The international community should reduce or eliminate the debts of the world’s poorest countries. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Pressing Debts of Poor Countries
In an era when bi lateral and multilateral cooperation is achieving new heights at the global level, many economists have started suggesting that to bring the international community more closer, rich nations should work in the direction of bringing down or writing off the debts altogether, whereas there are several who feel that this would be inappropriate.

It is firmly believed that the maladies, like hunger and poor living conditions, etc. being faced by humanity stem from lack of financial resources. The issue takes a monumental dimension when it comes to countries that face severe shortage of money. As per many established experts, although the countries in possession of abundant financial resources do actually put in serious efforts to help poor nations by extending aid and bridging loans, all the assistance goes in vain; as the poor nations are not able to bear the burden of paying back pending loans. The position of the poor countries is further worsened by existing poverty and low productivity.

Furthermore, the poor nations, which are already reeling under the burden of pending arrears further slide down, in terms of performance, on the economic, political and human resource front. These nations are trapped in a vicious circle; and the inhabitants of such nations are not able to reap any advantage from advancement and progress. This aspect severely hampers the prospects of even development on various fronts at the global level.

However, many experts claim that this reducing or writing off arrears would do more damage to nations stricken with poverty because such a move would make the political establishments of those countries complacent; make them dependent on such sops in future; and give rise to corruption, exacerbating the miseries of such regions.

In conclusion, reducing or writing off debts might prove to be counterproductive for poor nations. Thus, such proposal should be enforced discreetly, after assessment of various essential aspects.

What in your opinion, should be the main function of the university?
Role Of University

Education is on the top priority for a majority of people; they believe, better education holds key to better and stable careers. Some social thinkers have even gone to the extent of suggesting broader reforms in educational system at the varsity level to nurture vocational and professional skills instead of academic excellence. But some educationists feel that amidst all the controversies however, university must not shelve its primary functions.

Varsities have been vested with a noble job of offering standardized higher education - that match the contemporary requirements and aspiration of masses - to various sections of the society. People often look up to these higher educational establishments to don the role of mentors for the pupils seeking knowledge, and overall development. The universities have, through the centuries, taken initiative in fostering and nurturing a spirit of academic exploration among the knowledge seekers; and this is what many still expect from the universities.

Moreover, the universities should continue acting as the guardians of treasure of accumulated knowledge of the past and contemporary times. Through the ancient times, various varsities, across the world, have been enriched and entrusted with works of genius of celebrated thinkers; intellectuals; artists; researchers; and inventors, which makes it imperative for these establishments to spread the knowledge gathered across the society.

To add up, the universities have always, with help of the available resources and expertise, in form of accredited material and specialized human tutors, like lecturers and professors, etc., kindled the fames of furtherance of knowledge; and deeper research into diverse domains. Many geniuses have used these establishments as their Launchpad to revolutionize the society.

To conclude, I personally feel that Universities are not vocational training institutions; and they should continue playing the roles they have played till now.

Ielts Essay - A Lot Of TV Channels

Some people say that having a lot of TV channels is good, while others argue that it reduces the quality of programs. Discuss both views and give your own opinion. Write at least in 250 words with relevant examples from your own experience.

The advent and subsequent spread of electronic audio visual entertainment, like television has bought in a renaissance of sorts – where the entertainment has become audience centric – and has led to rise in number of television channels that target specific segments. This has also led to deterioration in the quality of programs being aired.

An increment in number of channels is a result of innovative program planning undertaken by television studios producing and airing shows to suit the taste of targeted audience so that people - not intending to watch unwanted programs- do not need to switch off their television sets. The channels being aired have become subject specific, for instance, the channels associated with travel and lifestyle continuously show programs on various topics connected to this domain. This helps the viewers in gaining more knowledge in their area of interest, besides entertaining themselves.

Moreover, more television channels means broader perspective and wider choice of programs and presentations – where each channel tries to present an event or a happening from a different angle – which off course prove very advantageous for the viewers; as they are able to gather more information and form a well-informed opinion.

However, the sudden mushrooming of the television channels has also led to deterioration of the quality of the programs being aired. The channels, in a bid to overcome their competition, try to include more and more programs in the iternary schedule, most of which lack imagination, resourcefulness and freshness. Every other show, especially the television serials and music shows look stale and lack taste.

To sum up, I personally feel that though a sudden explosion in number of channels may have affected the quality to an extent, nevertheless, this trend has enabled audience to watch and enjoy the shows it wants.

People doing different kinds of work enjoy different amount of holiday time. Should people have the same amount of leisure time? Discuss.

Ielts Essay- Work and Holidays
The busy schedules at work have made it highly necessary for the people to take time off from work, as doing this can bring in numerous benefits for physical and mental well being of employees, but there is a continuous debate over the tenure and period of the time off different categories of employees should take or be allowed.

Taking holidays as per the ranks and positions is sometimes considered to be an essential component of human resources management system. As per HR policies of various companies, the people working in locations that need intense involvement at work deserve to be compensated with suitable leisure time offs spans accordingly, since working on tough and diverse assignments can be taxing, and this also sometimes leads employees, in question, to socially disconnect from rest of society for the sake of job. Proper rejuvenation for such personnel can help in enhancing their productivity. Whereas, the people who perform general duties or are involved in less taxing work can get appropriate amount of relaxation even with shorter tenures.

However, such policies often court deep controversy as they symbolize ambiguity. Such provisions often lead to discord and uneasy situations at the work place because of disagreements between the top, middle and lower level managers; and workers at lower rungs, because managers at different levels of organizational hierarchy find it hard to convince their juniors over disproportionate allocation of leisure time to different individuals.  Besides this, provisions of taking and allowing uneven holiday privileges often leads to jealousy among the coworkers and colleagues as the ones getting lesser amount of leisure time-offs often start harboring ill feelings for their coworkers.

To sum up, I personally feel that tenure leisure time should surely be different for different levels of personnel: both face differing levels of scope of obligations and stress, and thus, must be compensated accordingly.

As more and more people have started regarding education only way to securing a healthy and stable career, many have started proposing elementary changes in the ways varsities treat education. The section thinks that it would better if varsities taught only those subjects which were required in specific professions and trades as chosen by pupils.

Getting a job after completing the studies is on the top priority of a majority of student community so most of them want to grab those skills which could help them secure choicest jobs faster with the best of companies. It is therefore firmly believed that it would be highly conducive to gain expertise in those areas where the employers have a severe requirement. Gaining technical knowhow and developing finesse in specific fields can help in polishing the skills, thus helping the people in getting jobs faster since their skills would easily match the requirements of companies looking for skilled workers.

Moreover, making education employer requirement centric would bring around numerous for companies hiring personnel as the hiring organizations would not have to allocate expansive financial outlay to task of training the workers for the specific jobs. The money saved would enhance the productivity of the companies and also enable them to extend more financial benefits to their workers.

Nevertheless pursuing and imparting education as per employer requirements has its own hazards as the needs of companies keep changing; and relying on a specific trade area, also within a domain, would make the workforce specializing in a specific area redundant; this would eventually result in large scale unemployment.

To sum up, I personally believe that the notion of imparting education as per professional aspirations, and avoiding other subjects, is full of faults; and it should never be put into practice.

Internet contains a lot of Information, however, sometimes this information is inaccurate or wrong. Do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Although internet has become a major source of browsing for, and retrieving inputs, most consider this medium to be loaded with plenty of misleading data which, as per some, instead of being helpful can sometimes be harmful.

Even though Internet has radically changed the world of communication; and storing and transferring data, it has also brought along a malady of falsified and unverifiable inputs. Most of the data being loaded onto the web portals is actually unsolicited; and most of it is managed by those posing as experts in specific fields. It has been often found that inputs on thousands of these sites are, as good as useless because it is not possible to verify the validity of the data being presented. The information, news and data being reproduced is, most of the times, copied and pasted from a plethora of sites, which in themselves lack genuineness; this reduces the usefulness of data.

Furthermore, this modern medium of relaying, presenting and transmitting information has also created many self-styled reporters and researchers who, though hide behind the veil of anonymity, claim to be successfully conducting in-depth research into various fields. Most of these people present highly biased inputs and information which off course lack consistency and have the potential of misleading users and followers. This medium has also led to a sudden spurt in instances of scams and frauds of varying severity.

However, some people feel that numerous websites and portals are loaded with verifiable inputs, and if users are smart enough to judge, they always land up at the right address. As per them, intent of retrieving data free of cost is main cause behind users     being misled by unscrupulous people.

To conclude, I feel that internet offers really useful and accurate data and inputs.

Creative artists should always be given the freedom to express their own ideas (in words, pictures, music or film) in whichever way they wish. There should be no government restrictions on what they do. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Restriction on creativity
Art and creativeness have always inspired the society, and have given it a reason to rejoice and enjoy the life, but sometimes creativity tends to offend aspirations of some parts of social groups. This inspires some sections to advocate keeping a check on what artists can do though some others feel that freedom of people connected with arts should not be curtailed.

Art has always illustrated and reflected the aspirations of society and community from where it originates. Down the centuries, it has been regarded as an icon of deeply embedded rich traditions and culture by the creators and the admirers alike. Curtailing the freedom of artistic expression would have an adverse impact on the outlook of the society as it would make that society look like a ghetto of hardliners which is greatly influenced by the fanatic zealots.

Besides this, creative people like painters, dancers, actors, poets and writers have always stimulated renaissance and revolution. Common people have always been positively influenced by the path breaking ideas perpetuated by the creators of masterpieces in literature, poetry, statues and painted exhibits etc. For example, Shakespeare, a renowned playwright is considered to be an icon of creativity by Brits who still take a lot of wisdom from his plays which he wrote with a view of reflecting contemporary social aspirations.

However, creativeness as per some, should not be allowed an unimpeded access to expression as it can have adverse impact on the society. The creations of some of the artistic exponents can often lead to social conflicts which in turn can offset and dilute the very objective of creation. Some artists are often even termed as biased and selfish.

To sum up, I feel that independence of people connected with arts should not be impeded: the exponents of arts are vehicles of perpetuating culture. Therefore, I completely subscribe to the statement.

Sometimes celebrities get invited to international aid events. Do you think that such events deviate from their main purpose by inviting famous people?

Celebrity or Philanthropy?

Philanthropy has become a fad among the elite today, and almost every organization, offering humanitarian or relief assistance, is finding it easy to raise resources by simply organizing charity shows and roping in famous people to endorse these happenings. Some critics vehemently challenge the validity of such activities while some find such things really practical.

Collecting money through big star-studded charity shows is always considered an excellent method of raising funds for charitable objectives. Roping in famous public personalities boosts the relevance of such happenings, as more and more people emulate the precedents of their idols and contribute by buying entry passes for such events, or even donating handsome amounts. Moreover, this spurs interest among various sections of the society simultaneously, and the aid organizations are able to reach more and more people quickly.

For instance, recently an NGO organized a charity show in Delhi to create awareness about the plight of the rivers in India; and collect much-needed funds and logistical support to run their campaign effortlessly, so they hired services of a renowned journalist, with a large fan following, to endorse their cause and the show. consequently, several admirers, from far-flung areas of Delhi and around, of  that individual joined the show and paid decent sums of money and also voluteered forthe cause.

However, bringing in celebrities has its own perils; the focus of shows tends to shift from being cause centric to being person centric. This kind of shift affects the image of such events adversely as many consider such activities as mere publicity stunts; this might cause disenchantment among the populace, and take it away.

To conclude, I feel celebrited boost the image of such shows rather than tarnishing it; this method is the easiest to enlighten the world about the altrusitic objectives and plight of the

Some people say that public libraries should be free, otherwise they are just a waste of money, especially because modern technologies and the internet allow easy access to resources. Discuss and give your point of view.

Library or IT

The advent of information technology has brought about drastic changes in the way people store information. This phenomenon has penetrated all walks of life, and some people have started suggesting that there is no need to maintain expensive libraries, though some feel that libraries cannot be superseded.

The modern technology has made life quite easy, enabling shrinking loads of information into very compact data. Now, even the gigantic databases including books, chronicles and other important works concerning history, research into various fields, etc., can be saved anywhere quickly. Similarly,  the saved information can be retrieved and accessed from anywhere: even right from the comfort of the homes and offices. An unimpeded saving and accessing facility has made electronic mode of storing and retrieving information almost indispensible, so there is hardly anyh rationale behing maintaining these cumbersome resources and charging visitors.

Moreover, compact databases on standalone machines or servers connected to cloud services do not require sprawling premises. Besides this, the information just needs simple backups to ensure loss of data due to certain accidents. Many find this mode of accessing books and other important material quite inexpensive when compared to multitude of funds required to maintain books and library premises.

However, the importance of libraries cannot be ignored at all, as these though this conventional but excellent way of saving information is deemed critical when it comes to storing original work; manuscripts; centuries old documents and other important research papers, etc., as originality is sometimes deemed more vital than just saving information. Nevertheless, they need money to sustain their collection; maintain their premises; and pay for the staff and expansion of their facilities. It is worth noting that government grants are rarely are sparse; therefore, these institutions must charge.

To conclude, I feel that libraries are part of heritage of any culture and replacing them is almost impossible, and they need to charge levy. Thus. they should be maintained and not offered for free.

Some people feel that Schools do not teach children how to stay healthy anymore? To what extent do you agree or disagree.

Education and health of children have always been top priority. Since the advent of 20th century, appropriate focus has been laid on training children in academics and educating them about leading healthy lives. But as per some, the focus seems to be shifting as schools do not prioritize health education anymore, though there are some who feel otherwise.

The focus of educational institutions has gradually shifted to prioritizing academic excellence and finesse. To see this through, the faculties put whole hearted efforts into training students for better academic accomplishments. With the multitude of efforts being put into encouraging and preparing pupils for higher academic output, educational establishments are left with little time to teach young learners about leading healthy lives, for instance, several schools have shelved extracurricular activities from syllabus, and replaced them with academic discipline.

Moreover, although many schools still profess about ensuring comprehensive personality development of young learners, and such institutions heavily publicize various activities aimed at fostering healthy habits among children, much publicized talk about health education is merely a lip service, as the schools seem to be pursuing commercial goals, and they are least bothered about the overall development of the kids.

However, some people really feel that schools are still continuing with the mission of fostering healthy habits among the children, and even though the schools do not include any formal health programs in regular syllabus, the educational establishments regularly organize such workshops and activities that invite participation from established health practitioners and students. This in turn, inspires young learners to follow precedents of professionals, and learn about leading healthy lives.

To conclude, I personally feel schools seem to have lost the way in pursuit of better academic pursuits, and have ignored the need of teaching pupils about healthy lives.

Some people say that mobile phones should be banned in public places such as libraries, shops and public transport. Do you agree or disagree?

Ban Mobiles In Public Areas
Mobile phones have revolutionized the world of personal communication but also invited a lot of flack as some people feel that these handy gadgets are proving to be more nuisance than being useful, and hence, people should be barred from using them in public especially  libraries and public transport, though there are some, who feel otherwise.

People using cellular phones tend to become insensitive towards others as they while talking to others on these small gadgets become oblivious of the surroundings, and are lost in their own world. Talking on phones takes them through a psychological transformation as they are not able to control their impulses and react immediately to discussions taking place on the phones, the reactions which often are loud and bland, and in process disturbing the people around. This disturbance easily upsets fellow commuters using public transport like buses and trains.

Moreover, these modern gadgets are equipped with numerous Apps and games, which tend to be addictive. The people using these facilities are always engrossed in playing games or chatting with other people with help of social networking Apps. This makes them ignorant of surrounding conditions, and they silently carry on behaving erratically and disturbing others in the process, especially ones sitting in peaceful environments like libraries.

Nevertheless, barring use of these gadgets in public would be unwise, as most people often make use of these gadgets to communicate urgent matters only. Moreover, while using these gadgets in public areas, people tend to be quite as most usually minding their own business and not disturbing others around.

To sum up, I personally feel that although some of the mobile users do behave erratically in public, this does not however imply that we should ban use of these gadgets in public areas.

Nowadays scientists and tourists can travel to remote natural environments such as the South Pole. What are the advantages and the disadvantages of this development? - Ielts Essay

Travel to Remote Environment
With scientific research gaining more importance and travel transforming into wanderlust, scientists and travelers with itchy feet have started exploring virgin untamed habitats. Modern scientists and travelers know no boundaries, and they do not hesitate to even include poles of the planet in their research and travel itinerary. This trend has fetched accolades and some brickbats simultaneously.

Travel by scientific community to untamed areas and regions like poles is laden with numerous benefits as scientists get a chance to explore various mysteries connected to our planet and its environment, for instance, places like Antarctica are often regarded as mine of undiscovered facts that can reveal vital clues linked to changes in the weather patterns and their influence on our planet, and crust of continents that have drifted apart from each other long ago. The long frozen ice caps of these locations contain loads of information about the changes in quality of air over different periods.

Similarly, travelers foraging into the wild and untamed areas avail opportunities to learn about the how flora and fauna thrive in natural habitats, and also to know about why it is extremely essential to preserve these pockets of wild areas for the well being of our planet.

However, the concept of exploring Ecozones is believed to be a hazard for the natural habitats. The researchers exploring these territories often cause more damage to the surroundings in the name of carrying out nature study, as many seek opportunities to exploit virgin material of these areas for commercial purposes. Even the rovers who just enter these areas cause similar level of damage as they often behave irresponsibly when it comes to preserving the sanctity of these areas.

In conclusion, I feel travelling to remote locations can be beneficial if undertaken responsibly.

Tobacco and alcohol are drugs that cause addition and health problems
Alcohol and Tobacco

Rising incidences of disease resulting out of use of alcohol and tobacco has prompted many health experts to consider both these substances as drugs, and propose banning these of legalizing all drugs though there are voices of dissent.

Using alcohol and tobacco products has been conventionally regarded as being highly injurious to health of not only the direct users but also those around. Where cigarette, a common tobacco article, smoking  can cause more harm to passive smokers than users, alcohol, if consumed in excess, can turn people violent  often resulting in unwarranted consequences. To add to this, the most vulnerable groups to these substances are young, who if become nicotine or alcohol dependent, they are likely to damage to their health due to abuse, which would surely jeopardize the health of future generation.

However,  there are voices in support tobacco and alcohol: these substances have been a part of leisure since ages, if consumed in moderation and in private, they are unlikely to cause any harm to self or public. Moreover, imposing a ban would only help popularize these products, and risk of people buying and consuming spurious stuff would rise significantly, as has been experienced in many countries that tried banning these substances.

As far as, declaring all drugs  is concerned, it is better that narcotics should always remain out of reach of general public. Most of the intoxicants are highly addictive – even a moderate consumption can turn users into addicts. Not only this , drug abuse can permanently damage physical and mental  health, making drug abusers invalid.

To sum up, I personally feel, to ensure better health and safety of majority of populace on planet, it would be wise enough to let drugs continue to be considered as illegal though alcohol and tobacco articles should also be restricted but discreetly.

Without capital punishment (the death penalty) our lives are less secure and crimes of violent increase. Capital punishment is essential to control violence in society. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Can Death Penalty Prevent Violent Crimes?

Ever rising incidence and intensity of criminal activities has pushed many to strongly vouch for continuation of severe punishment in form of death penalties though some feel that awarding death sentence is not required and would prove insufficient as far as curtailment of unlawful activities involving violence is concerned.

Extreme steps, like awarding death penalties to the perpetrators of crime of violence acts as a major deterrent; the offenders always fear execution if found and convicted. The fear of death is the biggest element that pushes one to dissuade themselves from participating in criminal endeavors which might result in physical harm to the victims. For instance, many empirical studies and analysis have revealed that introduction of death by execution statute in early twentieth century in some countries, and reinstatement in others across the globe, resulted in steady decline in the number of incidents involving violent acts. Now, the people feel safer are able to lead a peaceful life.

However, several deride this theory, as per them, the crimes of violence like homicides are in most cases committed due to the inherent animal instincts. For some, carrying out such acts is habit and a passion and no law of any severity can prevent criminals from involving themselves from such activities. Furthermore, brutal acts resulting in physical harm can often be a result of circumstances and not deliberate. This lobby is of  the view that reformation and rehabilitation could help those intending to commit such acts, introspect an think about the impact their endeavors  could have on others.

Overall, I feel that capital punishment is an absolute necessity to ensure a crime free society. All other proposals presented in favor of abandoning it should be overlooked, after all public safety is of paramount importance.

Do the benefits of Eco Tourism far outweigh its drawbacks? Discuss and give your views. Discuss and give your opinion in at least 250 words

Eco tourism - Ielts Essay
Nowadays, Eco tourism is often being quoted as green tourism and it fast gaining prominence around the world. Many environmentalists and governments have started professing about the benefits of this branch of travelling, while there are several staunch critics who feel that Eco tourism is actually generating more problems than providing solutions.

Eco tourism is believed to be beneficial in many ways, as it does not exploit and disturb the sanctity of the location and the areas surrounding the sites being visited by the tourists. The green tourism also proves helpful for the locals living in that specific territory as it strives to involve locals living in and around the site of interest which ensures employment and self sufficiency for the local inhabitants. This in turn also prevents influx of outsiders in these areas thus helping in preserving the sanctity of the area.

Besides this, the eco tourism is also playing an important role in creating awareness about the importance of preserving environment. The areas being explored as part of nature tourist sites and spots are not developed on lines with the commercial tourism, i.e. they are left untouched and untamed. Educational travel based on natural attractions is also proving to be a promising medium of promoting social, economic, and environmental goals especially in developing nations.

However, nature tourism is also leading to destruction of forest and marine habitats and several wild species are being driven to the brink of extinction due to pressures created by of illegal hunting, logging, agriculture, and fishing. Furthermore, the poor nations who are maintaining these locations lack appropriate funding sources to manage and preserve them.

To conclude, I personally feel that although nature tourism has many demerits, its benefits cannot be overlooked and ignored.

Space Exploration IELTS Essay
As the race for exploring outer space gains momentum, a section of critics to this policy have started questioning the rationale behind allocating a huge financial outlay on this exercise. However, there are many supporters of the space programs being undertaken currently by governments across the world.

The Idea of going ahead with discovering the untouched domains beyond the atmosphere of the planet earth has always fascinated the human kind. This curiosity has gained more prominence as the scientists go ahead with trying to uncover the mysteries of the universe. As per them, probing into deeper space would help in unraveling many unknown secrets that have intrigued humanity over the centuries. This would in turn, not only allow us to know about the origins of humanity, but also open up new horizons of knowledge for the future generations.

Moreover, most of the latest innovations are a result of extensive solar system exploration. The biggest beneficiary of this activity has been the humanity itself, which, due to satellites in the space, is now having a better medium of communication and weather forecasting at its disposal. Besides this, many technologies and techniques have been developed or perfected with help of extensive experimenting in space, for instance semi conductor that was developed in weightlessness of space, i.e. out of our planet has assisted in improving the electronics and many other domains.

However, the detractors feel that money channelized into sending satellites or people out of planet could have been spent on better things like providing food, shelter, education and medical support to innumerable poor of the planet.

To sum up, in my point of view, whatever may be the case, the schemes aiming at exploring space has proven to be helpful and it should provided more impetus.

Over the last few years more and more students enroll in universities. This situation creates competition among individuals. Do you agree or disagree? Is it a good or a bad development?

Students Enroll in Universities
With academic excellence gaining prominence, a strange trend is developing among the pupils as everyone is seeking enrollment in varsities. This has given rise to a race of sorts among the younger generation to secure higher grades in the secondary studies. Some feel, this is surely a thing to worry about, while others look at the positive side of it.

Better academic qualifications have always been the objectives of pupils seeking academic excellence. To achieve this, the pupils tend to opt for reputed varsities that are equipped with better faculties and facilities. This has given rise to a stiff competition among the people as the number of seat available in departments of universities are limited which in turn has raised the cut-off percentages in selection lists.

Such neck to neck race would surely cast an unholy shadow on the current education system as other venues of imparting courses may become irrelevant shortly. There could be another negative impact on the education system as courses being hosted by the colleges and other alternatives institutions may not be considered suitable and adaptable thereby rendering the academic pursuits of students of these establishment inappropriate. This could finally lead to a collapse of the whole setup.

However, some educationists and planners feel that this is a positive development as the recent drift of pupils towards university would not inspire them to gain more proficiency in their elementary pursuits, but also help in developing their attitudes to obtain deeper knowhow in any discipline they pursue. Moreover, the institutions clubbed under non university categories would also be encouraged to raise the standards of academics and facilities being offered currently.

To sum up, I personally feel that the inclination for universities would bring around positive results in the long run.

“Prevention is better than cure”. Out of a country’s health budget, a large proportion should be diverted from treatment to spending on health education and preventative measures. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Providing appropriate healthcare services to the inhabitants of a country has always remained an important social initiative, but consistently rising per capita health expenditure has invited a debate on finding ways of cutting down public expenditure in this domain. Some have even suggested channelizing funds to programs aimed at encouraging prevention of ailments rather than combating them.

Diverting public money to initiatives aimed at teaching inhabitants about healthy practices can be more productive and fruitful as it would help in ensuring keeping various fatal and crippling diseases at bay, thereby reducing the need to manufacture and procure expensive medicines and equipment. This would enable the government to channelize the much precious funds to ensuring better life and facilities for the inhabitants of a country.

Furthermore, prioritizing creating awareness among masses about benefits of adopting and leading a healthy lifestyle over treating would result in improving the health index of society, especially in terms of fatal and crippling diseases. This, is turn would enhance the productivity of the society by shifting its focus to more vital areas rather than exploring ways to treat ailments.

However, reducing financial outlay and changing preferences from providing treatment to educating about healthy lifestyle and prevention of ailments could prove to be a disaster as the life is becoming complex and many people may not be receptive to the idea of leading a disciplined life. Moreover, certain illnesses and disorders occur due to unavoidable reasons especially those linked to the aging, complex lifestyle and pollution, for instances, some illnesses like arthritis start occurring naturally and cannot be prevented even by following a healthy lifestyle.

To sum up, I feel that government should keep both prevention and cure on priority and not focus only on one area - both of these enjoy equal relevance for effective healthcare interventions.

Many parents use punishment to teach the different between right and wrong to kids. Many think punishment is unnecessary to help children learn the distinction between right and wrong. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Punishment And Parenting

Parenting has always been a tricky job because it needs people to handle one of the most difficult beings on the planet, i.e. the children. This job can test the wits of parents especially when it comes to teaching the kids about differentiating between the good and bad. Involving some sort of punishment in teaching process is sometimes regarded as a critical component of parenting; however, critics despise this practice.

Juveniles are adventurous, immature and often prone to adopting ways of erratic behavior. Their inquisitive tender minds often lead them into exploring such activities and domains which should otherwise be avoided during growing years.  It is necessary to dissuade them from such expeditions and as per some parents, chastising is the best way is prevent the kids from taking up habits or involving themselves into such habits that have a potential of hampering their growth.

Furthermore, rebuke and reprimand have always been regarded as the short cuts to inciting discipline among the young ones. The fear of cane and verbal punishment have always deterred the growing kids from doing something over adventurous, and instead encouraged them to take up righteous path that is disciplined and fruitful. The kids disciplined at home are thought to grow up as those rational adults who know the difference between good and evil.

However, modern psychologists and social scientists disapprove and reject theory of rebuke. As per them, there is no place for punishment in a caring relationship and moreover, chastising can often result in severe consequences where the children either grow up as violent adults or take extreme steps in their growing years.

To sum up, I feel although the view of modern child psychologists holds true in contemporary era, traditional concept of upbringing cannot be completely overruled, making this practice relevant even today.
