Nowadays schools should not use textbooks because children get bored with books. Using games, computers and TV is a better way to give them new information and knowledge. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

There is a lobby that believes formal settings should abandon/shelve the conventional method of disseminating knowledge to the learners through textbooks since they no longer find it an interesting way, and recommend the idea of introducing smart classes to extend them the latest information. This essay will justify the rationale behind this notion and discuss that of others.

Many have hailed this arrangement since the incorporation of technology such as games, television, computers, and so on, for imparting knowledge to the pupils helps in transforming learning into interesting, tempting and fun activity through audio as well as video components, by letting them learn faster and also leaving a profound and long lasting imprint on the tender minds.

Furthermore, this integration exposes the young ones to technology and makes them tech-savvy which would help them prominently when they turn into adults, especially while negotiating professional endeavours. Similarly, the indulgence of the growing minds in such a wide array of multimedia helps in cultivating strategy building skills which contribute to their cognitive development.

However, the conservative lobby terms this kind of a switch as one that carries several downsides. Shelving textbook based learning will surely make young minds bereft of creativity: printed words force readers to visualize each word and imagine things, which can be of a great help. Besides this, not using printed text will also not allow learners to grab the most important virtues of patience, exploration and hard work. When reading something from a book, one is forced to read through pages,  teaching them to become patient and also learn to try to find the required information; consequently, letting them appreciate the value of working hard while pursuing goals.

To reiterate, I strongly feel that despite some negative aspects, substitution of books with the technology in school curriculum is accompanied by a plethora of positive aspects since this arrangement would help pupils to imbibe a rich profusion of skills which would prove to be quite beneficial for them in the years to come.
