Nowadays not many young people chose to work in the farming industry? Why do you think that is? How could young people be encouraged to work in this industry?

Of late, agriculture has been witnessing an exodus of the youth from agriculture. This shift stems from several factors that make the sector less appealing and lucrative compared to other industries, but there are ways to get them back.

The chief driver of this propensity is the reputation of farming being labor-intensive and financially unstable. Many believe that this sector offers fewer opportunities for economic growth and career advancement. Moreover, societal attitudes associate farming with low social status, discouraging many from pursuing it as a career. With rapid urbanization, the young are drawn to cities, seeking jobs in technology, finance, among others, affording themselves better incomes and lifestyles. Furthermore, absence of technological integration in rural areas perpetuates the image of this occupation being outdated and monotonous.  Another issue is the insufficient exposure to agriculture during formal education. Schools and universities often emphasize  urban-centric professions, and overlook the importance of this essential industry.

Reversing this trend is possible through  targeted initiatives. Governments can provide subsidies, grants or tax benefits to young farmers to improve profitability. Likewise, introducing modern technology:  drones, precision farming, and smart irrigation systems, could make this field more innovative and appealing. For example, the success of vertical farming has shown how technology can transform this realm.

Educational reforms espousing specialized courses emphasizing the importance of this occupation, could prove to be instrumental in popularizing this sector again. Universities could offer scholarships or internships to promote farming as a viable career. Also, campaigns showcasing the achievements of young successful farmers can further inspire others to follow the suit.

In conclusion, the waning interest in this domain among the young stems from its perceived challenges. However, through modernization, financial incentives and education, farming can once again become a promising professional venue for future generations.

Of late,  the young have been becoming disinclined from working in agriculture due to various reasons, but this imbroglio can be resolved by embracing prudent policies, and tools, such as inducements, appropriate education, and integrating technology in this industry.

To begin with,  working in farming industry is most taxing task than working in other fields because this requires extreme devotion and physical efforts, and also mandates multitasking: initially one needs to devote colossal time towards the research to decide which crops will be suitable to grow, then ensure proper watering  and fertilizer administration, and guarding the crop, whereas other domains simply need minimal effort but promise rich returns, thereby dissuading youngsters from partaking in this occupation.

On top of that, this activity requires one to invest a huge chunk of money initially, but still remain vulnerable to natural calamities such as droughts and floods, which can spoil the whole crop, money and effort. However, the youth today seeks stability rendered by other professions, and thus, is becoming averse to working in such a volatile domain.

Having said that,  there are some judicious methods that can be adopted to raise the appeal of this industry: compulsory education about modern agricultural practices and their importance will enlighten young ones about the significance of this occupation, and make them comprehend it better. Likewise, providing financial support, and benefits like crop insurance, to those working in this industry will definitely encourage the young to pursue their career in this realm.

To conclude, although the farming sector is not favored by the young due to numerous reasons, their interest can be cultivated in this field by educating about its importance and rendering humongous benefits like financial support, insurance to cover the loss during the natural calamities.
