Even though this arrangement carries umpteen benefits, it is hard to overlook its pitfalls; however, it does evoke a controversy whether the former eclipse its failings.

In modern times, it is often observed that learners have to move out of their homes for higher studies, and it is the most pivotal decision of their life. I opine this arrangement brings numerous benefits that easily exceed its drawbacks.

To begin with, when one moves out of the home to embark upon an academic journey, it is overwhelming initially in terms of: financial burden, living alone, facing lack of support, finding it onerous to manage the time, and suffering psychological impact, and so on. This can lead to home sickness, taking an emotional toll on the well being of the young ones, precipitating distraction from studies, causing frequent absenteeism from classes. Likewise, often to cope with this stress, many become prone to going astray, and picking up unacceptable habits: drinking and drug abuse, to name a few.

However, despite having certain shortfalls,  shifting to another location offers umpteen incomparable benefits: those surviving independently foster a sense of autonomy, learn to carry out daily activities, without external intervention, while managing studies. Similarly, the new area and peers - hailing from varied cultures and places - helps enhance their understanding and appreciation of diversity. These skills are essential for the progress on the personal and professional front as these independent interactions add to overall development. Another farfetched positive aspect of this setting is a heightening of confidence, problem solving skills, as one is subjected to a roller-coaster ride on various occasions. These experiences are vital for holistic development as an independent personality.

Overall, although living away from family for education is fraught with complications: financial and emotional, these cannot surpass the favorable factors  that buttress personal growth and broadens horizons, typical integral features of university life.
