Some people say that to prevent illness and disease, governments should focus more on reducing environmental pollution and housing problems.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?

The great public discourse of contemporary times is aligned with the issue of whether the state should emphasize on combating pollution and accommodation challenges, or not, to improve public health. I shall analyze this matter and elucidate my inclination.

An army of people supporting this view vehemently assumes that various ailments can be prevented by reducing pollutants surfacing in the environment. Contaminated surroundings are a prominent reason behind a myriad of maladies, such as asthma, cancer, and so on. To exemplify, a study carried-out by The University of Waterloo concluded that the number of patients suffering from diseases caused by environmental pollution is rising exponentially.

Furthermore, another lobby expresses that inappropriate housing facilities are also engendering concern. While in the scenarios where it takes long hours to reach homes from workplaces, or from any other place, stress is becoming a common challenge. The fear of becoming a victim of mishaps on the road during commuting also exacerbates the situation. Besides this, small dwelling units, populated by a plethora of individuals also need to be considered. These are causing ill-health, and thus, governments must work on alleviating these problems.

Nonetheless, the skeptics outrightly reject this and assert that the need for developed health facilities cannot be overlooked, and lack of nutritious diet is another major factor responsible for the number of afflictions. This can be corroborated by citing the outcomes of a report published by AIIMS, wherein they stated that an unbalanced diet is making thousands of youngsters vulnerable to malnutrition.

In hindsight, even though inadequate housing spaces and toxins surfacing in surroundings are exposing Individuals to several maladies, it is hard to ignore other forces. Therefore, rather than prioritizing the given factors, it is imperative to take other aspect in consideration as well.

In some countries, more and more people are becoming interested in finding out about the history of the house or building they live in. What are the reasons for this? How can people research this?

In contemporary times, many are quite curious about acquiring the knowledge regarding the past of the dwelling unit they are living in. This propensity is driven by several causes and there are umpteen ways to derive such information.

To start with, several individuals are keen in knowing the past of their residence for the sake of the safety of their family and want to understand the background of the structure. For Instance, a study conducted in the Delhi University by Professor Ajay Panda, in 2015,  revealed that those migrating to urban areas decide to purchase an apartment. However, before that they are eager to know about the previous owners, the neighborhood, and possible crimes that happened in the past since they want to find a safe place to live with their family.

There are various methods of acquiring this information. Buyers can quiz the broker from whom they are buying and leasing the property, and also interview neighbors. Beside this, they can enquire from the municipal authorities about the background as well as technical specifications of their premises.

Moreover, the internet can also help in gathering inputs about places: people can get data with just one click, about the house, locality, history and crime rate of that place, especially the famous ones. For example, according to the professor, John Wilson, 95 % of people today browse web portals of city authorities and also neighbors of the colony they intend to live in, to extract necessary information about the background of the real estate they are going to reside in.

In hindsight, there is a rising increased anxiousness among residents to discover the history of the structure they are occupying. The principal reason is safety concerns. They can inform themselves about this through physical, or virtual means.

Weddings are getting bigger and more expensive. What is the reason for this? Is it a positive or a negative development?

Weddings are getting bigger and more expensive. What is the reason for this? Is it a positive or a negative development?

Nowadays, weddings have become a status symbol, turning them into an extravagant affair. This growing propensity can be attributed to several causes, but it does have favorable and unfavorable effects on people.

The primary motivation promoting this extravagance lies in many considering marriages to be a once in a lifetime event. Umnpteen numbers, especially parents consider this as an opportunity to celebrate such rare occurrences with all the fanfare, and with the nuclear families becoming ubiquitous, the number of children per family have shrunk, turning tying nuptials into a rare occasion. This persuades the populace to go in for lavish marriage events. As per them, this helps create memorable moments that will become a part of nostalgia later, something to be relished by all in the family alike.

Nevertheless, this evolution is surely not something one can term as laden with benefits. It has been observed that people tend to spend their entire savings, or even take loans for making weddings more lavish. This can have a long lasting impact on their future as many times it becomes an uphill task to repay the debt, leading families into a vicious cycle of financial crisis.

To corroborate, this can be supported by citing the outcomes of studies carried out by eminent social theorists from across the world that have revealed that a major cause of bad credit standings owes to lendings for marriages that are hard to repay back. Many have been found sacrificing their other essential necessities to surmount the problems stemming from such spending.

Overall, big fat marriage events do look an attractive idea, but the aftermath of undertaking such endeavors can cause an undue stress of financial credentials and eventually affect the quality of life. Thus, I feel it is an unfavorable trend.

Many museums charge for admission while others are free. Do you think the advantages of charging people for admission to museums outweigh the disadvantages?

Many museums charge for admission while others are free. Do you think the advantages of charging people for admission to museums outweigh the disadvantages?

Nowadays, people have to pay entrance fees for visiting some of the museums. A lobby believes that this practice has umpteen benefits, while others disagree. This essay shall elucidate both the viewpoints and try to come to a conclusion.

The most prominent benefit afforded by charging access fees is that it helps generate revenue that can be used for the maintenance and upkeep of museums, thereby reducing the government expenditure on such facilities, and indirectly benefiting the taxpayers by keeping the tax burden low. It further aids in attracting only serious connoisseurs who are keenly interested in what these places have to offer and who appreciate the value and significance of the artifacts displayed there. It also acts as a deterrent for unruly elements by preventing them from entering the premises and using it for various nefarious activities. This has been corroborated by a recent survey where the paid museums consistently ranked above free museums in terms of cleanliness and safety due to absence of crimes like pickpocketing, making it prudent for authorities to levy entry fees.

On the contrary, the critics argue that such policies dissuade curious youngsters, due to the prohibitive costs involved, from learning about the culturally and historically significant events one can glean on museum tours. It also prevents the local schools from arranging the field trips, denying the students the opportunity to expand on the knowledge gained from their curriculum. Thus, a large portion of the population is deprived of opportunities to become familiar with nostalgia, defeating the purpose for these institutions

Overall, even though there are certain pitfalls of imposing entry charges, I believe the benefits eclipse them overwhelmingly, and the former can be easily overcome by providing discounts to the target groups.

Elderly people are nowadays being sent to old aged homes rather than being looked after by a family in homes. Do the advantages of old aged homes outweigh the disadvantages?

Elderly people are nowadays being sent to old aged homes rather than being looked after by a family in homes. Do the advantages of old aged homes outweigh the disadvantages?

Elderly people are nowadays being sent to old aged homes rather than being looked after by a family in homes.

Benefits

  • These places are well-equipped with facilities and aids needed to support the elderly.
  • These places  offer a comfortable environment due to people being of similar age group: preventing a feeling of alienation
  • Offers security to the elderly, specifically those who either do not have an offspring or their wards are living in different locations
  • Offers shelter and food to homeless senior citizens

Drawbacks

  • These are expensive facilities which cost taxpayers a lot, making them pay  for someone’s callous approach towards their parents
  • The environment of such places is morbid(gloom, sad) as against pleasant: death and illness is a frequent sight
  • One cannot, despite offering several facilities, take away the feeling of loneliness and abandonment  that afflicts those in their autumn years

The biggest calamity of shifting family settings have been the elderly who are left to fend for themselves, and thus end up in old age homes, but do these establishments shelter the lonely abandoned from misfortunes, or do these add to woes of the aged, is a matter profoundly pondered into.

These establishments afford all possible facilities to the ones in their twilight years: medical care and support, and help in performing every chores, to name a few. They are equipped with systems and surroundings that present little hazard to the older people: having but elevators instead of stair to climb to higher floors, or not having slippery floors that could cause injury, and also appropriately designed  toilets and showers that are suited to the needs of ageing individuals, which a family can never imagine providing to their older family members.

Nevertheless, quite contrary to the veneration which many render, these locations  are no less than a torment for the ageing inhabitants. These are confinements that are seldom frequented by family members, leaving the senior citizens emotionally drained since they can rarely participate in the merry moments with their loves ones, for which they worked throughout their lives, but are condemned to lead a life of rejection that also in their twilight years when they need emotional support of their loved ones the most. Moreover, these locations are not some places that afford merrymaking, but some dungeons that offer traumatic surroundings that are plagued by distressing sights of illness and death.

In hindsight, come what may, and despite being extolled as last refuge for hapless senior citizens, old age homes are laden with several failings that eclipse any favors they might fetch. These can offer facilities, but not comforts which families offer.

In some countries in Europe, some children from the age of 11 or 13 go to schools to learn more practical skills that will help them get a job. Other children stay in schools which provide a more general academic education. What should schools do to prepare students for the world of work? Give reason for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

In some countries in Europe, some children from the age of 11 or 13 go to schools to learn more practical skills that will help them get a job

Schools should:

  • Equip learners with the knowledge that they are likely to use in their prospective professions later as adults: this will help them settle down in their occupations quickly

  • Training them in interpersonal skills is also an important aspect

Contra view

  • Schools must continue what they are doing: equipping young learners with the knowledge about a broader range of subjects, which can help them augment their level of intellect needed to work successfully in professional realms.

Formal tuition forms a critical part of the formative years of young ones, and lays the foundation for professional life. This aspect provokes several lobbies to enumerate a list of tasks that these institutions must negotiate and execute to equip young learners with skills needed in their prospective occupations.

To start with, the paradigm/continental shift being observed in the contemporary era is astounding. Now, the employment giving organisations, in an attempt to cut down their cost of operations, have started preferring people who are already in possession of knowledge required to handle duties at job effectively. This expectation makes it imperative for the schools to don the mantle of preparing young learners for such an important task, so that youngsters do not have to struggle to train themselves in the skills they are likely to use in their professional assignments after graduating from formal tuition, and can also get time to polish their knowledge and capabilities.

Moreover, another critical responsibility schools must take is to train young learners in interpersonal skills by organising workshops, programs, and so on. It is commonly believed that most young graduates find it extremely hard to adapt to the work environment effectively, due to lacking in knowhow of how to efficiently communicate, coordinate with their co-workers, and how to respond to challenges faced by the organisation, as a part of a team. Numerous commentators suggest that if such capabilities and traits could be fostered right from the young age, the learners would be able to become well-versed in this pivotal skill.

Overall, schools taking up the initiative of inculcating qualities, abilities and the knowledge considered extremely essential for an effective engagement in the professional realm, is a positive step forward. In my perspective this would make schooling more meaningful.

Many animals are in danger of extinction. Some people say that we should protect only those animals, which are useful to humans. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Many animals are in danger of extinction. Some people say that we should protect only those animals, which are useful to humans. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Throughout the history of mankind, several species of fauna have died out. However, despite appreciating this fact, some suggest that the only crucial animals should be taken care of rather than all. I firmly disagree with this statement and shall discuss my view in further paragraphs.

Undeniably, certain animals are important assets and integrated into the daily life of humans, and have helped perpetuate human existence. To be precise, in terms of agricultural revolution, transportation and dairy food products consumption all started with cows and other species of animal kingdom that has been serving society; thus, these is considered to be the special for mankind and to ensure they should never reach the brink of extinction, they should not only be saved but also bred in huge numbers to help preserve species from a possible natural disaster.

However, even though the former claim may seem to be plausible in social and economic concerns, it falls flat in terms of environment: disappearance of any of the species has a potential to threaten all forms of life, including humans. It is undeniable that every living being is an integral part of a bigger ecological picture and the food chain, and if any of this vanishes, the whole system would crumble and collapse, affecting humans as a result. It is hard to overlook an instance that clearly corroborates this aspect: the man-made famine in China that  resulted in extermination of birds that led to an increase in the population of pests, causing destruction of the crop.

Overall,  although a few animals are essential to human lives to help in flourishing, other animals are equally important to maintain the food chain so that danger to human life can be eliminated entirely. Thus, all animals must be protected.

Children should play Indoor games on the computer more than outdoor games. Do you agree or disagree with the statement ?

Children should play Indoor games on the computer more than outdoor games. Do you agree or disagree with the statement ?

Children should play Indoor games on the computer more than outdoor games

Why play computer games

  • This will keep them safe from unsafe outdoors

  • Protect them from pollution and infections

  • Making youngsters tech savvy: this can prepare them for the future professional endeavors

  • This can also help improve their reflexes - quick thinking and decision making abilities

  • Teach them about solving complex  problem

Why not

  • Indoor activities expose youngsters to indolent (sedentary) lifestyles and make them vulnerable to disease

  • Hampers their mental and physical growth

  • They miss the chance to earn a healthy distraction

  • Impedes personality development - life skills and other important traits

  • They never learn about social interaction and behavior, and also about critical life skills

Many feel that young ones should devote more time to playing computer games at home rather than engaging in outdoor ones. However, there are critics of this proposal.

To start with, some strongly lobby behind this notion since virtual games can prove to be extremely useful when it comes to grabbing pivotal skills required by one to become tech savvy for the future life. Most young individuals are about to step into professional, social and familial realms where they will need to use the modern methods to negotiate a myriad of responsibilities, and these games can help familiarize them with the latest introductions of technology.

Notwithstanding the former view, even though virtual games do have certain benefits to offer,  persuading youngsters to engage with these can expose them to more drawbacks. They can turn into addicts simply gluing themselves to these activities and overlooking every other essential task required to fetch crucial learnings about various domains such as academics, meeting people in person and also interacting with surroundings.

To corroborate, this can be supported by citing the outcomes of  a survey conducted by the University of Waterloo to assess the detrimental impact of ignoring outdoor games in favor of computer-aided ones, on the young minds. The findings were startling as  most children had turned apathetic to their surroundings, and tended to avoid meeting others in the real world, engage in their studies and also ignore the need to get proper sleep. This, however, failed to benefit them academically and professionally.

In hindsight, despite computer games being promoted as highly beneficial for youngsters, I fail to concur with the idea of preferring these over outdoor engagements since the latter are laden with umpteen benefits. Striking a balance between both is highly desirable.

Many working people get little or no exercise either during the working day or in their free time and have health problems as a result. Why do so many working people not get enough exercise? What can be done about this problem?

In contemporary times, the workforce is plagued with a plethora of health issues due to insufficient physical activities. This is believed to stem from a myriad of causes, nonetheless remedies can be discovered to surmount this modern malady.

Many are unable to make time for exercising from their hectic schedule after a long day at work. Employees around the world are spending a significant amount of time commuting to and fro from their workplace since most of the jobs are in urban areas which are inundated with traffic issues and inadequate public transportation.

Additionally, one does not feel motivated to hit the gym after returning from work, owing to the high pressures they have to deal with in their day to day schedule, resulting in heightened stress and leaving them mentally exhausted. On top of that, performance demands at many positions entail following sedentary lifestyles, whereas in the past it was labor intensive and one did not have to spend additional time on physical activities.

Nonetheless, there are several mechanisms to overcome these issues. Employers can play a significant role to ensure their staff get ample opportunities to maintain their fitness. In the modern connected world, many workplaces do not require their employees to be present on site; professional obligations can be met while working from home. Similarly, organizations can provide gym and other recreational facilities like swimming pools at office locations and organize seminars on how to effectively manage work-life balance.

Overall, paucity of time and lack of motivation are the primary reasons due to which people are unable to spend as much amount of time engaging in physical endeavors as they would like to. These factors can be addressed by implementing policies that will encourage workers to pay attention to their fitness.

Nowadays most information is available online, whereas in the past knowledge used to be stored in books and on paper. Do you think the advantages of this situation outweigh its disadvantages?

Nowadays most information is available online, whereas in the past knowledge used to be stored in books and on paper. Do you think the advantages of this situation outweigh its disadvantages?

Nowadays, knowledge about any subject and topic can be accessed from the websites instead of following the traditional practice of reading books. This new trend offers both benefits and drawbacks.

To start with, the availability of information on the internet has made it easier for people to get inputs about any subject, topic and area of interest without needing to carry heavy books since a web portal can store millions of books in a small hard disc. Besides this, one does not need to go to the shop to buy separate books, or visit libraries to borrow them, they can now sit at their homes or in their offices and obtain any amount of data as per their desire, without paying huge amounts of money.

Additionally,  this new arrangement has brought in a major benefit for the environment. As internet based storage does not need any paper for printing, the need to cut down trees has reduced considerably, which is helping prevent deforestation. For example, many environmental studies carried out over the period of twenty years from 2000 show that clearing of the green cover has phenomenally slowed down due to demand for paper declining.

However, storing information about everything online and obtaining it from this source has a couple of major failings. The data is many times prone to hacking and manipulation, which can make it unreliable and users can be misled unless they are cautious. Moreover, this source of information is dependent on electricity and the network, and thus if both go missing people cannot get any information.

Overall, I firmly believe that even though the benefits of this evolution exceed its pitfalls, the conventional practice of writing and accessing books must not be abandoned to avoid any problems in case of any mishap.

Online currencies have become more common in recent years

Why are cryptos becoming popular + benefits

  • People are able to buy and sell anything from across the world without needing to worry about exchange rates

  • They are saved from inflation/deflation of exchange

  • Money is safe in one’s own digital account, none know how much one has

  • There is no tax on this currency

Negative evolution

  • It is not legal, and if it is declared unlawful, th users will lose a lot of money

  • Since it is not regulated, those owning this money are at a risk of losing everything if the body monitoring and hosting it chooses to close down

  • It is volatile in nature and its face value is not guaranteed.

Introduction

Nowadays, digital currencies are gaining prominence across the world. This can be attributed to numerous reasons, but one must not forget that this phenomenon, although, has umpteen pros, there are certain serious drawbacks.

To begin with, the primary motivation behind crypto currencies gaining popularity is the assumption of this form of money enjoying acceptability across the world. By virtue of being operated online, this form of money  does not need any bank authorized transfer channel or clearance from governments , but can be transferred to any part of the world at the simple click of the button, saving immense time and amount of money. Many opine that this convenience has persuaded several trading businesses and individuals to resort to utilizing this financial instrument.

Having said that, even though the supporters of this kind of financial resources cite several advantages, it is hard to overlook the failings associated with it. The most prominent of the pitfalls is that online money does not enjoy a legal status anywhere in the world and it is feared that the day regimes  decide to proscribe (ban) this resource, the owners of such money will be in deep trouble and lose all their financial holdings and suffer immense financial losses.

Similarly, it is undeniable that this monetary resource is highly vulnerable to fluctuations, and experiences frequent ups and downs in the value in a similar way to the stocks . This implies that the face value mentioned on this money might not fetch a similar price. There have been several reports of many losing millions due to this volatility

Overall, the convenience offered may have made virtual money popular, but nonetheless it is laden (loaded) with innumerable shortcomings and can cause people colossal financial losses. Thus  it is an unfavorable evolution.

Nowadays many people prefer to use private cars. What problems has this trend created? What solutions can you suggest?

Nowadays many people prefer to use private cars. What problems has this trend created? What solutions can you suggest?

A bizarre phenomenon appears to be surfacing nowadays that of late, the public is inclined towards using personal four-wheelers for commuting. The following paragraphs shall ponder upon the resultant issues of this phenomenon and means to resolve this malady.

To start with, there are prominent lobbies that propound that the use of self-owned vehicles has created humongous health issues, such as respiratory problems and skin diseases, to name a few, owing to the uncontrolled pollution and emission of hazardous effluents from these machines. Some studies suggest that those born in the 21st century are bound to have breathing afflictions, like asthma, owing to the bad air quality.

Additionally, some experts profess that the traffic on roads has increased tremendously, due to which people are losing their temperaments affecting their personal relationships, and reaching late to work places, thereby causing inefficiency at work and negatively affecting their appraisals.

Having said that, it is hard to discount the fact that this situation is irreversible. In order to halt further deterioration, the state must promote the use of public transport such as local trains and city buses by incentivising the prices and improving the quality of the travel, particularly for the senior citizens, who prefer a comfortable commute, and the professional working class, asking for a speedy and silent atmosphere in public transportation system. Furthermore, the petrol and diesel price increase can be a step forward with a regulated limit on the availability of such fuels on a single private vehicle registration number.

To recapitulate, although a large portion of the populace, in contemporary times, prefers to travel by own conveyance, the resulting detrimental impacts is a matter of concern and must be controlled in a balanced and timely manner.

Nowadays organizations are setting up factories in countries different from where their head office is situated. Are the advantages of this more than disadvantages?

Nowadays organizations are setting up factories in countries different from where their head office is situated. Are the advantages of this more than disadvantages?

In contemporary times, a new trend has started where renowned companies have commenced setting up their manufacturing units in other nations. This perspective is considered to be laden with certain benefits, but this also has a potential to cause harm as well. In subsequent paragraphs, I will elucidate both sides before concluding.

To begin with, a prominent school of thought propounds that expanding businesses to other regions provides an opportunity to multiply the profits. This is feasible because of the manpower availability at cheaper wages and most importantly resources, due to this, the initial investment cost is remarkably reduced. Further, this also helps other countries by creating employment for the impoverished. For illustration, a recent survey conducted by BBC revealed that Zara has reduced poverty by 20% in Africa by providing jobs to poor people, and the company has witnessed rapid proliferation in their profits too.

However, a lobby of experts asserts that managing business in other countries brings unforeseen risks which could have immense detrimental effects. Any major or fatal accident inside the premises will attract the unwanted attention of local authorities giving the latter an opportunity to tarnish the image of the company, if not bribed as per their requirements. This all is possible because of the difficulty of implementation of health and safety policy. Moreover, such an arrangement also exposes organizations to financial scams committed by permanent local representatives appointed for liasoning who can misappropriate the funds.

Overall, I will conclude that although expansion of business may bring unbearable consequences, the positives surely have an edge over the negatives as it ensures employment across the globe. Hence, in my opinion, setting up factories in different parts of the world is a good option.

In the modern world it is possible to shop, work and communicate with people via internet and live without any face-to-face contact with others. Is it a positive or negative development in your opinion? To what extent do you support this development?

In the modern world it is possible to shop, work and communicate with people via internet and live without any face-to-face contact with others. Is it a positive or negative development in your opinion? To what extent do you support this development?

In this contemporary era, the internet has afforded umpteen benefits since individuals can shop online, besides engaging in professional endeavors without even visiting workplaces. I shall elucidate whether it is a favorable evolution, or not.

At the outset, an army of people vehemently professes that benefits fetched by this are overwhelming. For instance, telecommuting has allowed individuals to work flexibly from the comfort of their home, owing to this, one can now even serve in MNCs such as Microsoft, Google, and so on, without crossing(transcending) political boundaries. Besides this, rather than becoming part of chaos at market places, one can shop online from a myriad of choices at their disposal.

Similarly, many are now moving to other nations for jobs since they can now maintain contact with their kith and kin through online sources. This can be corroborated by citing the outcomes of a report published by The Hindustan Times, wherein they stated that the more and more professionals migrating to alien nations for employment worry less about their families as they find it easy to stay in touch with their loved ones.

Nonetheless, this trend has invited a plethora of challenges. While this has hampered the growth of local enterprises, various individuals are exposed to a sedentary lifestyle since they have to sit in front of a 13 inch LED during their working hours. Other than that, it has also been observed that individuals are often bereft of essential qualities like confidence and communicating skills since they hardly interact with their peers and clients in the real world.

Overall, even though rich yields are afforded by this development, it is hard to overlook the detrimental aspects of the former. Therefore, despite being a favorable phenomenon, this arrangement should be adopted discreetly.

Nowadays, many people change jobs quite regularly, rather than working in one company for their entire careers. Why do you think this is happening? How can companies keep their workers?

Nowadays, many people change jobs quite regularly, rather than working in one company for their entire careers. Why do you think this is happening? How can companies keep their workers?

Switching employment is a ubiquitous phenomenon. This can be attributed to several reasons such as seeking advancement, and thus, organizations strive to discover the mechanism that can help retain their workforce.

The primary driver of job hopping happens to be the intent of people to seek enhancement in job satisfaction, and the ever increasing number of companies being established every day is augmenting this trend. For example,  a study carried out recently to discover the cause behind frequent job switching revealed that nearly 75% or individuals felt that they did not derive professional contentment from the work they were allocated by their former employers. It further said that this induced a disenchantment towards their obligations that finally pushed them to seek opportunities elsewhere.

To surmount this challenge, organizations must shift their focus from simply offering financial stimulus to extending opportunities to their personnel to obtain a sense of accomplishment, addressing the psychological need to be acknowledged of the latter. As per several human theorists and human resource researchers, this can turn the work environment into more absorbing and fascinating for the workforce and let them enjoy the work they perform, and never letting a feeling of boredom set in.

To corroborate,  even if the employee is paid less, but the work is more meaningful and purposeful, there are more chances for them to contribute to the productivity of their employers. This can produce a win-win situation for both the parties. In other words, companies should help their employees to gain fulfilling professional experience rather than merely bigger pay packets.

Overall, the current propensity to switch employment stems from the need to gain professional satisfaction. Therefore, in my view businesses and employment providers must afford the mental contentment to their human resource, to curb this practice.

An increasing number of people choose to have cosmetic surgery in order to improve their appearance. Why do people want to change the way they look? Is it a positive or negative development?

An increasing number of people choose to have cosmetic surgery in order to improve their appearance. Why do people want to change the way they look? Is it a positive or negative development?

Reasons

  • Every human has a propensity to look younger and attractive

  • The contemporary social norms entail sustaining appearance

  • Professional requirements push people to resort to this

  • Deformities due to accidents or which have been their right from birth are a major cause

Positives

  • People feel happy about their appearance and its makes them feel enthusiastic about life - they stay from depression and pervert thoughts of seeking vengeance from others

  • This can help them to lead a life with ease and overcome impairments

  • Fills them up with with confidence to face the world and strive for success

  • Indirectly helping creating a new field of employment and research and creating hope for far greater outcome

Negatives

  • expensive : can cost people a huge money

  • Creating a kind of competition among people: everyone wants to jump  in the band wagon

  • Obsession: making people addicted to such surgeries

  • They are exposed to severe menace of death and disabilities

Of late, a new phenomenon has been making its presence felt, the surgical procedures carried out to enhance the outlook and personality. This inclination can be attributed to several reasons, but one must remember it is populated by both favourable and unfavourable impacts.

Humans have always harboured a desire to look younger and attractive. This propensity is bolstered/buttressed/augmented by the availability of the interventions that can help people attain their goals of desirable appearance. Nevertheless, subjecting oneself to surgery to achieve exposes one to umpteen/myriad benefits and pitfalls.

Nowadays, an ever rising number of people are choosing to go under the knife in order to augment their appearance. This new found craving has although numerous benefits, it will be too naive to overlook the failings of this.

To start with, the most prominent reason for individuals opting to seek  cosmetic intervention is their desire to retain their young looks, enhance their facial facade and other physical attributes, and to get rid of deformities - that may be right from the birth, or a result of a mishap. There is a general perception that to remain socially acceptable one must sustain their appearance since a majority are attracted towards the personalities that sport well proportioned physique and an appealing face.

This tendency has, as per several social theorists, helped drive in myriad benefits. After receiving cosmetic treatments, people do not feel ashamed of their looks, and instead are filled with optimism, helping them evade mental trauma and also pervert thoughts of seeking revenge on others. Similarly, this positivity raises self esteem of individuals and encourages them to go and face the outer world more confidently and meaningfully.

However, an army of people is quite concerned about the menacing influence of this vogue/latest fad. It is exposing the cosmetic surgery enthusiasts to not only extremely expensive surgical dispensions and post surgery follow-ups, which have a potential to create financial constraints, but also severe complications that can have fatal outcomes if the body refuses to cope with physiological alterations and additions.

Some young people like to copy the behavior and clothes of famous people today. Why might this be the case? What problems can it cause?

A bizarre phenomenon appears to be surfacing, nowadays, that of late,  numerous young minds have been emulating propensity, and dressing sense of renowned personalities. I shall ponder upon the forces behind this, and various challenges occurring owing to this.

At the outset, an army of people vehemently alleges that a myriad of factors are responsible for such an attitude. As per them, juveniles are immature, and thus, easily get lured by the luxurious lifestyle being showcased by celebrated personalities. Consequently, they tend to mimic the same. On top of that, they often get influenced by the attire worn by the famous individuals, and also desire to acquire the same since youngsters have a mindset that if they are not going to follow the former, it might make them look inferior in front of society

This can be corroborated by citing the outcomes of a survey conducted by The Forbes Magazine, wherein they stated that a prominent reason driving the inclination of youngsters following celebrities, is that they harbor a view that going with the trends reflects their social status.

This has worried several social theorists. They fear that this practice might expose young individuals to a plethora of challenges. Renowned people often display alcoholism and unacceptable behavior on their social handles, which could have detrimental impact on tender minds. Besides this, these personalities usually spend the lion's share of their income over extravagance, which may inculcate the same behavior in young individuals as well.

To cap it all, an affluent lifestyle being portrayed by the well known personalities, laden with comfort and luxuries, acts as a force behind such conduct of young people. This could expose young minds to several addictions, along with making them habitual of becoming spendthrift.
