Most people in several countries buy second hand items nowadays instead of new things.  What are the reasons for this trend? Is this a positive or negative trend?Give reasons with your experience and example in at least 250 words.

Concurrent times have been witnessing a notable increment of purchasing refurbished merchandise, wherein a growing population is resorting not to buy new things. In this essay, I shall delve deeper into the causes of this and elucidate on the positive implications of this phenomenon with relevant examples.

The proposal finds its support in the assumption that the increasing popularity of this is the environmental consciousness that is sprouting, especially among the youth. A large lobby of people are becoming aware and inclined towards the concept of sustainability. Moreover, citizens are now a beacon of responsible individuals who are conscious about ecological balance.

Similarly, this practice is environmentally friendly as it reduces carbon footprint. For instance, manufacturing cars involves several processes which lead to degradation of natural resources. Thus, buying a second- hand bike proves beneficial on this account.

Having said that, this can be perceived as a positive trend as it significantly reaps economic benefits. For instance, a student facing a financial crunch can buy a used car instead of investing in a new one and falling into a debt trap. The opponents of this proposal feel that it will create unemployment and companies will not work on enhancing the quality of their products.

In hindsight, in my opinion, those tending to buying reconditioned products are driven by economic considerations and also, the rising awareness about protecting the planet, and despite having certain detrimental impacts, this propensity is helping drive in umpteen pros in diverse manifestations.
