding the human resources - as evident in the report published by Cornell university. Thus, banning the advertisement of some foods is praised by many.

Nonetheless, the counterpart of this notion claims that doing so will render little purpose and bring no good to the society: those already influenced by such articles will certainly find one or other way to fulfill their craving. Similarly, the lobby believes that banning the publicizing of such products will do little to help since unless manufacturing is halted, people will not stop consuming such food. Moreover, it is not the ads which are fueling such faulty food habits, but the inclination of consumers who are inclined to eating these items.

Overall, I completely agree with the idea of forbidding advertising of some food products because it may not stop the consumers from having such food, but it will prevent the upcoming generation from getting influenced  by such items, as for them these will cease to exist.
