Traveling has become a ubiquitous phenomenon in contemporary times, raising a controversial question that whether those undertaking this endeavor should embrace native customs of host society, or should the latter welcome diversity. The following paragraphs will critically analyze this matter.

An army of people suggests that travelers should subscribe to customs of the destination society: this would help them explore native practices more closely as they would be accepted by locals without reluctance, creating a bonhomie between the two cultures and establishing a dialog that helps the former the experience the host society and its aspirations elaborately. Besides this, they would also be able to circumvent any possibilities of offending the natives by desecrating their conventions and beliefs.

However, the former view holds little substance in the concurrent era when the world is becoming highly globalized. This approach reflects a hostile attitude and is likely to fetch similar responses from other societies, thereby affecting the harmonious environment of the world. Those visiting a country are there to observe and experience the difference of traditions and rituals, but not to abandon their own.

Moreover, such an inhospitable attitude is bound to have a long lasting impact on tourism of the host country that will be extremely adverse. The affected visitors will carry home the negative opinions and spread them far and wide; consequently, the influx of the alien travelers will dramatically reduce, impacting not only the local employment in businesses that heavily rely on this trade and also the foreign exchange earnings.

Overall, disputes aside, the unfriendly approach towards foreign individuals entering a country for a short term is unwarranted; they should be afforded freedom to continue with their legal native practices. It will not only boost the reputation of destination countries but also promote tourism.
